Rangers may have to shatter the Scottish transfer record if they want to trigger the buy option in Badredine Bouanani's loan deal.
That's because Bild in Germany are claiming the fee agreed between the clubs is an eye-popping €18m (£15.5m).
The Algerian winger, a £13m signing for Stuttgart last summer, is on his way to Glasgow to finalise a loan move to Rangers. He'll join alongside Kevin Kelsy in a double boost to Derek McInnes' attacking options and the Ibrox side have negotiated an option to make the move permanent should he impress.
But reports in Germany say it'll set them back around £15.5m if they want to trigger that – which would shatter the longstanding £12m record fee Rangers paid for Tore Andre Flo 26 years ago.

Just commented on this on the banter page. The boy has talent and potential to be a great player, but has been a failure in Germany. His price should be going down, not up 5.5 million euros. Terrible negotiating on our part.

We're not talking about an established player here though, we're talking about a guy who has only just turned 21, who a few years ago was in the top 60 upcoming footballers in the world. If we get top form out of him and he really kicks on, then that option price suddenly doesn't look so high if it's split into base price plus add ons.

Lot of things can change, hope he's that good that it looks a bargain, see players going for less than the option all the time after loan, maybe just needed him in quick and you can go back to negotiable table at end of season.

I've no bother agreeing to a loan option fee like that on the basis that we can always try and haggle it down later if need be.

Here's Johnny. Happy we have a rw or am, just think option should have been what they paid or wee bit less. That's what happens in the football world, you sign for a decent fee, you don't play well or many games, you go for less.
Just like every player we've signed for years. Danilo, Lammers etc etc could prob count on one hand players we've made a profit on we've signed for decent money and not been up to much.

If the figures quoted are true, it seems baffling how someone's price can increase by £5 million when he's barely played, and we're getting offered less than what we value.
I'm glad the club are still doing business and very grateful for their efforts. All I said was the figures quoted are confusing.

We won't have to worry about the £15.5.
If he's rank, we won't sign him.
If he tears it up, he won't want to stay in SPL.
Either way, it's a loan and it ends there.
Hopefully he can set the league ablaze and he'll have earned his move to a proper league while maybe helping us to some silverware.

As someone has pointed out, Aasgaard money could go towards it, same re Danilo 2 m and Bajrami 3 million. Mb we sell Chermiti when fits.

Correct John, 👍 Try and be grateful that our owners are prepared to back Derek McInnes instead of putting doubts on deals we're doing. 😡 This is absolutely the correct deal we're doing in signing Algerian winger Bouanani, because it's a season long loan deal with the option to buy if we like what we see and he does the business.
🤔 Some are just never happy unless they're moaning and want players sign and when we do push the boat out it's negative comments like "that's too big an outlay" etc. 👎😡 I'm grateful our owners are clearly backing McInnes. 😁🇬🇧

Let's just be clear here, if he does come here and smashes it on loan, we can trigger any permanent move we want, but if bigger clubs are sniffing about after a fantastic season, he ain't signing for us.

If last season we had loaned Moore with an option to buy for 15 mil, would anyone have blinked an eye? Nope, we would have happily paid it, so Rangers are just covering their backs. If he does turn out to be super amazing and blows up the league, then 15 mil will be a price set, rather than going back to the team and then getting quoted 20 million plus cause how well he did.
If he doesn't, then we don't buy, so I think it's a great deal.

Where's the down side here? It looks like we are bringing in circa 30 mil of talent to bolster our creative positions with 3 players who have significant potential - 2 we own and one that we could if we want to.
Let's hope they all hit ground running. Receiving our business this window - we are stronger in every area of the pitch than we were last season, in my opinion.

It's made me realise that I've been bringing the past into the future, and worrying about what happened last time, and concerns over the club's finances.
It's not my job to worry about that. I can't control that. I'm simply a fan who will watch and cheer with anticipation.
I am glad we are being adventurous and proactive, and I will set that worry aside as it isn't mine to carry.

He only played 458 minutes for Stuttgart last season, and that shows he didn't get many chances. He had that Jamal Lewling in front of him in the team, and he was rumoured to be moving to Bayern or the Premier League.
If I'm being honest, I don't care about the transfer fee; if he comes in and helps win things then I'm happy, and if we do sign him we could potentially double the fee, and if he flops he goes back.

As another poster says, it's a win win for us. If he comes in and is poor, then we aren't tied to him. If he comes in and is electric, we can buy him. If he comes in and is good and has potential again, we aren't tied to it, so we can renegotiate.
It's a player we could have only dreamed of being interested in a few years ago, so I, for one, will give credit to the board for their ambition and will not try to find any gripe I can with it.

My star, i think it's his minutes from the league a posted. Ave not got a problem with this signing, as a said it's a loan, so if he doesn't perform, he goes back, and if he smashes it, we have a player on our hands regardless of the fee.

Gazza, you've every right to be worried, mate, after the stuff we've been through over the last 4 years. Don't let it get to you, mate, is what I will say. Hopefully we can pull a team together and have a decent season.
The past few signings look like we are going in the right direction. Gassama, Kim, Bouanni, Kelsey up top should be an exciting front line.
