Been told this morning that if Rangers lose this weekend against St Mirren then McInnes could be gone. It wouldn't surprise me we are just a few games into his tenure and already made some strange decisions. We need a tougher manager and someone who is experienced at managing big clubs I have no idea who but things cannot go like this we are a joke and no one is scared of playing us now how can we have fallen away so badly send reaching the Europa league final.

Celtic have signed 3 players and everyone is better than any player we have signed

14 Aug 2026 14:43:45
You can't continue to blame managers every 6 months.

14 Aug 2026 14:48:42
Hahaha, if we get rid of McInnes, you think an experienced manager is coming into this rubbishshow. 😂 Get in the real world, man. Couldn't even convince Steven Gerrard, whose stock was at its lowest, to come back twice! We ended up with a rookie in Danny Rohl, and after he bailed, we are at McInnes.

It's only downhill from here. Club's a mess, club will stay a mess, cause everyone employed by it are clowns.

14 Aug 2026 14:53:35
Normally I'd agree, Yately, but come on, McInnes has done nothing right in regards to games, poor team selection, players out of position, formation failures, captain selection, vice captain selection to name a few, absolutely rank rotten, throw in too lopsided for games, too narrow, zero width, it's truly awful.

14 Aug 2026 14:55:10
Who told you that? Nobody but the voices in your head.

14 Aug 2026 15:03:06
I'm 99.99% sure DM is here for the long term and personally I'm delighted about it.

14 Aug 2026 15:08:23
Very much doubt it, but thanks for the first post.

14 Aug 2026 15:08:57
Ehl, would you be surprised if he sticks to 2 upfront? I don't know any teams that win leagues playing a 442.

14 Aug 2026 15:12:06
Same here Ehl, the rot is in recruitment imo.

14 Aug 2026 15:14:38
Ehl, me too.

I am however worried about this formation he's trying to do. It's not working for the players, and I don't see how it can change.

14 Aug 2026 15:15:21
Calling this as made up nonsense, sorry pal, but McInnes isn't being sacked. This mess isn't on him, it's on recruitment and the owners.

14 Aug 2026 15:20:15
I'm glad we'll have a manager long term, Ehl, but he really needs to improve. The players on the park last night should have won. We lost due to his tactics and direction (or lack of).

14 Aug 2026 15:20:30
Wow, now the manager gets 5 games. 😂😂😂 We going for a record here?

14 Aug 2026 15:22:53
In the name of the wee man, give the guy a chance. He's doing his best in a difficult situation, with a recruitment committee of incompetents next door to him that, hopefully, the owners will suss out at some point.

14 Aug 2026 15:27:22
We can only hope he's out the door soon. Del last night were really short at the back, so we really don't want to play a right footer at left back, 2nd half winning 1-0. Take a player out middle of the park and puts a right footer at LB.

14 Aug 2026 15:35:17
EHL, I hope you're right and I'd be happy if he was here for the long term. I get the impression that he's in no mood for f***ing around and he's already firing home a few home truths, both in the dressing room and at board level.

That's just my opinion, of course.

Interested to hear why you're delighted that he's here for the long term if you'd be happy to share?

14 Aug 2026 15:40:55
EHL, are you happy with the formation that he is playing and happy with the results?

They definitely aren't going the way we all want, so why would you be delighted about it.

There is, however, that 0.01% doubt in you though, so not fully committing.

14 Aug 2026 15:45:31
Personally not buying this "difficult situation."

He's the Rangers manager, with a budget some before him would've done 10x better with. Aye, some signings haven't hit the mark, and we're behind where I, as a fan, pictured we'd be, and I agree he deserves patience to an extent - but also criticism, as I believe we have continued to regress from last season.

If we are eliminated from both competitions over the next fortnight, I would like to hope serious questions would be asked of his (and the recruitment teams) positions.

14 Aug 2026 15:56:23
As a club, we need a little patience to achieve a level of stability and consistency that doesn't come overnight after the turmoil and change we've been through since Steven Gerrard left us mid-season.
Changes in the club structure, the takeover, and poor recruitment have played a huge part in the state we find the club in.

Squad rebuilds over the last four managers have wasted tens of millions of pounds. Better with 3/4/5 quality players coming in a season than 10/12 or more jersey fillers. That's what's being done across the city. They are building on a core and are supplementing it with 4/5 quality signings, particularly this year.

14 Aug 2026 16:03:58
You and me both, Ehl. It would be madness to consider removing yet another manager after a few weeks in the job. Give him time to get things right - what's the realistic alternative?

14 Aug 2026 16:10:56
I've no idea what formation he will use moving forward. I think he's just trying to make something work with what he has at the moment, which is utter rubbish.

14 Aug 2026 16:20:52
Lol Tim's are so funny - creating profiles on Rangers pages - obsessed doesn't begin to cut it.

14 Aug 2026 16:23:50
Think Shankland is proving to be the major issue. He clearly is not suited to the lone striker role, so we are tinkering with formations to play 2 up, which is leaving us short either in midfield or, like last night, in the full back positions.

Add in lack of creativity with the midfielders we have, and a dreadful defence without a natural leader, it is turning into a bit of a shambles.

14 Aug 2026 16:40:43
We have to stick with DM.
Give him the chance and time.

14 Aug 2026 16:53:40
We literally do not have any other choice but to stick with McInnes. We sack him and get someone else, it's just going to be the same thing over and over again. We need to buck the trend, let him get a full season and if things are that bad, then move on in May.

He will nowhere turn it around imo but we aren't winning anything this year and if the recruitment team is not improved upon he'll never win anything with us. Neither will any manager.

14 Aug 2026 17:03:10
Take it folk just want him kept for the simple reason he's a Rangers man? He's on course to have a worse start than Martin! But it's not his fault, it's the recruitment fault, so are use now saying it wasn't Martin's fault n should have been given time, is that what use are saying?

14 Aug 2026 17:08:41
Should never have got the job and it would almost be worth losing to St Mirren to get rid of him. The only problem would be attracting any kind of decent manager to manage that dreadful squad he has assembled with only a couple of weeks of the window to go and the money mostly spent. As for giving him time to bed in his system of play, I don't think he's played the same way twice in 4 games, he doesn't even know what system he wants to play so how can we sign players to suit.

Recruitment is bad but he has had an input into it too and the squad is now worse than the dross Martin put together.

14 Aug 2026 17:22:15
That should say he will eventually turn it around*.

14 Aug 2026 17:35:56
Surely, we're not asking for another manager to be sacked already.

As painful as this is as a supporter. We cannot keep rinsing and repeating!

There is a deeper issue somewhere, I just don't know what it is.

How is giving anyone 4 games, giving anyone a chance?

I really hope the board don't succumb to petulant fan behaviour again.

Hopefully the root of the issue will be found so we can start to recover.

If you're only singing when we're winning, please don't come.

14 Aug 2026 17:43:49
Wsl, that's one of the most shocking takes I've seen on here.

"It would almost be worth losing to St. Mirren to get rid of him."

Unbelievable.

14 Aug 2026 18:05:03
Sorry, but Shanks is very capable of playing the single striker role. The issue is we are not providing him or any of the strikers chances. We are creating nothing. Thinking 4-5-1, but ensure the back 4 stay back & do not get involved in attacking. That would keep us more covered defensively.

2 cdms, 1 central attacking mid, 2 wingers then one up top given the squad we have, I think that's our best bet unless we get a few quality lads in the door before the end of the window. The recruitment & scouting needs ripped up & started again, it's clearly not working.

14 Aug 2026 18:09:00
We need to stop knee jerk going after people who are trying to help our club succeed. Before we judge McInnes, we need to let him start a game with 11 players playing in their actual positions.

We've been crying out for full backs and wingers, and the club have not got the business done. McInnes does not sign these guys himself. He must be raging at where the squad is at this point in the season.

14 Aug 2026 18:17:19
Ehl, what in the manager makes you delighted he's here long term? We as fans shout for time and patience, but does that now only extend to 3 or 4 games?
He is not my choice for manager, but he should be supported for a reasonable length of time. Still no progress then move him on.

14 Aug 2026 18:39:21
Wsl that's some view to have on things. I support Rangers FC and wish for us to win every single game we play, regardless of who is in charge or how their first fortnight as manager has gone.

Looks like we're a mess in the stands as well.

14 Aug 2026 19:11:02
A'hole, can you read English, it does say it would almost be worth losing, which means that I stopped short of saying it would be worth losing. I never thought it was worth losing to get rid of Martin and I'm not saying it now.I would never say I want Rangers to lose.
But I'm sorry you were shocked because you can't read.Get well soon

14 Aug 2026 20:17:30
Hammersrightoeg, what is your reply to Ehl all about? I don't get it at all.

14 Aug 2026 21:12:05
My reply was to his previous post when he said he reckons Del is here for the long term and he is delighted with that. Not a dig at Ehl, just a genuine question as to what he's seeing to make him feel like that.

Never been a McInnes fan, but think he deserves at least half a chance, not just 5 games. We have nothing to show for 4 games against 3 very average teams. What happens when we play a good side?

14 Aug 2026 21:39:24
Hammerrightoeg, cheers for the reply, mate. I'm like yourself, I wasn't for dm coming to our place to manage the club, but now that he is here he will have my full backing. The way I read Ehl's reply was he is hoping dm will be here long term as it's going to take a while to fix our playing side, but I also expect a few good players to sign for us before this window closes.

15 Aug 2026 02:27:49
Wsl - you can play on words all you want.

We all know you entertained the thought of us losing so as to get rid of a manager who's had 4 games in charge.

Never have I or the vast majority of fans ever even entertained the thought of wanting us to lose to get a manager removed.
