Devlin will be a Rangers player next season, sign after the World Cup, McIness wants him so that does for me, hopefully a squad player though.
26 Jun 2026 12:48:31
Just seen a similar message on Whatsapp.
I personally don't think he improves us, but I'll get behind him and whoever DM sees fit to play for us.
26 Jun 2026 13:12:00
So because McInnes wants him, that's good enough? How about if the player is good enough? Which he is not and doesn't improve us at all, and certainly doesn't bring what we actually need in MF.
Just takes up another squad place!
26 Jun 2026 13:19:44
The downgrade continues.
26 Jun 2026 13:29:45
In the words of Mourinho:-
"I prefer not to speak.
If I speak, I am in big trouble. In big trouble. And I don't want to be in big trouble."
26 Jun 2026 13:30:00
100% agree, John. He's not better than any of our midfielders imo.
26 Jun 2026 13:39:54
Bigbluejim, good enough for me. I said if he wants him signed, I did say hopefully a squad player, never seen him that often for thinking different from our manager.
Downgrade, John, I'd prefer McCrorie over Tavernier, I don't see that as any downgrade.
26 Jun 2026 13:45:20
This is getting beyond a joke with bang average players.
26 Jun 2026 13:46:15
Get ready for the snobbery comments.
26 Jun 2026 13:47:20
Devlin replacing Raskin would be a downgrade right enough, but thinking better will be signed when Raskin is sold.
26 Jun 2026 13:48:33
Rangers currently don't have a CDM. We don't have anyone as good as Watts, Devlin, etc. We have nobody to perform that role. Which is why Rohl ended up playing 4-4-2 for so much of last season.
We need a number 6.
Watt from Motherwell is the best in the country in that role. He performs it like a playmaker. Devlin is more the type to run around and break up play.
I'd rather have Watt and hope we still go in for him.
26 Jun 2026 13:50:29
Devlin is a good signing for the midfield revamp. He's better than many give him credit for.
Diomande and Raskin will go. Then we will bring in the more creative side of the midfield.
A sensible signing.
26 Jun 2026 13:54:55
McCinnes isn't here to win a popularity contest, he's here to win the league.
Back him and his decisions.
26 Jun 2026 13:57:17
Would rather have Cammy Devlin over Dan Neil.
Dan Neil had several opportunities to sign for us. Rangers should not have to convince anyone. Another player from down south that would most likely take 6 months to come to terms with Scottish football and then tell us "I didn't realise how big and intense Rangers was before I came here." We hear it far too often from those down south that underestimate our league.
Devlin, on the other hand, would want to be here and play for our manager. He already knows Scotland, Scottish football and the environment. His girlfriend's family are all Rangers fans. No doubt he'd be much more affordable than Dan Neil too. He's a fierce competitor and an internationalist.
It's an absolute no brainer for me. Happy for others to disagree but I want to see some fight in this team.
26 Jun 2026 14:05:40
If Devlin was coming in to replace Raskin I'd say it's a downgrade, but I doubt he is. He'll be coming in as most likely a rotation player, has a bit of grit about him, and will graft for McInnes.
He'll be replacing Barron or Dio if they're leaving imo, both of which were rotation players at the end of the season.
26 Jun 2026 14:05:48
BBJ, the point you're missing, my friend, is Derek McInnes rates Cammy Devlin and he thinks he's good enough and he'll be signed. That's the crux of it. ?
26 Jun 2026 14:08:03
Rohl with cheese. Devlin is very similar to Barron, only Barron is the better player.
26 Jun 2026 14:14:07
Is that sarcasm, John, or are you being serious?
26 Jun 2026 14:20:56
That's the issue right now. As it currently stands, we don't know who else will be brought in. In isolation, Devlin looks like an unnecessary addition, but if Barron goes, I can get it. Prefer Barron to stay and be developed.
P.S. We can support a manager / team without agreeing with everything they do. I'm not for supporting for supporting sake.
26 Jun 2026 14:26:35
Well said, trueblue. But that common sense seems to go over a few fans' heads. ?
26 Jun 2026 14:28:26
By all accounts, Raskin is as good as away. Rumours that Chukwuani wants away as he hasn't settled, and Diomande's agent is looking to get him a move, so we need to replace them.
If we get Ferguson, Watt and Devlin in, I reckon that would be a fair swap.
26 Jun 2026 14:34:05
If a club has offered serious money for, say, Connor Barron, who may want a move, and we get a similar player in for free in Cammy Devlin, then I can see the value here. If, on the other hand, Devlin was replacing, say, Raskin, though, I might feel an ever so slight sting. Things will make more sense once the dominoes start to fall.
26 Jun 2026 14:48:02
Great player Devlin on a free what's not to like. Head and shoulders above Barron. ? Ok, couple of inches taller. ? in.
26 Jun 2026 15:02:52
John, what do you mean the downgrade continues? Do you think Shankland and Mcorrrie are downgrades? As they are the only two signings we have made.
If Devlin is a Raskin replacement, then it's a 100% downgrade. However, if he's coming in to supplement the midfield and give us an extra number, or be a replacement for Barron, then I'd say it's an upgrade.
26 Jun 2026 15:24:14
Gazza, I'm 100% serious. We need action re real quickaiiity. I believe we will see two big big stars.
26 Jun 2026 15:30:07
Wishy, I mean the posters on here. Get rid Diomande, Chermiti, Raskin, Fernandes.
Bring in two, plus say Devlin, Neil, Graham McCausland, who would be good, we r told.
Not so long ago, we were talking Doeheki, Anderson, Dahl, a goalie at 8-10, Skogland et al.
26 Jun 2026 15:31:11
Devlin only scored 2 goals last season, I know he's a defensive midfielder, but that's poor stats. If he's that good, why is he free to leave?
26 Jun 2026 15:47:06
Whatsmyname, probably because the contract he was offered from Hearts, he obviously thinks he can get a better salary elsewhere.
Devlin isn't in the team for getting goals either, this happens all the time with cm's, many goals did Kante or Makelele get?
26 Jun 2026 15:49:35
He is free to leave because Hearts can't afford his wages anymore, Whatsmyname. It's not for want of trying. They have offered him a new improved deal. They just can't compete with the other interested parties. It will not be lost on Cammy Devlin that he is joining a huge club either, having watched his manager and captain take the leap in a heartbeat.
26 Jun 2026 15:51:13
Devlin isn't a goal scorer. How many has Raskin scored every season? Devlin does the dirty work and does it consistently well. Has done for years. Devlin has done better in the Scottish league in terms of performances than Raskin has.
Consistently a good player and a fighter. I do agree that we need a bigger name signing for midfield as a starter, but slating Devlin is shocking football knowledge. Especially when fans are happy to pay 5m for Watt who's had one good season.
26 Jun 2026 15:56:02
Alright, mate, I see what you mean. I think these players are all good additions, but I'd hope we would 100% be replacing Raskin with Lewis or someone that level, and I'd hope that the CB and RW starters are big money moves that really improve us.
26 Jun 2026 16:11:25
I think a lot of people replying to this rumour are forgetting how bad our midfield was at times last season. Is Devlin a world beater? Absolute not, will he start every week? I certainly don't think so.
But what he does give us is grit, passion and fire. I don't see any of those qualities in players like Bajrami, Aasgaard or Diomande, two of those three done absolutely nothing last season, the other was poor.
26 Jun 2026 16:26:06
I'm not missing any point, Coops, if McInnes thinks Devlin is good enough for Rangers then I'm even more worried about the appointment of him than I was previously! If this was a signing for any other SPFL side, then fair enough, but not for Rangers.
If we continue signing players who have never been good enough to win things in Scotland, then we won't win anything.
I want players signing who are better quality than we currently have, which, btw, finished 3rd.
26 Jun 2026 16:39:15
2 weeks into the window, bbj.
26 Jun 2026 16:42:31
Holy feck.
McInnes has now apparently never signed a bad player.
Devlin is getting mentioned in the same breath as Kante & Makele.
We've now gone from signing Scottish players, wth quality, who know the club, are Rangers daft to someone who will do the dirty work, grit, passion & fire. AKA = red card.
26 Jun 2026 16:56:03
bbj, I agree. We won't progress by simply adding squad players. We need to sign individuals who will push hard for a starting spot every single week.
Using Devlin and Ferguson as examples, how many would realistically say Devlin can challenge Ferguson for his position? When Ferguson knows the jersey is his by default, what motivates him to play at his best other than professional pride?
While I make exceptions for younger players brought in to develop, we generally need real challengers for every position.
McCrorie, and particularly Shankland, will bring that level of drive, but I just don't see Devlin, or Watt, to be honest, fitting that role.
I want us to play good attacking football and the players sometimes in these rumours don't fill me with confidence that will be the case. Especially since the players Rohl was looking at, Doehki, Anderson, Dahl were much higher quality. Even one step down, rather than 3, would still be acceptable.
26 Jun 2026 17:01:27
Not very difficult to work out why he was mentioned alongside them, Mph.
26 Jun 2026 17:02:14
John, so far I'm a solo over the mom with the business by the club.
McCinnes and his team over Rohl and his plus 1.5m or more is an upgrade, absolutely an upgrade on Rohl.
McCrorie is an upgrade on Aaron's Tav and Sterling.
Shanks is an upgrade on most our whole attacking line other than Chermiti.
Devlin is an upgrade on Chuckwuani.
If we get Ferguson, he's an upgrade on the entire squad bar Chermiti.
Names don't win games.
