Some go on about stats being the be all and end all on everything a player does and should be judged on 🤔Not the case and if you look at our superb young south Korean left winger and what he brings to Rangers especially in the attacking sense, you will see that stats don't tell the full picture 🤔 There's a very good article on Rangers review this morning regarding just this and what minsu kim brings to Rangers, without having the stats on goals scored and direct assists, absolutely worth a read 👌🇬🇧.

27 Oct 2026 09:55:12
Yes he brings a lot of flair and excitability which in turn creates gaps elsewhere but be in no doubt that he needs to start adding some numbers to his game.

Ryan Kent brought a lot of flair as does gassamma but when we inevitably go through a run of games that we are poor the lack of numbers will be the first thing highlighted.

27 Oct 2026 09:09:33
Too much reliance on computers & 'stats' imo.
If that's what they're using to judge him, god help us.
Wonder what the computer says about Messi's, 'walking' stats 😉😉.

27 Oct 2026 09:49:05
Absolutely BAR and minsu will eventually be better than Messi 🤔.

27 Oct 2026 11:24:12
NATO Bear, he brings everything else to our team so i don't agree that it's a must although of course we all want minsu to add goals but our team massively benefits with him in it and what he brings 🤔🇬🇧.

27 Oct 2026 12:03:26
We do because others are adding the numbers.

He needs to contribute materially as well.

27 Oct 2026 12:05:09
SWS, we benefit from his performances because others are providing the material contributions.

It has always confused me how some supporters absolutely adore players because of their work rate but ultimately do not provide many material contributions.

Connor Barron being possibly the prime example recently for Rangers.

Ultimately, minsu will be judged by his material contributions long term and inevitably when we go through a period of poorer form those individuals who do not contribute materially will get highlighted.

He looks an excellent young player and I am excited to see him play but he does need to add the numbers longer term.

27 Oct 2026 11:43:28
Spot on sws, but goal contributions will come, mate.

27 Oct 2026 11:57:05
Stats ruin our game now. They are easily manipulated to suit a players narrative. one stat from the good old days - Great Strikers win you games but great defenders win you Championships 🏆.

27 Oct 2026 12:17:39
Give the guy a chance goals will come, as some have said stats do not tell full story, you get some player high pass accuracy etc , but probably not made a forward pass or pass over a few yards in whole game.

27 Oct 2026 12:22:19
Or, maybe stats are hugely important and those who are looking at Minsu are looking at the wrong stats or using his stats incorrectly.

27 Oct 2026 12:32:14
EHL, stats are far too taken as gospel and don't paint the full picture of any player mate 🤔.

27 Oct 2026 12:54:28
I rely on my eyes these days! I think Ryan Kent was similar kind of player. His stats weren't great. Kim su is same when he's on the ball he makes things happen and pitch seems to open up. Great attacking threat . Ill give that article a read.

27 Oct 2026 13:19:27
I don't remember anyone saying stats are the be all and end all, but if every professional club in the world use them there must be something to it. Any club signing a player will look at stats, go watch the player, try get an idea of his character etc. Minsu 100% needs to add goals of which I'm confident he will, Ryan kent is prime example, brilliant on the ball, getting us up the park, opening up the game, but in the end was judged by the huge majority on his goals/assists, judged to be a failure.

All forward thinking players need goals and assists, wouldn't be considered to reach the next level if they didn't. I'm not putting pressure on the boy to start scoring now, as he's just in the door, but if like kent his numbers are 2/3 goals 3/4 assists a season for a few season's, do we honestly think we will get big bucks without those numbers? I don't!

27 Oct 2026 13:50:04
Stats can be manipulated either way to prove a point , just watching Minsu is enough to see he's top player who will only get better.

27 Oct 2026 14:12:13
I absolutely hate the fact that so many stats are now being used to show how good/otherwise players and teams are doing. My thoughts especially on the xG stats are that they are the most stupid figures I have ever seen! Win a game 2-0 but the xG is 4 and it's seen as a failure! Ridiculous, never once have I taken that particular stat seriously.

27 Oct 2026 14:25:14
I played with a number of internationalists and didn't need stats to tell me they were capable of playing with just about any team in Europe.
My eyes told me that.
Do you need stats to tell you that Mbappe or Yamal are world class?

27 Oct 2026 14:25:55
Kim has been really impressive and has made a huge impact on the team. From his first start he has made us look a much better side. I like him off the left, off the right and in the 10.

I think most of us really like the kid, but I also think he needs numbers to be successful over the season because I don't think we win anything unless we get those numbers from all of our forward players.

There are still question marks against all our wide players in terms of numbers. Time will tell but I am optimistic because for the first time in a long whIle we have good options in that area.

27 Oct 2026 14:37:50
DTB, XG is a really important stat and plays a big part in training and preparation - however it's misused so often by fans and pundits, so I completely understand why so many people share you're opinion.

It's very similar to my point above about Minsu. SWS says his stats don't tell the full picture, when in fact it's the opposite. The data and stats that the club use absolutely tell the full picture - however the data that SWS, or Rangers Review, are looking at probably doesn't.

27 Oct 2026 14:58:49
If u know your football u don't need stats to see a good or bad player.

They obviously help to break everything down to facts if u want to really get into it, stats don't lie guys, but for me anyway neither do my eyes.

Minsu is top drawer. Everything good we do goes through him and he makes a wonderful contribution to most out goals scored.

27 Oct 2026 15:54:57
How many players are getting bought through stats and not just talking Rangers look across the city, houg or however you spell it look top class for Bodo Glimt, but thankfully pure s**** for them do scouts still go to watch players.

27 Oct 2026 15:55:17
I loved Roy Keane's breakdown on what XG was on overlap.

27 Oct 2026 16:00:28
I much preferred the days when there was only the one stat that mattered and that was goals, the good old days when every game kicked off at 3pm on a Saturday, nobody cared who the officials were and players were judged on their performances.

27 Oct 2026 16:14:55
It's probably because of stats we signed guys like Makhana, Minsu etc. we are signing players due to their underlying data. I don't particularly understand it all myself but it's very important in the modern game.

27 Oct 2026 16:55:26
Stats tell you if a guy who is a world beater in division three has the physicality and physiology to be up to speed in the top division.

Watching anyone rip apart a team of lower level players easy.

Judging whether you want to spend millions on him is not so easy.

Guess what the first thing you need to know, whether he is physically capable for starters , that's stats.

27 Oct 2026 16:53:02
Three cheers I yearn for those days of 442 too mate.

Wishy, spot on in terms of those 2 I'd agree.

27 Oct 2026 17:53:48
No data will ever beat watching players play the game.

27 Oct 2026 18:10:04
I'm going to disagree with a few of the posters. I don't think he needs to add goals or assists. If he continues in this form until the end of the season with little goals or assists it will still be enough.

Because his attacking style is getting the whole team up the pitch and into dangerous areas where we can score. It doesn't need to be him doing the scoring - although if/when that happens he will be some even more valuable to the team.

27 Oct 2026 18:12:17
Luckily clubs don't need to choose one or the other mystar, they can do both, which every top club does for a reason.

27 Oct 2026 18:36:35
Obviously Boy blue, just saying nothing beats watching them play.

27 Oct 2026 19:37:10
Some people loved Connor Barron because he was and still is a young Scot who gave everything he had for the team and he is a very likeable person, in fact he is a great boy in everything he says and does, limited talent but heart of a lion and respectful with other people, that's why some people have a helluva lot of respect for the boy.

27 Oct 2026 19:17:45
Yakota still to come back in? Can he get in the side?
