£30 million in potential expenditure for absolutely zero improvement in starting lineup, far less in squad depth.

No thanks, SWS.

Makes no financial sense whatsoever, and strategically it is appalling.

19 Mar 2026 12:24:49
Still no improvement in this season's team. One or possibly two new signings aren't going to make much difference. Still not enough goals in the team from midfield, a striker who rarely scores, and raw youngsters on the left wing. We need a major overhaul again this summer, and this won't be enough.

19 Mar 2026 12:43:47
Are we not signing anybody this summer? ?? If we want to do well, we need a whole new attack.

19 Mar 2026 12:44:27
Ok, Aphelion, from that team I named, who in your opinion deserves to be in our starting 11. ?

19 Mar 2026 12:56:13
SWS, your post is absolutely nothing to do with who deserves to be in our current starting lineup!

You mention next season, so you are clearly alluding to the post-summer transfer window.

The strategic and financial dealings needed to provide that starting lineup border on lunacy.

It is corporate suicide to waste 2 windows' budget and make almost zero improvement or change to a lineup.

19 Mar 2026 13:13:11
That's not going to fill anyone with confidence, Walter, as Aphelion said (lunacy). Jesus wept.

I reckon this is possible depending on who we sell this summer.

Talk of Raskin away, Barron away, Fernandez away.

Tav away - loans away - some lingering players like Matondo away.

So where does that leave us?

New keeper - needed.

New right back - needed.
New centre back - needed.
Fernandez - possibly if not sold.
Rommens.

Barron - maybe if not sold.
New Number 8 if Raskin sold.
New 11.
New 10.

Chermiti - if not sold.
Naderi.

Adding in players needed for back up, etc.

It's another big summer.

But, sorry, have to say this - financial markets are going to be very wary with this war going on.

Will this put any brakes on the likes of Cavanagh wanting to spend needlessly?

God knows where fans are going to be financially come August.
The ridiculous rising fuel costs and food prices.
Talk of rationing fuel and medication supply being disrupted.

Think football might take a back burner if it carries on and the economy gets hit hard by this war.

Sorry, but it needs said whether you agree or not.
I'd watch this space. It's not getting better anytime soon, and I can see fans at some point having to check their finances on paying bills and attending football matches.

19 Mar 2026 13:49:26
Sir Walter, where are the goals coming from?
Where are the assists coming from?
Only Raskin has a goal in him from your midfield, and even then it's headers at corners. That team loses heavily to a full-strength Celtic.

19 Mar 2026 13:49:51
Looks like a team just based on what we have and some current rumours. Not exactly got a lot to go on to get shot down for. I'd expect a lot more changes than that will happen though, SWS.

19 Mar 2026 13:54:58
I feel that would be a standstill or regression off what we have just seen.

19 Mar 2026 14:49:07
We need to add goals first and foremost.

19 Mar 2026 14:50:31
That team doesn't win the league. It's no better than this year's.

19 Mar 2026 14:50:31
I would expect from that 11:-.
Sterling not to stay fit.
Djiga to be away back.
I like Barron, Chuckwuani & Raskin what they bring as individuals. But, from an attacking point of view, they aren't good enough and we need better / more than what they bring at times.

Not seen enough of Just.
Would prefer to rely on someone else than Chermiti for our goals.
And can't see Moore returning but would prefer Curtis anyway.

19 Mar 2026 16:06:33
If our starting 11 looks anything like that going into next season, then we will be a laughing stock. The point of transfer windows is to make a squad stronger, not stagnate!

19 Mar 2026 17:11:50
Paul86, I disagree. I think our attack is fine. Personally, I think the reason they're struggling is that not enough chances are being created. We're desperate for a couple of playmakers who create chances for strikers.

19 Mar 2026 18:26:04
The players we have will have also had a season of dealing with the demands, and a pre-season to be conditioned to play the way Rohl wants to.

Having said that, I would think that will be our starting line up. I don't think we will buy as many as others, but still expect around 5-6.

Excellent post, Stiggy boy. Seems to have been glossed over, unfortunately, bud. ??
