I lost a thread I wanted to respond to, someone wrote today re lack off goals from our front 4.
He referred to Chermiti Naderi Olosen and Moore. Less than 20 goals from our main 4.
However my real issue is lack off goals from our main 3 in midfield.
Raskin 3
Diomande 1
Barron 0.
This is killing us. Imagine any three from this 5, re goals, assists, not just their ability
Albertz.
Ferguson B
Arfirld.
BACK UO
DE BOER AND GIO. A lot off us were privilege to watch them live.
Imo a Rangers midfield should contribute 30/40 goals a season, minus penalties.

We need to get the ball in the box as well, John. ?
16 Mar 2026 21:43:57
I think it's both that are the problem tbh, John, however, threats from deep take the attention of defenders and give more space to attackers, so it's win win if the midfield can step up. Frustratingly, Raskin is capable but seems to me unwilling to take real risks to get in there.
16 Mar 2026 21:50:30
I agree, John, that midfield needs to be scoring more goals, 30-40 is maybe a bit of a stretch, but what we really need first is a 20+ striker.
16 Mar 2026 22:08:54
It's a good point that you make, John.
Absolutely, I agree that I'd like to see more goals coming from the midfield players.
For the remainder of the season, though, I just want to get behind the lads, as, with all the deficiencies you've pointed out and things that need to be addressed in the squad, we still have a chance at winning the league.
Looking ahead to next season, we definitely could benefit from signing a goal scoring creative midfielder that can operate in tight spaces and make runs beyond defenders.
16 Mar 2026 22:31:56
I agree, John. I keep hearing about the need for a proper No6 when we have ones who can do the job, but none of our midfielders are players who look like getting in and scoring, and we haven't had one in ages.
If our strikers are ones who like to drop deep, then our midfielders should be looking to get in behind too. Unfortunately, neither our forwards nor midfielders look to get in to score.
16 Mar 2026 22:56:10
Wish we had someone who can shoot from distance, also.
16 Mar 2026 23:22:28
Kaiser, out of who we have in our midfield, who do you think is capable of being our No.6? Not a single player we have has the ability to sit and dictate the tempo of our play, or the technical ability to make some killer passes imo.
17 Mar 2026 00:17:43
No, I agree with John. ? A mf 3 should be getting u 30 goals a season: 15 from the best attacker, and maybe 10 n 5 from the other 2. Then the back ups should weigh in with the odd one here n there.
17 Mar 2026 04:24:37
I agree, John. We're not creative enough, and we overpass the ball in midfield for me, with, like you say, no goal threat from the middle. ? Like I said in a post yesterday, we just don't move the ball forward fast enough, and we give opposition teams far too long to get set, which, of course, makes us easy to play against.
? We play way too many safe, sideways passes in the midfield for me. ?
17 Mar 2026 06:30:08
I know the post you're speaking about, John, and it's the first thing I thought of when I saw it.
17 Mar 2026 07:15:19
Bigblue, Raskin, Chucky Barron, and even Dio can all play that role. While we might want better, like in any position, the point was, as John was saying, we don't have any who score goals.
17 Mar 2026 07:45:47
John, a 30-40 goal midfield is a bit of a stretch in my opinion. Even up to 20 goals a season would be. A massive improvement.
17 Mar 2026 08:31:52
We should have strikers who are capable of scoring at least 15/20 a season if they are playing most weeks.
Got to agree, John, we don't have a goal scoring midfielder and only occasionally does Raskin get on the scoresheet.
17 Mar 2026 08:44:21
John, I have to agree, but, personally, I do think our main issue is we don't have that creative midfielder yet. All our mids are kinda the same player. We need that creative mid to create the chance for our strikers or wingers.
17 Mar 2026 10:34:53
We need a midfielder that creates and is willing to run into the box when on attack. We just don't. The only time it happens is when the opposing team is already back in defence, and we then just play it around the edges.
When countering, as most have said, we get the ball forward quickly, not a long ball punt and hope for the best, but 2-3 accurate passes. That said, we struggle to make one accurate pass.
17 Mar 2026 11:46:56
Cmac, only to stimulate debate. Nygren 20 so far.
So, your main three, and subbs, it's not a stretch.
Fergie scored 20 in a season. Albertz Deboer Airfield 12-15.
Davie tends to agree. Many value Raskin 20 million, others say Connor better.
So, is he worth more than 20? Rangers were prepared to allow Barron on loan, with obligation to buy, to Italy, 5 million.
Myself and many thought Cameron would score double figures for us. Simply, the step up was too big for him.
17 Mar 2026 13:16:33
I understood John's point, Kaiser, but you stated we have plenty who can play the No6 role, so I was asking who, as imo, we don't have any. Our midfield, for me, seems to be about winning the ball back and nothing much else.
17 Mar 2026 15:12:53
Bigblue, I suppose it's about priorities in what we need. U ask who, so I named 4 who can do a job in there for now, some more creative than others, granted. We have the regular debate about Raskin being a 6 or 8.
What we don't have is anyone who can score regularly, like John was saying. So what do we go for, another non scoring defensive midfielder who can sit and dictate, or one who can create and support the attack and score goals?
17 Mar 2026 13:24:55
Foolmonty we had a 20+ goalscorer and we ran him out of town
