That new Norwich City manager is doing great with them .wonder if he's a future manager for us?

28 Feb 2026 17:13:37
Not far off the playoff places now. Took over in the relegation zone. 4 wins in the last 5 games. He's been brilliant for them.

What a story if he took them to the Prem via the playoffs!

28 Feb 2026 17:23:26
Had his chance, couldn't beat Ross County, Dundee and Queens Park. Got sacked because he failed here.

28 Feb 2026 17:25:53
I tend to wonder why we sacked Clement when we knew the takeover was coming - perhaps we could have stuck with him and it would have been interesting to see what he would have done with the millions Martin wasted. He was the right man for the right job, but sadly at the wrong time.

28 Feb 2026 17:34:16
Clement is a good manager, SirStruth, and I absolutely wish him all the best, but I'm very happy with the manager we've got. ?

28 Feb 2026 17:34:25
Or, like others, he got sacked because he never got the time here. At some point, we need to accept that a manager needs time to build a team squad.

28 Feb 2026 17:37:06
We didn't have a crystal ball. Had his chance. If he hits the EPL he's in a better place for his future.

28 Feb 2026 18:15:05
Angus, yes, like others, he did not get enough time, but he also had no support from above, and was having to deal with things no coach/manager should have to deal with - no wonder the guy could not be successful.

Lovely gentleman, I, personally, wish him all the very best for his management career - if anyone deserves it, this guy does.

28 Feb 2026 18:29:39
You can tell now why he was so frustrated and stubborn in his interviews. He must have been under some stress with the shambles above him. They did him dirty.

Great to see him doing so well.

28 Feb 2026 18:31:37
Angus, he might have got more time, but certain results were the nail in his coffin.
You can't be getting beaten by Queens Park in the Scottish at Ibrox when the league form was hit and miss also. No coming back from that, even if he was the fall guy; the buck stops with him, I'm afraid.

28 Feb 2026 18:52:53
Now, correct me if I'm wrong, Clement was having to book stuff himself instead of the club organising it. Anyone remember the story, as I can't quite remember.

28 Feb 2026 18:59:24
Rosevale, personally, I think he should have got time even after that. As others have said, there was so much other rubbish going on, he had no support and didn't get to sign players he wanted to take us onto the next step.

All gone now and hope he does go on to get Norwich up and playing in the EPL. Hopefully they can stay there, as the success rate for that is only 1 in 3, I think.

28 Feb 2026 19:13:25
Mvg, they are still 12 points from the play offs.

28 Feb 2026 19:35:02
Wasn't good enough, I'm afraid. Crumbled.

28 Feb 2026 19:39:11
Not for me, Angus, your opinion, of course. No surprise he went soon after that defeat.
I'm sure Stewart said in an interview after he was sacked that the defeat to Queens had a huge bearing on the decision to sack him, so there you are.
When that type of result happens, it tends to lead to one thing.

28 Feb 2026 20:26:34
Good luck to him. He did well by Rangers. Never played us for money when he could have. Still a lot of respect for the guy. I think if he had the benefit of American owners, he could have done well.

I'll definitely be supporting Norwich for a long-shot play-off place, and supporting them next year to go up if they don't pull off a miracle this year.

28 Feb 2026 21:17:33
He had difficulties, but so has every other manager. Results weren't good enough, pure and simple. Hope things work out for him, but we moved on to something better now.

28 Feb 2026 22:09:00
Kaiser, in his first season here, we thought we were onto something better as well. Then a few bad results and we were utterly out of the league. What happens if the same happens now? Have we learnt patience as a club, board, support, or will our frustrations and impatience cause us to react the same again? I really hope not, and I hope the board at least hold strong this time.

28 Feb 2026 22:23:48
I don't think we have to, Angus. If there's a bad result tomorrow, the knives will be out, not that I agree with it.

28 Feb 2026 22:26:32
How much time do they need, Angus? Queen's Park was one step too far for him, and I liked him.

Going by what you say, should we have given Russell Martin more time?

28 Feb 2026 23:05:52
Storm, I know you're extremely mixed up ATM. Remember we're playing Celtic at Ibrox tomorrow with a 12 noon kick off ? ??. Just keeping you right, pal. ?

01 Mar 2026 08:21:47
Storm, with Martin for a while I did think that, like all managers, they need time. However, it very quickly became obvious that he wasn't right for the job, so the answer is no. Even I wouldn't have given him more time.

Re Clement in particular, and other managers in general, I always think they need time to build a squad and team to get us into a position to challenge. I don't think that part happens as quickly as we all want, though.

Then, as a secondary point on keeping faith with managers, all teams go through bad patches and have shock results. We need to have more patience when that happens, to allow them to get it back on track.

With Clement, the board removed a lot of funding and he had to do a lot of the non-manager stuff himself. I think if he had been here at the start of the season, then, firstly, Martin wouldn't have been, and, secondly, he would have got the players he had always wanted, and we would be in a better place.

It doesn't matter now, but he was probably the only manager I felt didn't get the right rub of the green. Others think differently, and, in the grand scheme of things, none of it matters.
