I would have Skov Olsen in a heartbeat.
Even if he is supposedly having a terrible time of it in the Bundesliga.
Which is a far higher standard than the SPFL.
Because he is still better than what we have.
League matches.
Skov Olsen:-
8 matches.
1 goal.
14% goal conversion.
85% passing accuracy in opposition half.
17% accurate crosses.

56% ground duels won.
Mikey Moore:-
17 matches.
3 goals. 1 assist.
11% goal conversion.
72% passing accuracy in opposition half.
16% accurate crosses.
37% ground duels won.
Gassama:-
22 matches.
1 goal. 2 assists.
2% goal conversion.
76% passing accuracy in opposition half.
11% cross accuracy.
58% ground duels won.

Yet he is a failure MPH. We should just get Just, Watt and Gogic for our title challenge.

12 Jan 2026 14:22:12
Aphelion he was done nothing at 2 clubs out of 4, I said 50% success rate, but you can read it however you want mate.

12 Jan 2026 14:30:11
I believe this is media speculation anyway, after looking at his salary, I just can't see Rangers paying his wage, it's around double our biggest earner.

12 Jan 2026 14:38:37
Aph, do l detect a bit of sarcasm ?.

12 Jan 2026 15:02:55
Aphe, given Olsen's struggles at Wolfsburg, I can understand people's concerns, especially with the figures mentioned for a loan fee and transfer fee. They are huge sums for us. Personally, I think he'd be a great signing and would be a step up in quality. There is however always risk and no guarantees with signings. The 3 players you mention have all been doing well in Scotland and they would possibly be a lower risk as they know the league and understand the unique nature of Scottish football.

They would also be a lot cheaper to buy and be on a much lower salary, so less of a disaster if they don't work out. I think the 3 players you mention would improve our squad (possibly not Gocic imho, but that's up for debate), where as Olsen would massively improve our first 11, so no one is necessary right or wrong here.

12 Jan 2026 15:08:14
I'd take gogic ?.

12 Jan 2026 15:13:43
What's wrong with Watt am sure if he was Scandinavian you would feel differently?

12 Jan 2026 15:25:18
all signings are a risk no matter how they have performed or otherwise at previous clubs. if it is a loan the. that takes an element the risk out of what would be a high transfer fee for the club. If an obligation then all it has done is nudged that fee to end of season. If he performs no issues; if he doesn't then you know the conversations.

actually if he isn't good in first two games he is considered a wage stealer ?.
personally although it isn't sure the fact that Cerny performed similarly with the same club and came here and did will fills me with some confidence he will succeed. that and his record in similar rated leagues.

12 Jan 2026 15:34:20
Sorry, has done nothing at 2 out of 4.

12 Jan 2026 15:42:33
Olsen would be a quality signing, I personally think he'd drastically improve his numbers playing for Rangers.

12 Jan 2026 15:50:33
WATP yes sarcasm my friend, My star I have not mentioned you and have not implied I anything to do with you.

Der Hammer 1 out of the 3 i mentioned would maybe help our squad but I will ask how many clubs have they been successful at?

Skov Olson played 71 matches in Italy, hardly a failure.

What did Cerny do in Germany?
What did Sima do in England?
What has Jadon Sancho done outwith Dortmund.

Some players don't settle quickly and some clubs don't allow for it, like Wolfsburg.

He hasn't done nothing at 2 clubs. But in between the 2 clubs mentioned he had a very successful spell in Belgium.

12 Jan 2026 16:10:55
Aphe, how many clubs they have been successful at is one metric. How they are playing this season is another metric. I wouldn't rule any player out on either. The reality is, if Olsen was flying and playing really well for Wolfsburg and getting great numbers, then we wouldn't even be having this debate as he would be way beyond our reach.

I think he can be a quality player especially for us in our league, but there are never any guarantees and the risk is higher the more you pay.

12 Jan 2026 16:11:31
Newtonards not at all.

My star says Olson failed at Bologna and Wolfsburg but their are people who want us to sign Watt who was deemed a failure at Burton Albion.

Surely you can see what I mean when mentioning these players.

I will always be honest about players.
That's why I was completely against us signing Norwegian midfielder Emil Bohinen.

12 Jan 2026 16:12:56
My Star, I wonder if you remember a Danish Winger we signed a good few years back who flopped playing in Italy. I believe he and his brother were full Danish internationals.

As far as I recall, that Danish player did okay here, in fact I think he has a Scottish cup final named after him when his performance was that good he outshone someone who scored a hat trick! I am sure you, like everyone else on here, will know who I am talking about!

12 Jan 2026 16:16:45
Olsen is always the one that dies during any surface mission in star trek. But I have a good feeling about this one.

12 Jan 2026 16:25:20
DOB yes but he wasn't on double our biggest earner, that needs thought about, well it does for me.

12 Jan 2026 16:25:47
Most of the players we signed from England did nothing at their previous clubs but they played in a better league right?

Isn't Italy and Germany not better leagues than the Championship?

Somehow you have concerns about a Danish international with 40 caps and played in Italy and Germany?

12 Jan 2026 16:37:57
We can't be paying the kind of wage he is on, firstly that's how you get into bother and secondly would sow discontent throughout the squad with someone on that kind of money. What happened to being sustainable.

12 Jan 2026 16:38:24
Der Hammer I take into account players that are playing well this season. Does not mean they can be Rangers players.

Plenty players look amazing in their small pond but can't do it at Rangers.

What I can say is Skov Olson can and has more league title wins than our entire team.

12 Jan 2026 16:58:10
Skov Olson on the right deal. wpupd be a superb signing a real statement with intent in my opinion.

12 Jan 2026 17:22:57
Aphe, I agree, playing well currently in our league doesn't necessarily mean they will continue that form if they sign for Rangers (many don't), but I'd say it's a good metric. We've seen what these players can do week in week out in our league and how they cope with the speed, physicality and weather etc. I agree with you that Olsen has the potential to be an excellent signing and a real step up in quality, so I really hope we sign him, but it comes with a huge price tag and more risk than say signing someone like Tawanda Maswanhise for a much smaller fee and salary.

I'm by no means comparing the two players (as there is no comparison in quality and career) but for me it's around the level of risk and how best to spend the transfer budget we have.

12 Jan 2026 17:36:17
If we can bring him in on sensible wages then it would be an amazing signing.
Every signing has risk but he has proven ability.

12 Jan 2026 17:45:43
what money are Rangers going to pay him. he was earning high £20ks at start of Wolfsburg contract and the same at Brugge and Bologna. so he may be willing to go back to that level to come to us.

he dropped money to move to Brugge, he increased slightly originally to move to Wolfsburg. and that is according to the salary guessing sites. so people don't know.

12 Jan 2026 17:45:49
Whilst I get what you are saying my star about his wages…. that can be offset by not having Matondo, Tavernier, Davies, Rothwell, Danilo, Dowell and whoever else is on over inflated wages that may be away in next 6 months.

And if he's a game changing signing then it's worth it…. we all wanted sima and cerny who are on large sums and neither are as good as Olsen IMO.

12 Jan 2026 17:47:17
Skov Olsen is no more a risk than Chermiti, look at the outlay for him? His records hardly got the fans excited when he was signed. With Olsen u would get a seasoned international with vast experience. If a player like that is available and interested in joining then it would be pretty crazy not to explore that, he is still quite a young man as well, coming into his peak years.

Personally I think if we landed him he could be an exceptional signing, a massive coup by the club and an upgrade on our starting 11.

12 Jan 2026 18:05:32
If skov Olsen genuinely wants to come to Rangers i am sure both teams can come to an agreement that suits both parties, if its down to money other teams will be involved to pay more than us, i don't think personally we will go overboard and pay stupid money, cerny came fom the same team as Olsen, both are put in the shop window to get the best deal, olsens times up at Wolfsberg 6 month loan suits them and us.

12 Jan 2026 22:06:33
I think all the signings from the past though were meant to be part of the solution which won us the league. that didn't go so well so I wouldn't think we should consider going down the same road again in case it didn't work. we now will have a salary ceiling and won't go above it if we have any sense.

BTW I understood Luadrup was offered £30k per week for his final contract offer before he left. so we have paid silly wages for a while now.

13 Jan 2026 05:20:31
Absolutely not called for newtonards and the vast majority on here absolutely respect and rate Aphelion as one of the very best posters on this site ?He contributes a helluva lot to this site and for me personally i love his wealth of knowledge he shares with us, regarding the scandanavian market ?.
