So do people still think RM will be backed or do we think he will get sacked soon? Asa? John? Ehl? I know you guys don't like to post as much but some hope would be greatly appreciated, hope you are all doing well.

Rfc he gets more time unfortunately.

More time and more money. What i did notice yesterday though was that we played a lot better football. Not so many pointless martin ball passes at the back etc. a lot happier with that style of play. If we had played that way 1st 3 games we would have won a couple far more aggressive imo.

I think it was about this time last week that I posted that I had a great deal of respect for Thelwell as he was taking steps to give Martin additional support.
From what we've seen and heard it looks like this is having a positive impact - so hopefully we see a marked difference when we come out the international break.

Good balanced post EHL,
I seen a lot of improvements yesterday and a couple of moments going in our favour and we'd have had a comfortable win.

Anyone with any intel however vague as to why we are spending £8m+ on the Everton striker who can't score? - it makes no sense unless part of some bigger deal involving other players?

Great Post ehl, appreciate your input and thank as always John, we can only hope things improve soon because we can't keep going like this.

Give his typical smugness it's clear he's going nowhere. Sorry EHL I find it hard to agree with you on Thelwell. He's been an unmitigated disaster. Was terrible at Everton. Bringing in Martin to begin with. A whole load of league one/ championship standard players and now looking to throw £8m on very risky untried Everton kids who's barely kicked a ball. Yes we thankfully were more solid defensively against a Celtic team devoid of confidence or anything but at the same time we offered absolutely nothing going forward. 10 weeks in and still not a single positive thing can be said of improvement in this team.

EHL you said at the time you couldn't say anymore, is there anything now you can hint at. Ie type of support? Or in your view, is it the type of support he should have had at the start and was let down or the type he shouldn't have needed but does need?

Was wondering the same Lanzarote, why pay at least 8 mil for a current Everton B player who hasn't scored when we could go out and get an experienced proven goalscorer for that kind of money or less. If he fails then its all on Thelwell.
01 Sep 2025 08:07:24
I agree guys i seen improvements but we're still hardly creating anything for our poor striker who's isolated a lot of the time with no help and nobody close enough to him, we hardly get any shots at goal, never mind on target ?We need someone of the talent of bajrami to play close/ just behind miovski to get the best out of our striker as he can thread through the killer ball even in the tightest of defences and Miovski with his clever runs will score goals for us imo ?.

Lanzarote
Bit unfair, given his playing time, scored 5 goals, 3 assists. He was seen as next Ronaldo. Portuguese boy, played high level football. Wanted by many but chose us. Maybe playing time I dunno. I await with excitement. Oh and he's fast.

Agreed Kasier only improvement was we didn't lose a goal yesterday. Going forward we were worse than we usually are let's not kid ourselves on. Yesterday was not good enough some are only happy because we thought we were going to get pumped. If we don't start creating we ain't even coming 2nd this season.
01 Sep 2025 08:23:07
Totally agree Kaiser. Don't agree with EHL . Thelwell will if course give RM support. It's his choice to bring in RM. If RM fails, he fails. So no credit for supporting this appointment which is on a life support machine.

I think we need to add a little context to the "improvements" yesterday. While I agree, it was a marked defensive/ structural improvement (night and day really) on what Martin has dished up so far, we have to remember that he'd taken us so far backwards in the regard in his initial time at the club that yesterday was, at best, just a return to baseline from the previous manager who was nowhere near as defensively inept as we'd seen from Martinball so far.
You don't get to make things worse, then put it back to close to how it was and claim that as improvement.
Offensively we were still as bad yesterday as we have been all season.
I think we're all resigned to Martin getting more time, unfortunately, but I wonder how much time he'll give it himself if he was told to play that way yesterday.
It was, in no way, the type of football, in style or setup, that Martin wants to play. None of the patterns we've seen, crosses allowed, long balls allowed, very little messing about playing out from the back, no centre midfielders running into wide areas, fullbacks allowed to attack, different shape. To get a 0-0 draw he had to rip up everything he stands for and revert to more "standard" practices. And we looked much better for it.
He's said many times words to the effect that he'd rather fail his way than succeed someone else's. So will be interesting to see if he returns to his own methods after the international break, or if he continues with those methods scrapped in favour of more workable football.

So well improved that we didn't score and nor any shots on target. yeh great let's have more of that please. FS
How far have we fallen that this is acceptable?
01 Sep 2025 10:13:29
Who Thelwell needs to support him it's his man and his job on the line as well both need to go.
01 Sep 2025 10:13:46
Sounds promising EHL ?.
01 Sep 2025 11:16:17
EHL did the talks between us the Jose's team break down?
