With all the talk of a replacement manager coming in, are we being realistic with the names being mentioned on here, would someone be willing to come and not be able to bring in any players themselves, I understand the argument that it's not the manager picking players supposedly now but I, m sure they would still like to get guys in they like or know.

Like a few of the lads on here I really have some blind loyalty but even I'm sick of this and its correct what's been said some players are have regressed from last year, new players, I give time and I think if the right manager gets a grip of them we could come good.
RM appears to me as if he is stubborn or stupid because he can't honestly believe what he is seeing is good. It's utter gash and he comes out with the same tripe after every game. The old saying be careful what you wish for, this merry-go-round of managers has to stop or it's just more years of turmoil. Absolutely gutted just now, so deflated.

Shota in most clubs at a higher level I very much doubt that any manager actually identifies individual players. I would be more worried whether any quality manager would want to come to a club where they agree a process and then sack him after 3 months.
25 Aug 2025 19:26:01
That's why shota i tend to believe that the guy that was allegedly sounded out on friday was indeed barry ferguson and i was told this and told they would be given the job until the end of the season and if significant improvement was made it would be there's on a more long term permanent basis ?.
25 Aug 2025 19:28:05
Shota I think it's a mute point mate because don't think RM will be sacked anytime before jan if at all. Hope i'm wrong.
25 Aug 2025 19:57:01
Walter guy I refer to on Friday not Scottish.
25 Aug 2025 20:05:06
No Scottish managers as far as I am aware.
None were on shortlist in summer and that remains the case.
25 Aug 2025 20:06:10
Why would they bring Fergie back, are we forgetting that we shipped many goals under him tae and played some awful stuff. Pretty sure they will already have certain contingency plans and folk they would consider should they need to replace RM (they do ofc)
25 Aug 2025 20:11:10
But i was told this also John, only passing on what i was told mate ?.

Danny Rohl John ?.

I'm torn, I really am.
We've had a long line of foreign/ English managers since coming back to the SPFL who have tried to impose their will on the Scottish game but who have failed miserably, because the slow, boring, possession based continental style (all of the Temu Pep's) doesn't work here.
Postecoglu worked because it wasn't that. They attacked quickly, with pace and movement. Gerrard, to an extent, was similar. Not the same, but certainly more progressive and attacking than anything we've seen since.
SPFL games are won in the transition between defending and attacking, where the low block has opened to attack you and you get at them quickly before they reset back into the block. Possession based styles that play side to side in front of them are mostly it useless. They're reliant on someone breaking and exploiting the mistake, but these teams don't care if you're just playing in front of them. That's mostly their actual game plan, then hit on break or play on set pieces.
So I'm not convinced about another possession based, slow build up foreign manager.
I also don't think Ferguson should be anywhere near the job. He didn't do enough in his caretaker spell and I just don't think he's a good enough manager to make the difference. As much as he was one if my favourite players, I think it's a step too far for him.
McInnes I think could be a decent option, but I don't think he'd take it. He's time served and knows the game here, but it's savvy enough to know he wouldn't be a fans favourite choice so would be under pressure at the first wobble. I'd personally give him a shot if he were interested.
Looking at foreign coaches, Muscat is still the one who jumps out given his similarity to Postecoglu and his experience at the club, so knows what we're about. I think that ship has likely sailed though.
The one thing I'm sure about is Martin was never and will never be the one.
But I also don't see the value in replacing him with another clone of the same style of football that's failed the last 4 permanent managers. They've all been slightly different flavours of the same thing, this iteration clearly the worst of all of them.

Coops I honestly don't care what you were told Barry Ferguson hadn't been sounding out again and will not be back as manager.
25 Aug 2025 21:00:08
BbJ we haven't and won't.
25 Aug 2025 21:23:45
There no chance barry will be bk please stop.
25 Aug 2025 22:04:05
I don't want Barry back.
26 Aug 2025 06:48:39
Nailed it gdog, we keep hiring managers who play the wrong way to break down and beat Scottish teams, while muscat isn't the perfect choice he ticked so many more boxes than anyone else mentioned in terms of style of play and understanding of the club and of the unique nature of scottish football, if Martin had had the same results but we were watching some exciting football he would've bought himself some time but the fact we are watching utter dross and not winning has made him a dead man walking.
26 Aug 2025 06:52:29
Bigblue to bw fair they were already shipping goals before he arrived at the club and of course that defeat to queens park he did not get a transfer window like martin where he has brought in 3 defenders and defense still rotten
And ferguson and co started to improve us going forward and our set pieces
I give you they were not good at back but when you consider the coaches
Fergison.
26 Aug 2025 07:07:58
Dont know if i posted that or deleted in error rain but was regarding barry improving attacking and set pieces but still bad at back consider his coaches
Ferguson himself . midfielder
Mccann winger
Dodds striker
Just add a defnding coach to that team and i think you see a big improvement think for how very little our so called wing backs do or however you want to label them we are better getting more defensive rb and lb any player should be able to cross a ball not like standard of cross from those players were great anyway
442 for me two forwards at least one of them a bruiser will caise havoc in this league have we forgotten walter blueprint even Celtic went with hartson sutton vanhooijdong venegoor of heselink big guys work in our league look at hassle dykes caused Celtic our team is way too small and not physically imposing for our game.
