Question for all, do you prefer cash and a hard time or less cash and lower level of opposition, I think I would prefer to drop down to the Europa League. Just my opinion.

13 Aug 2025 12:47:25
£40m isn't to be sneezed at and CL attracts a better calibre of player.

13 Aug 2025 12:59:16
Cash and a hard time.

13 Aug 2025 12:59:22
I'm with u mate.

13 Aug 2025 13:07:14
It'd be less embarrassing if we did drop down.

13 Aug 2025 13:08:29
Ludicrous question. Of course we prefer the Champions league you get 2.1 million per game for that opposed to £400,000 for Europa ?.

13 Aug 2025 13:10:06
You should always strive for the best, regardless.

13 Aug 2025 13:12:51
I am of opinion that if we qualify for CL we will get annihilated most games if we play the way we have. Europa league we may get a better run, but I can't see us getting out of the league stage at the moment.

13 Aug 2025 13:14:58
No scrambled that money will help us to be able to attract a better standard of player to build our squad. I honestly think we will get a couple of maulings this season with this strange way of playing, but 30/ 40 mil will cushion it. I understand it won't be beneficial to the teams moral, but I wasn't expecting a title this year, that will come next year. We need to remember that no matter how much money our owners have, we need to make money to spend money, there's no better place than the cl. Remember also that the last time in cl we were ravaged by injury, worse than I personally had ever known.

13 Aug 2025 13:15:14
The more income we have, the more we can spend so CL money is better.
This team are getting shafted no matter what comp we are in so CL preferred.

13 Aug 2025 13:16:52
There is an interesting dilemma in terms of how to invest the additional UCL money within the current reporting period.

13 Aug 2025 13:17:04
Champs league qualification is just a bonus to gers n tic take our blue shades off were both europa league level teams gers have shown that over the past 4/ 5 yr.

13 Aug 2025 13:18:43
Idiotic take, if we won the EL we would earn less than just for qualifying to the CL around 10-12 million Euro's, also if we qualify for the CL we cost Celtic 9 million Euro's so i take it you want Celtic stronger financially while again holding us back financially.

We could easily get the same kind of draw Celtic got last season and we will get points.

13 Aug 2025 13:21:09
The europa runs have been good but cl brings in double the money and hopefuly meaning better signings as more cash in the bank.

13 Aug 2025 13:22:33
CL might attract a better calibre of manager if we have to hit the nuke button on Russell Martin early.

13 Aug 2025 13:25:31
It's not actually £40m Big (wish the papers would stop throwing around that figure) . It's about £16/ £17m for reaching league phase (still not to be sniffed at) . The rest is made up from amounts paid for wins/ draws and the position the team finishes in at the end of the league phase. Sooo lose all your games and finish last and you're getting little more than the qualifying amount (ps yes I know there will also be tv money and gate receipts, I'm talking purely about winnings) . (Pps, also not saying that's what would happen but unless things start to click fairly soon, it could ?)

13 Aug 2025 13:50:49
The new format in Europe group stages gives you a chance to get points so Champ league all day long, two elite teams two top class teams and usually a good chance to pick up points in the other four, the luck of the draw can be huge at same time, thought Celtic won a watch last season in their draw.

13 Aug 2025 13:52:18
Although it's all irrelevant if we can't beat Club Brugge. Which looks unlikely.

13 Aug 2025 14:07:18
Gers78nits actually over 40 mill. 17 for entry, co officient money, tv money, then prize money on top of 7 home games min at around 15 mill.

13 Aug 2025 14:26:36
Dont know about you guys but I've no interest in doing well in Europe lobg term yes qualifying for CL financially would be ideal but its domestically i want to see us start winning and closing the gap and it just does not look like that is happening so far. Yes takes time players need to settle, gel etc but unfortunately time is very rarely given when your at our club i hope things turn vety soon as RM is already running out of excuses and losing some of the fans that are prepared to give him the chance/ benefit of the doubt.

13 Aug 2025 14:35:37
Gers78 we also get something called the value pillar which as far as I can see is the old media cash. 75% of €853M is split between European and non-european element of the equation. last season it was reported that Celtic made €11M out of that element.

so Champions League for the cash and accept we aren't at that level yet and may take a few heavy results against us. Cash will help to build us further.
