Every game he will have a different type of role depending on the opposition . tell you what though, I was very impressed with him last night . he looks the part. kinda Andrea Pirlo look about him.

Ummm No.6. Mainly cause that's where he has been bought to play, he plays as a 6, his strength is in taking the ball, dictating the play, moving the ball on quickly and passing in general. Oh and to top it off, we've literally given him the No. 6 jersey.

I think he will control games this season when he's fully fit. Once we have settled midfield we will see him flourish. Let Dio and Raskin go concentrate on creating with Big Joe playing almost like a quarter back.
Hes a quicker more complete and technical version of Lundstrum imo.

Rothwell has been an 8 all his days but done very well with Leeds last season as a 6 sws, he can still drive us up from park when playing as a 6, Joe is a very good footballer and a top signing for Rangers.

Only asking the question of all our opinions Fork, as rothwell has played as a no.6 and a no.8 throughout his career ? I personally prefer him as our no.6 playmaker and especially as he's now entered into his 30's.

You do get excited a bit early a lot SWS. Need to let people settle in. Also I doubt many on here followed Rothwells career, prior to joining us. If there is a lot who claim they have, then majority of them are liars.
{Ed001's Note - he was playing for Leeds last season, pretty much every game televised. I managed to watch a fair bit of him, so I don't see why others couldn't have.}

I was being a little sarcastic with the comment about him being given the number 6, although it is sometimes the case that players get or play with the number that best represent there position, no. 9's tend to be the strikers 2 and 3 tend to be the full backs etc. it's clear from the way we set up last night and from what Martin said about Rothwell that he wants him playing the '6' role, so maybe the fact he was handed that number wasn't just merely a coincidence ?.

Ed what position did he play last season for Leeds? Also tbf to me, I did say his career, not so much just last season. And I still think not many on here would have been tunes in ro see Leeds play nearly every week, unless you had a soft spot/ support them!
