Will be interesting to see what RM can get out of Jefte and try to improve his defending and tendency to switch off. Always liked Ridvan but injuries stop a good run of games to really get to see what he is all about. I think Fraser has done well on the few appearances he's had.

If ridvan leaves we need a new left back, if he doesn't then we've got two decent left backs in my opinion. Would say currently the right wing position is a lot weaker than left back.

Yilmaz easily IMHO sws, Jefte can only improve but should never be our number one left back just now, many positives in his game right now but also just as many things to get worked on, injures is going stop Yilmaz having the career he should have.

Jefte is very quick and agile. but cannot defend, lacks any spacial awareness and final ball seriously lacking. What i wohld give fir another left back with barisic delivery. Ridvan currently our best LB at the moment imo.

Currently Ridvan is the best option defensively, but injured far too much and misses large chunks of the season, Jefte has to have serious protection if he plays left back as he isn't disciplined enough defending and cost a lot of goals last season not picking up the runner.
Haven't saw much of the boy Fraser so can't comment on that one.
For me it's obvious we need a left back, can't hope that Jefte is going to become a good defender overnight, for me it looks like his game is going forward and not doing the hard yards.

Agree rosevale cost us a heap of carbon copy goals last season. Exactly like man u winner. Switching off at the back post. No clue what is around him. Were certainly weak in that dept and am sure RM will see we need to strengthen there.

3 things I'd like from Jefte this season:
-A better delivery
-Do a better job at tracking runners ("he's behind you")
-When he strides forward with the ball - play it forward sometimes, not back to the CB.

SWS, I'd say Jefte overall is the better of the 3, but Fraser offers something different.
Yilmaz would be my third choice out of who we have.

I'd say jefte if 3 cbs, yilmaz if playing a 4. That said, think yilmaz will be sold and another LB brought in.

Surprised at that EHL when his defending has cost us numerous times last season.
Your opinion of course, I played full back at a decent level when I was younger and I know the game has changed but can't accept full backs not tracking the runners.
He also has a tendency to pass players on when they already have a man.
I'm not a fan of the boys defending and am sure if he is the left back then he will cost us goals again.

Take the money for Ridvan and add another LB - Jefte will come good imho -he just needs steadying influence around him to keep him focussed.

Rosevale, it interesting that he gets singled out for the blame - however when reviewed more often than not he's the one that's followed the game instructions and it's the players around him that are either out of shape or haven't communicated clearly.
A good example is that both Clement and Martin prioritised working on his attacking attributes and not his defensive attributes.
In my honest opinion, he's become a bit of a scapegoat.

Jefte i feel will have the better career of the 3 and although defensively has to improve i agree with EHL, i also think jefte is the better of the 3 ?.

Hear hear EHL, well said. A few times last season when he was getting pilloried, he was in attacking position and someone gives the ball away, making him look poor. Same can be said for Tav on a few occasions. I like the lad, fast, superfit and will only get better.

I am with you on that one who he is the new scapegoat. Yilmaz never has been good enough even when fit you can count on the one hand how many good games he has had. But if a change that injuries going to stop him to he was gona be a great player ?.

EHL there have been plenty of occasions last season where he switched off and it cost us, not saying he's the only one guilty of that, but the discussion was based on left backs.
Personally I'm not making him a scapegoat for the overall defence, just think the boys a poor defender.

Yilmaz may be slightly better defensively but his distribution is poor and watching him cross balls in to the crowd behind the goal at Dens Park last season was the final straw for me . If you factor in how often he is out injured we should sell if someone is daft enough to make a decent offer.

That cool Rosevale, everyone is entitled to their opinion.
However from within the club and through the analytics he's not been at fault for many goals over the course of the season.
Another good example was the friendly against Bruges. Seen many blaming him for the first Bruges goal - which upon review wasn't the case within the club.

Depends what the definition of 'at fault for a goal is'. What I've seen multiple times is Jefte jogging back and not busting a gut to chase down the attacker or where he has just lost his player at back post. In the first scenario there is no guarantee he stops an effort or goal but it looks like lack of effort. He looks much better going forward. As per earlier post, interested to see what RM gets out of him.

Jefte isn't good enough.
No point having a good engine as a full back if u can't cross a ball and don't defend so well.

Jefte is a very good young player who had a mixed first season with us. Started really strong in a very poor team then fell away as the season went on. He had very little support from players around him last year, nothing from LW and little support from midfielders in the 4231 formation.
We do need another left back because Yilmaz needs moved on as he has contributed less than Jefte even though he has 3 seasons at the club, has also cost us a lot more money than Jefte.
I expect Jefte to kick on this season if we can get a capable LB in to actually back him up, rather than the ever unavailable, extremely inconsistent Yilmaz.
