the question made me think more about a couple who almost got there:
Ronaldinho and Marhez almost signed for St Mirren. Ronaldinho as part of his move to PSG and Mahrez who went on trial but it was too cold for him. what a pair of signings that would have been.

One most underrated players I felt at the time was Gorgi Nemzadze while he was at Dundee very gifted player who could have easily played for old firm. frank sauzee is a great shout though.

Angus didn't know about Ronaldinho just checked it Brazilian fa basically blocked it.
Remember being in paper about R9 loved him as a player.
Also papers reports that big eck was trying to sign Messi at one point also.
Would have loved Jardel also.

There were 2 players we were constantly linked with, and if both had signed, they would have been some players for us. Gary Mac was one, and the other was Javier Zanetti. Gary Mac was a Rangers supporter, but didn't want to play in the SPL again, and Zanetti went on to be one of the best fullbacks in the world and was quickly out of our price range.
