What are we looking for in the next Rangers manager?
Staunchness, Rangers minded - Ferguson, McInnes.
EFL level, EPL Flop - Martin, Lampard.
Players who get jobs on their playing ability rather than managerial ability - Gerrard, Rooney.
Elite level - Rose, Mourinho, Benitez.
Old school - Dyche.
Highly rated coaches dominating domestically and punching above their weight in Europe - Knutsen.
Highly rated coaches doing great in other leagues that aren't as strong - Muscat.
Ex-players who have been round the managerial block - Gattuso.
A left field appointment -?
It's a huge decision that if we get right could impact us correctly for the next 5 years.
The alternative doesn't bear thinking about.

I would love Kjetil to get the opportunity but unfortunately his style of management would not work with the setup we are putting in place as he is a traditional "Boss".
We need to be looking towards an elite level progressive coach to work with an Elite level Director of sporting operations.
16 Apr 2025 10:31:54
Liam Rosenior English coach currently at Strasbourg
Left field appointment?
16 Apr 2025 11:02:00
Do you think Scotland ( and not Rangers themselves ) is an attractive proposition for an elite level coach, Asa?
Or would the lure of Europe, potential winning titles etc be enough?
16 Apr 2025 11:13:15
I'd be happy to change the setup if it meant getting Knutsen.
16 Apr 2025 11:17:51
Progressive coaches who can operate within our structure, have experience of developing youth and will have a potential sell on value.
16 Apr 2025 11:39:27
We need a manager who is competent in the following.
A- Scottish football
B- The type of player required
C- tactics and how to change it.
D- Not afraid to make big decisions
E- Will call out players
F- Gets our Club
Sounds like we need keep Fergie and co.
16 Apr 2025 11:59:25
I am happy for the club to make the decision, but can see it needs to be a coach who can work within our structure and with an ability to work with a DOSO above him. that automatically rules out a good few within the categories listed.
16 Apr 2025 12:00:16
Yes MPH i believe that we could persuade an elite level coach to join our project.
16 Apr 2025 12:10:53
I don't think an established elite coach will come to Scotland. I think the only chance of getting a ' star' is by doing what we try to do with players. Get early and sell when they flourish. A candidate like that. Or too much at stake to risk it? Perhaps our Moroccan assistant is the answer. Too soon? Excited to see how it pans out.
16 Apr 2025 10:23:07
It's not just the correct manager we require, it's the correct recruitment as well. Let's hope Koppen improves as well because most of his signings haven't been that great if we are being honest.
16 Apr 2025 12:24:51
Herewego56, what was your last user name?
16 Apr 2025 13:05:07
Listen if Barry beats Celtic and qualifies for the semi finals he's going to be the next manager whether people like it or. Not.
16 Apr 2025 13:29:09
Mph I'm not sure we can lure an elite manager, many seem to think we can, which i hope is true, but personally just can't see it. I understand we will have excellent people in charge, but the spl is still the spl no matter what, that's my worry.
16 Apr 2025 13:33:56
Mph ment to add that your bang on about how important this appointment is. We have continuously got it wrong time and again in managers, if we get this one wrong there's a lot of suffering ahead, can't even begin to stress how important it is. I do have faith in these guys though.
16 Apr 2025 13:36:08
Stars spidey senses tingling??
16 Apr 2025 13:37:49
Recruitment just as Important as manager. The Recruitment of players in past 3 seasons has been dire.
16 Apr 2025 13:44:14
That's my thoughts, BoyBlue.
We ( and Celtic ) are huge institutions around the world.
But that isn't enough anymore.
Most managers see the EPL as the Holy Grail.
Teams like Bournemouth have crowds of 12,000 but with the money on offer can spend wisely and be challenging for Europe.
Others see the English Championship as a step to the EPL.
Teams like Sunderland averaging 40,000.
I would love Knutsen.
16 Apr 2025 14:10:40
I know a lot of you will think i'm mad but i'd take chris wilder if interested
If you look at his profile he's got a great track record of improving teams and works well on budget.
16 Apr 2025 14:10:50
You forgot to mention we all ready have an elite coach in Scotland. Brendan Rodgers! ?.
16 Apr 2025 14:21:10
Correct mph. We are but a stepping stone for progressive managers, felite managers don't need a stepping stone they have there choice of clubs. Has there ever been an elite manager in s scotland? Stasts like that are there to be broken, hopefully we are both wrong.
16 Apr 2025 14:24:03
Fork, not much gets past our my star when it comes to Coldo.
16 Apr 2025 14:27:38
MPH
Don't care, just as long as proven to get dawned title back and excel in Europe.
16 Apr 2025 14:48:04
I think that should be a prerequisite for any Rangers manager, MBW. ?.
16 Apr 2025 14:51:38
How many Jobs has domenico been sacked from ?
What about Seb Hoeneb the stuttgart manager?
Was farioli mentioned before clement that he might have had interest coming over can't remember now if it was him or someone else I'm thinking about?
Oh was it Marcelo gellardo I'm thinking about that was possibly interviewed before?
Kieran McKenna anyone?
Is actually take Terzic or Potter? Marco Rose. Knutson
Could we steal a coach possibly from the smaller clubs in EPL like Fulham's coach silva?
Think it all depends on what we can offer them the squad they will have to work with and what wage we offer too?
a good summer clear out along with a good summer recruitment one of the above managers could guide us to victory and then have champs league football one or 2 might not have the chance of with current teams their with depends what the 49ers and co will offer and promise I suppose to get in the right man?
16 Apr 2025 14:53:41
Mr Mojo no wonder your winking mate, elite manager my arse.
16 Apr 2025 15:51:30
Stig I said McKenna was my first pick but then found out he's on £6m a season.
16 Apr 2025 16:23:05
Koppen has to shoulder a lot of the blame. Most of his signings have not really worked.
16 Apr 2025 16:23:43
Yip mojo he's in a league of his own when it comes to getting pumped all over Europe, not many managers can touch him for those efforts ???.
16 Apr 2025 16:44:57
Knutsen has a proven track record of working on a tight budget, while playing attractive football.
If needs be, let's move on Koppen to accommodate knutsen's management style.
16 Apr 2025 18:05:27
I would like us to go for muscat, he must have a clause for a European club to get him, say sorry for previous mistake in not getting him, it was the old regime, he knows the club, and wouldn't put up with lack of trying and would be a good pick for me to start the revolution.
Viva la Rangers.
16 Apr 2025 18:39:33
I agree shota ?I would love either kevin muscat or kjetil knutsen to become our next permanent Rangers manager but like Asa says, our system and model undertaking our club is pressing ahead with suggests it won't be knutsen or probably muscat ☹️.
16 Apr 2025 19:51:42
Bo Henriksen manager at Mainz seems to be doing a decent job, and linked with the vacant post at RB Leipzig.
In no way are we linked with him, but Asa is he the type of manager who fits our profile?
17 Apr 2025 03:55:33
Who do you fancy then sws? Who's your top 2?
