OneWalter, not a case of realising anything about our finances - our board and manager will do what is best for the club as they have for the last few years.
CL qualification is imperative and if spending £7m of Paterson’s money makes our chances of qualification and decent CL performances more likely they will find the money.
Do I believe that we will spend £7.5m on Olson? I have no idea so don’t see the point in speculating one way or other.

As far as I am aware nothing has changed. Folks in Denmark still saying that Bologna want €7.5m, Copenhagen are supposed to be interest but no contact yet made by either them or us. Olsen has been playing at Fullback and the Italians are rumoured to be looking at possible transfers for defenders. I don't believe that rangers have made an offer but that doesn't mean that an offer won't be made before the end of January.

It's all ifs and buts. We could have won it in extra time but then again they could have scored a couple in the first 30 mins - gutted but they were the better team. Even though there is the cup to come just be glad when season is over. As it's been said major rebuild ahead looks like. They can bleat about having a pot of gold on CL next season but they have to win games to get it - will they be good enough? I think once the pre-group games can be handled - hopefully - we can made this experience work in our favour. All depends on the season critical 1st transfer window - Gio won't stick around for journeymen or squad additions, he's a winner and so are we. Board needs to grow some and back the manager - can't be totally risk averse anymore. We need to be better not match whatever they come up with. ???.

OneWalter I fully agree but I have grave doubts that the quality that is needed will be signed with Parks as our Chairman and Wilson as our DoF. Personally I would build a team round Bassey, Lundstram, Aribo and Morelos. We have a couple of good young players that could be elevated to the first team and others that could certainly be part of the squad.
We do however need to bite the bullet and not renew contracts for Davis and others where we need to be signing quality replacements and we need to aim our sights higher than Wright.
There really does need to be a clear out of a number of players that are just not good enough.

I think there are a few prima donnas getting paid way too much for doing nothing but celebrating past triumphs and feel their job is done. Ryan kent is an example of a player who has lost interest and wants to move closwr to his chicky Burdie . the list is endless and has been in full view all season. Ross County was an example.

Some players want to play down South and can’t be bothered. This is not Gios fault. I would now however feck them and drop them.

Personally i think its a combination of a number of problems. firstly gio is attempting to play a different style to sg. The problem with this is the type of players he has are not the type to be able to play his style. under sg he realised that both full backs lack defensive qualities so he went with a style that suited them.2 cdms to protect against counter attack, but also to protect some weaknesses in goldsons game. further up field it gave aribo more space to play in and our wide forwards were supported by our high full backs, leaving mainly morelos to cover less ground but be a nuisance. worked well most of the time. However players get stale and fresh competition is needed each season. this hasn't happened. squad players have been bought rather than players that will push for starting slot. so we have showed signs of players just turning up. kent and morelos being the main 2 in my opinion. The other lads that people on here have been critical off, are struggling with the different shape and tactics and are struggling to adjust. playing 1 cdm is highlighting flaws in the type of full back we have and also goldsons flaws. aribo is being crowded out and playing deeper. our wide forwards are also playing deeper and wider than when with sg. so full backs struggling to get out even if they could. which leaves whoever is playing as striker as a very lonely figure. Gio may or may not be the right man for the job but we have to be positive and believe. unfortunately i believe the mistake which has been made is that gio has instantly tried to deploy his style. had a short impact after sg left, which happens a lot with a new manager coming in, but the performances have shown that as we are being picked off with both the low block and the high press, the players are struggling with the style and we are seeing poor team and individual performances as players we have don't have the ability to adapt. sorry this is a long message as i am a new poster and needed to vent! . Going to the celtic game. i am a believer with horses for courses. that's what sg struggled with, not having plan b or c. that's how he is a 2-3 season gaffer. Playing celtic, at parkhead with their new team amd style and our form bang average, the tactics were wrong. I think everyone on here would settled for, at worst a point. sit in fill the spaces, pick your moments. if i am honest i don't know what gios tactics were. but celtic took foot of gas in second half, they reverted from the press to give us the ball, fill the gaps and restrict chances as much as possible, then if it came to it they would hit on break without over committing. jack tried to inject intensity into game and i admit he made a difference, but at 3 zip down, celtics mission was just to not concede, period. we took too long with ball possession beforw final third to make any impact on hart. Jack shot from distance and goldson header from set piece. in my opinion gio needs to revert to style of sg for remainder of season, players will be more comfortable with that. then whatever happens in summer he can get the players who can play his style.

These games are like swings and roundabouts, pretty sure that won't happen again, surely! Think mr Ramsay now has an idea how poor we are just now in midfield, it only settled when Jack came in. Brona is a worry, not been on form for a while, that £2M offer rumour should have been taken. The new players need to bedded in but we are lacking fresh grit in the team - Gio needs to earn his reputation now and fix this apathy that seems to seal from the team sucking the confidence out of players who are better!
