The "Big ticket" quality signings could happen in this transfer window when the bigger league teams begin to do their business.
I believe 100% our Club needs a midfield GENERAL (over every other position), someone who will boss, strengthen and glue our Team together. We have not had one such General type player in my opinion since Barry Ferguson.
The player I believe that will come in, and there is definitely mixed opinions on whether it will happen is Lewis Ferguson.
I believe both Clubs have spoken and Rangers know what it will take. We cannot at this stage spend the type of cash required on one player, purely based on FFP. However, should Raskin be sold, he will definitely need replacing and the deal will be done without breaching FFP rules and we will eventually have a much needed position filled and a Captain for many years to come.
Lewis is not his Uncle or as skilled as Gazza but he is the General that we badly need and I believe we will get.

BillyHrfc, no, I don't expect us to spend 20m on 1 replacement but it would cost 15+ for Ferguson, which is an absolute joke, imo. If we get 20m for Raskin we can bring in 2 good quality midfielders, 1 that brings creativity and 1 that can play deep and get on the ball.

I've noticed that, John. I really don't see what he offers yet. So far he's appeared slow, unfit, lightweight, and he's not that good on the ball to make up for the things he lacks. I hope he can turn it round, but can't see him being effective in big games.

How can anyone say that Neil doesn't want to receive a pass? Go back and watch the Jablonec game and watch how many times he points where he wants to receive the pass and the 3 hours it takes our defence to actually pass.
Lad has shown he has some passing ability, but think I'd rather he get moved further forward instead of the 6, as that role is a poison chalice for anyone because of our defence.

John, when a player is pointing, it's to tell them where he wants the ball, and I saw him do this many times in that game, but the issue is our defence and the speed at which they play.
If we pick that tempo up, I think we would see better from anyone in the 6 role, as honestly anyone will struggle to do that job just now.

So we sell Raskin, make a profit, then completely wipe away that on someone we will not make money on, someone who doesn't provide assists or goals, just cause he supports Rangers & "gets it".
The money that it takes to get Ferguson could get you the Serie B winger that we & Celtic were after, if we are spending that kind of money, then I'd want it spent on someone who scored & assists, not a midfielder who plays the simplest, easiest & safest passes.

Not because he's been one of the best CMs over the course of the time he's been in said league? That wouldn't be beneficial to us? We need a 6, and Lewis showed at the World Cup for Scotland he can excel there.
For what it's worth, I don't think we will sign him, but he's a top player and we would be lucky to have him. Stop trying to diminish him as a player, he's more than just a fan and someone who gets it.

Wishy, if he's one of the best in the league, then why is he still at Bologna then? Why is Rangers the only one who's linked with him? If he wasn't a Rangers fan or named Ferguson, would he ever get linked with us or fans thinking he's brilliant. He doesn't play as a 6 for Bologna, but yet he'll be a 6 for us & in case you didn't realise, Scotland were terrible at the World Cup, he played the simplest passes & safest passes.
I'll repeat what I said, if we are spending £17 million on a player, I'd want it spent on someone who assists or scores goals, which he doesn't do, & preferably someone we can sell on for a profit or as little a loss as possible.

Bbj, I completely agree. Without Neil, that game on Thursday finishes 0-0. He constantly tries to dictate, and moves to show for the ball, then, when he's closed because defence has delayed, he moves into a new position, which leads to fans jumping on his back rather than the defence.
Neil, for me, could be a good player, and needs more time on the park to build chemistry and understanding.
I'd be wrapping Raskin in cotton wool, and keeping the midfield the same for a few games.
If we shift Barron, Cameron and Raskin, we'll need another body in their ass. We'd have Chuk (who's improved in the 3), Neil, Devlin, Drago. Maybe Aasgaard, but don't like him in central midfield.

DJB, he literally won the award for the best CM in the Serie A the season before last. That's a fact. Whether you agree or not, he's rated as one of the best CMs in the league.
He's worth 17m.
I agree it's too much for us, as we need to spend that more wisely. But my point is about the fact you're belittling him as a player who only gets it and is a Rangers fan when he's clearly a very good midfielder.
