I believe he used to play for Shakhtar in Ukraine coops. He is a decent sized lad at 6'3 or 6'4, I think.
Not a prolific scorer either, but is still pretty young.

We have plenty of non prolific strikers. Why do we need another? However, we don't play the type of football that gives strikers the opportunity to become prolific, so are we overthinking who we actually need to play up front.

He has 9 goals in 17 MLS games, what is everyone genuinely expecting? 17 in 17, those sort of stats are out of our price bracket. The boy's a good player. Strong, tall, good header of the ball. Good touch. Similar pace wise to Chermiti. Good finisher and gets into good areas and scores the unnattractive tap in goals.
What more do people genuinely want us to go and buy? There seems to be complaints about every signing regardless of who they are. People need to start getting behind the new players instead of constantly moaning about every signing.

A strike rate of a goal every other game is a good rate. I don't know if people realise that scoring records like Haaland, Kane, etc. are out of our price range.

That's correct, we don't create a lot of chances up front. This is why playing Shankland or Miovski up top in a tough game is a bad idea - They just stand around. They're like a man down off the ball, and everyone else needs to do the hard work for them on the ball. Kris Boyd made a career out of this, but he never played against Celtic, in Europe, or for Scotland (I know there's the odd exception, but you get the point).
Kenny Miller played ahead of him because he could run.
The same basic principle applies to this day. We need willing runners up top. That's Chermiti, and Naderi. They always have the potential to create something from nothing as Chermiti did at Parkhead. Even when they don't score, their movement is creating space for others, it's pressing the opposition. They still contribute.

Kelsey is a great finisher and technically good.

Jesus Christ, lads, give it a rest! Nowhere did I say he wasn't someone worth looking at, just that his scoring throughout his career has been pretty poor. Yes, his current season has been okay with 9 in 17, nobody can say otherwise, but he has plenty of game time at Shakhtar and his stint at Cincinatti where his record was poor.
Also hasn't scored in internationals yet either. 6 apps.
I think his physicality will suit our league, but it's a big risk when we needed someone with a record of scoring.

And how much do you think a prolific 22year old international striker would cost us, and would they even consider Rangers? I'm sure most of the bigger clubs would be circling. Same was said about Chermiti. How dare we spend that much on an unknown youngster with little goal contributions, yet a year later we're getting offered more than double what we paid for him and still knocked it back.
This, unfortunately, is the way we deal now as a club: we shop in cheaper markets than the elite clubs.

Players outside of Scotland with a good goal scoring record consistently across multiple seasons are out with our price range. Unless we sign from a nation that is not considered to be of a decent standard, we cannot afford these players. And if we did sign from a nation of poor quality, people would just moan about that. I'm not having a go at you specifically, I am just stating that our support, especially in recent years, always have something to moan about when we sign a player. We signed dressers, who, yes, although not the best all round player, scored 50 goals over the course of 2 seasons.
And yet his treatment was disgusting from sections of our support. My point is we could sign Haaland tomorrow and someone would still moan about something. We need to lay off the new players and start backing them. Ibrox has become a place recently that is so toxic at times it's almost impossible to win. Obviously, performances need to come on the park for the support to get behind, however, some players are written off before they have even kicked a ball.

Great post Bear. BbJ, we got Shanks that has a scoring record, mate, and also it's not easy to get guys like that with the amount we are willing to pay. What you want we simply can't afford.

Bear, I actually didn't read your post there. That's the nature of football fans at any club these days. I'm not shy about admitting I hated Dessers when we first signed him. I even referred to him as donkey, but his work ethic and just ability to keep plugging on when he missed chances grew on me, and I wouldn't have sold him when we did.
The issue for us stems from a lack of success, and what is generally perceived as poor recruitment from us.
