So, thoughts this morning.
Clarke gone. We did well getting to euros / world cup but the performance was just excruciating and embarrassed a nation. How this four manager could ever motivate a player is questionable.
The new manager has a job on his hands and it should be goodbye to some players. Hanley Dykes Robertson Henry Adams as a start. We need a refresh which will take time and don't expect to qualify for a while.
2. Good to see Rice to Kilmarnock. Will make or break him.
3. Godfrey: great potential. I hope he's a success as he got the requirements.
4. Expect 2/3 in this week and it's going to be hard keeping Fernandes.

Agree with the vast majority of this but Andy Robertson is still good enough to play at the top level.
28 Jun 2026 13:49:43
Managed to motivate squads to get to 3 tournaments which is more than other managers have managed to do since 1998 (WC) and 2006 (Euros). Let's hoe the next one manages to do the same since it is now so easy to qualify. ?
28 Jun 2026 13:56:59
Andy Robertson can still play. Get Alex Neil in. Moyes won't leave Everton, and I like Ange, but we don't have the defenders for his style.
28 Jun 2026 13:57:58
Agree, Angus, not saying it was pretty but abject failure previously, the guy deserves a wee bit of a break. Brought in to qualify and did it 3 times.

The only positive you can say about Clarke and this squad of players is that they got us to 3 tournaments. Better managers and squads have failed in the past, but this one was set up for us to qualify, more teams, 3rd best teams qualify etc, and we blew it with our negative approach.
It was time for change.

Sorry, guys, not going to be a popular one, but maybe Neil Lennon would be a good shout here.
Personally, if his health is good, then big McCliesh.
28 Jun 2026 14:16:09
I think the way we qualified for the 2 Euros allows for debate on how successful he's been compared to others.
However, the WC qualification campaign was awesome.
28 Jun 2026 14:18:27
McLeish is retired, Stevie. Lennon would probably be a divisive appointment. Don't think he would be the worse.
28 Jun 2026 14:19:33
Yes, let's just celebrate getting to tournaments and playing crap, yeah, that's great that some fans have no ambition the same as that rotten manager.
28 Jun 2026 14:24:45
PaulyDon, I know what you're saying about Ange Postecoglou wouldn't have the defenders available to him to play his style if he got the Scotland manager's job, but I look at that another way. ? He would have Scotland playing good attacking, direct football with the attacking talent the country has, and it would be very entertaining and he would be prepared to lose goals with his all out attacking style, but he'd have Scotland scoring a few and his philosophy would be to score more than the opposition.
?

Clarke is an absolutely horrible man.
I hate the guy. Not used lightly.
He wasn't successful. We shouldn't be celebrating just being there, no. No way.
We shouldn't be celebrating. Have had better results, better performances and better tactics all the way through his tenure.
He's an idiot. Not a good man manager for me, and that's something u need at international level as u don't work with players long enough, so need that bubble to get them on your side.
28 Jun 2026 14:48:12
John McGlynn would be not a bad shout.
28 Jun 2026 15:23:15
John McGlynn would be good, guys. Absolutely him for me then.
I'd maybe like an assistant who can take over from him in 4-6 years though.
Calum Davidson maybe?
28 Jun 2026 15:30:10
Agree, Stevie, if so called lesser team like Cape Verde, DR Congo and Ecuador can come and qualify and play attacking and exciting football and have multiple efforts on goal, why can't Scotland do this? His tactics were deplorable and the team performed the worst out of all of them. No wonder the English are laughing at us.
28 Jun 2026 15:58:48
Some fans are still thinking it's 1978 and we're going to win the World Cup.
28 Jun 2026 17:48:19
The way Clark totally overlooked Oli McBurnie was nothing more than childish, and to not give the boy Ross Stewart more time, his its my ball my rules will stop him getting any others big job. Good riddance, he's away. Like the poster before, go for Neil Lennon, hell no, take any rubbish.
28 Jun 2026 18:24:55
Sws, I know what you mean, I think we just need to find a style that suits our squad as a whole. I like Ange and he probably would adapt his methods if he were to take the job. Seeing players like Curtis and Doak under Ange would be a sight. Him or Alex Neil for me.
28 Jun 2026 19:08:22
Alex Neil and Billy Reid for me.
