imo, much more positive recruitment getting players in that are proven in our league. The past few seasons we have had players like Aarons, Rothwell, Propper and many more all come and fail to adapt to our unique style.

Neilgd, Rommens is our starting LB when fit. We could do a lot worse than Penrice as someone to push him. Penrice is a good solid player.

What calibre of player do you propose to be a back up left back, Neil? He's just won the Greek title as well. He's a good squad option. The club's recruitment thus far looks very promising. We are signing good pros who will provide the club with a good backbone, and then it leaves us with a lot more money to spend on starters.

Me too, AL. I will adlib what EHL said months ago. These lads fill in the 'seasoned pro who knows the league and will help others and young players adjust and bed in' lower to medium wage bracket, rather than taking overpriced Championship or loan players to fill this void (or not as is more often the case).
That leaves your money for the best talent we can afford to be the match winners.

Tbf that's 2 good solid signings, maybe not starters as Rommens will start, but I've said before I think we need at least 2 RB as Dejon is injured a lot. McCrorie also homegrown, and I'd say a better defender than Tav and has done well in the Championship.

Another fantastic signing.
He's got a delivery like Barasic and is a very good back up option, likely again £2m.
So £4m and lower wages than paying £4m for the 2 and higher wages. And I'll be honest, both are better players.

Rommens can also play in a back 3 if required.
McInnes has often used 3 at the back in games, and this would allow both Rommens and Penrice to play in the same team.
The same flexibility is offered by McCrorie.

Penrice looked good when playing for Hearts. Not seen much since he left, but solid for domestic game and strong back up for Rommens.

Don't understand the Penrice negativity. Many here were wanting him signed. He's moved abroad and become a league champion, and now he's not good enough. Eh!! What, seriously!! Just what level of club do people think Rangers are these days? Lots of small clubs around Europe could outspend us and attract players easier nowadays.

Nearly every time we switched to 3 at the back under Rohl, we lost the game or threw away a lead to end up a draw. With the pace of some of the attacks in some teams in our league, 3 at the back would get skinned. 4 is better if the RB and LB can actually defend as well as attack like Rommens.

James Penrice will be a very good signing for us imo. ? He has a wicked left peg and his deliveries are terrific and of a similar quality to Barisic deliveries. ? ??

I hope we get Penrice. Would be a decent signing, he knows the league which is what's been lacking for us for years now.
