I spoke to a family member who is good pals with Windass and I know this isn't a rumour. This is true. I heard last week about it. What I was told, he wants to make him captain also, but I was also told Windass doesn't fancy it because he knows fans don't want it and he has young kids now.
This is not pish, I wish it was.

20 goal contributions in 41 games in the Championship. Why would we not want him? I have wanted Windass back for years. He's a cracking player, imo, and is a great finisher.

I've always been against resigning Windass. But I reckon I've now mellowed with it, scores goals every where he goes, he's also meant to be a model pro when you hear stories by other pros about him. I 10000% do not want him as captain though.

I've listened to plenty of podcasts with Josh Windass, and I think he likes the club but doesn't like the fans. It's easy to understand why he wouldn't want to come back, knowing he will be an easy target for abuse.

Well what i was told is he would love to come back but he isn't stupid, he's seen the response of the fans in January and he's got young kids, he doesn't want them witnessing him getting stick and fair play. As i says, this isn't a lie, this is truth, it will come out.

Big Dado, a wasn't too pleased ma self. My cousin played with him, and he did say he sets standards in training and speaks up when players aren't pulling their weight. Doesn't drink or anything, extremely fit. A think it would be not a bad move signing him, but not making him captain.

Windass was an excellent player for us.
18 goals one season played really well.
Windass likes us, was his dad pelted the fans cause of stick he got.
Windass was loved in the dressing room.
Some of our fans are poison n have an element of hatred toward our own players.
Windass.

Told by entitled keyboard warriors who think they know better telling them they're all not good enough.
Abused on social media.
Booed n pestered by their so called own fans.
All on top of other clubs.
N believe it or not that's why a lot of our players underperform and drop in form.

I actually liked Windass when he was here. He had an eye for goal and backed him up many a times when arguing with. A few mates over him when he was here.
I was gutted when he left.
Have absolutely no idea how he would be now for us.

The way he spoke about a youth player who had been released by Wednesday was disgusting.

What do you mean 'find out what we're doing with Chermiti'? Chermiti is a Rangers player, and a very good one at that. Chermiti only scored one goal less than Shankland last year (and Chermiti doesn't take the penalties).
Chermiti scored 15 goals in his debut season for Rangers. I really think the guy could hit 20 next season.

I don't like going back for players. Anyway, can't we just sign someone new for the fans to hate. It shouldn't be that difficult to do. You know, a player who misplaces a pass, doesn't follow a run.
There are lots of players out there who will manage that; hang on, all of them in fact. Then, once they make a poor reaction after being good and abused, there we go.

This is just my opinion and I agree with dougieboy93. Why would Josh Windass put his family through this abuse from some of our supporters, and that was happening because we were heavily linked with him in January. ? These keyboard warriors have to stop this abuse of Rangers players and also ones we're linked to signing because it's absolutely bang out of order, and will only put players off signing for Rangers. ? We all have our rightful opinions on who we'd want Rangers to sign, but we must get behind any player our manager chooses to sign and not start this abusing players before they've even signed. ? Regarding Josh Windass, I think he's a talented goal scoring attacking midfielder who'd absolutely be a good signing for us.
? Would he improve our squad, absolutely imo no doubt. ? He was naive when he left Rangers and was young when Gerrard wanted to keep him, but he's grown up now and is a talented forward thinking player. ? Everyone makes mistakes and Windass himself has admitted it was a big mistake to leave Rangers for Wigan, and he was stupid for not listening to Steven Gerrard at the time. ? I honestly think half the online guys are Celtic fans pretending to be Rangers fans to abuse players online. It's one thing disliking a player, but to actually go out your way to abuse players is wild, and is far too easy for people to do without consequences.
It's a modern part of the world that really needs fixing. Too many are comfortable mocking disasters and abusing people online. Footballers get nothing but abuse all day every day ?. Our "fan base" seem to be one of the worst for it.

15 years of failure and watching overpaid players has made everyone lose patience and rationality, Muscatin, while I agree it's bad the abuse they get on social media, I understand why people don't shower them with love.
I follow and see a lot of different football fanbases on X, we are no different to most big clubs with big fanbases.
