Rangers allegedly very interested in two Motherwell players, their midfielder elliot watt and their right winger elijah just ?Both imo would be good signings and would improve our squad ?We currently have Skov Olsen as our right winger who hasn't done it up until now and looks very low in confidence and maybe just isn't suited to Scottish football, although he is a very talented player ?But from where i'm standing now Elijah Just would be better value for probably around the £2million mark than forking out £8million on Skov Olsen and of course Just has played well in our league ?

Aye, but what about Barron? ?? Sorry, bud, couldn't help it. ??
18 Mar 2026 17:23:19
Yes to just, don't see Watt getting a game unless we sell a couple midfielders.
18 Mar 2026 17:33:53
Yes to Just, but I would have the same concerns as I have with Maswanhise in terms of whether he can do it against a low block.
No to Watt.
18 Mar 2026 17:46:41
Teams don't play the low block against us like they used to, as there's no fear of our attack. Just is excellent at timing his runs in behind, similar to what Arfield was good at. Don't think Watt is much better than we have currently.

Kaiser, I like Just. I watched him whilst he was in Denmark and was impressed. He does seem to have improved further.
18 Mar 2026 18:16:02
This season he has played mostly AM/10.
15 times.
Right mid 5.
Left mid 5.
Then a few times as left winger and CM.
This is from Transfermarkt, but they also say he is a right winger. ?
18 Mar 2026 18:16:59
Kaiser, it does still happen, the low block more often than not, imo. Teams counter-attack better against us these days.
18 Mar 2026 18:28:20
Strom, there lies the problem for people.
In Scandinavia, just like in Germany and the Netherlands, players are trained to be versatile.
Unfortunately, this usually means they do not fit the traditional positional mould.
18 Mar 2026 18:32:03
Storm, I agree. I take a low block to not just be sitting in, but an organised way of restricting space in their final third to frustrate us, and, as you say, a way to get us forward in numbers, which creates space for them to launch quick counter-attacks.
18 Mar 2026 23:29:29
Maswanhise over Skov all day for me, half the price probably. I've no doubt Skov was a good player, but, on what I'm seeing, he seems to have lost it.
19 Mar 2026 06:35:21
Aphelion, then there shouldn't be a problem expecting Skov to be versatile enough to play as a winger at times when he's played wide right, rather than saying it's not his style.
I wouldn't say it's a Scandinavia/German thing either to train to be versatile.
That's normal, and players from anywhere play more than one fixed position. In fact, I'd say some even suffer from being too adaptable, so they struggle to nail down a fixed position in teams. Kind of a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none problem.

See you Fork. ? You're a good poster, Fork, and know your football, but you also bring your funny, quirky stuff to the site, which lightens the mood at times, and I like that, pal. ?
19 Mar 2026 07:31:21
Maybe it is the Motherwell scout that we should be signing lol.
19 Mar 2026 07:41:46
Why, thanks, Coops. ??
19 Mar 2026 08:11:25
Was speaking to my mate who's a Well fan. He says most teams have played low blocks against Motherwell this season, and he's excelled against it. I had these concerns about them.
19 Mar 2026 08:19:05
Why would we sign them? Our tactics are to Lunt the ball long and cross into the box.
19 Mar 2026 08:48:41
Burt, if those truly are our tactics, then why is everyone on here always moaning about the side to side stuff? Serious question.
19 Mar 2026 09:34:28
Elliot Watt looks like a fantastic player. He is a genuine number 6, which is something we currently don't have at our club. Raskin lacks the positional discipline to do it. I think Watt would be a starter for us and bring much needed shape and structure to this team.
Also, Rangers play vertical football at the moment because this is how Danny gets the most from the squad he has.
There's nothing to suggest that won't change when he gets in his own players, capable of playing the type of football he wants. I don't believe we are currently playing the brand of football he wants to play. We could look totally different next season.

Angus, in our last 3 matches, it looks like we are going long, looking to win 2nd balls. I think Danny Rohl has seen that our midfield isn't doing enough to get us into dangerous areas. 50m spent to be a long ball team.
