I am told that the asking price at the end of the loan is €7 million.

Quoted fees that Wolfsburg paid are not quite as they seem, certain conditions have not been met for add ons to have been paid.

I think we will pay a substantial loan fee likely in the region of £2 million.

Talks intensified over the weekend.

12 Jan 2026 09:26:12
Sounds positive. Hopefully have the same impact that Cerny had.

12 Jan 2026 09:41:41
Great info as always. If we get Olsen in on Loan with an Option/Obligation that would be our 6th and final Loan availability i believe.

Is there any scope to cancel the loan of Corneluis due to his long term injury? Would enable us to do something with Mundle similar to Olsen, or maybe make a statement and buy him i January. i'd probably then look at offers for Gassama tbh.

Get the Rommens deal finalised (which i believe it pretty much is) get Neil (sunderland) and Watson (kilmarnock) agreed on precontracts and pay to get 1 or both in early, preferably Neil. Allows for Rothwell, Dowell and possibly Bajrami to leave and young Cameron out on Loan.

Get young Nsiala out on Loan and look to try and bring in another CB.

Mentioned on here offers on table for Danilo, take the best offer for Rangers, wish him well and get a new striker in.

We won't be far away from having a really good window if everything comes together. Too it off with getting some more fringe players out on loan etc like Matondo (last 6 months of contract so at least only here till summer at most)

Would love to see what Danny can do when gets his own squad together.

12 Jan 2026 09:45:24
I think it sounds reasonable given the player and profile, but might it might be too rich for our blood given the signings already made this season (unless there's a sale? ). We've been stung by obligations to buy before, but if it can be an option then that would be great.

12 Jan 2026 09:56:35
He has done nothing in Italy or Germany is my only concern.

12 Jan 2026 09:57:46
We let cerny slip through our fingers. Could have had him instead of gassam/atman etc. let's hope we can get olsen.

12 Jan 2026 10:03:07
If we, as in the new owners are serious about this title race this is the calibre we should be going after.

12 Jan 2026 10:19:19
Mystar he has ran riot in Belgium and Denmark which is similar levels to our league. Not cutting it in the top 5 leagues doesn't mean won't be good for Scotland mate. Cerny couldn't cut it in Germany and he did well here. Skov olsen is a faster and stronger version of Cerny imo.

12 Jan 2026 10:19:50
MyStar I also have those concerns I think the bigger concerns would be his time at Brugge towards the end he did an interview with danish media talking about how he's quite a loner doesn't really have many friends in football and that he now sees football as just a job and not something he enjoys anymore.

I feel like he's someone that actually has tonnes of talent but doesn't quite have the drive anymore hence why he struggles in the top leagues but can perform in leagues like Belgium.

12 Jan 2026 10:21:03
I think the loan requirement doesn't apply to players under 21 Coisty unless you've taken that into consideration? Or I might be wrong.

12 Jan 2026 10:25:49
There's a twitter transfer account Wolves, Crystal Palace, Spurs and Sunderland are interested in Skov Olsen.

12 Jan 2026 10:31:25
My Star, if he had done anything notable or special in Italy or Germany do you really think we'd be discussing rumours of him coming to us? The answer to that is no btw.

12 Jan 2026 10:33:36
Trubes i honestly don't know when it comes to U21s all i found was from 24/25 season onwards max amount of loans a team can have is 6.

12 Jan 2026 10:36:50
Wishy but Cerny had done it at every club he played for expect in Germany mate, he's failed at two clubs out of four, he'll also never played for a club with the pressure at Rangers, I'd love him signing though, hopefully success at three from five.

12 Jan 2026 10:41:46
Many players have struggled in those leagues.

I seem to remember another Danish winger who struggled in Italy before becoming a star at Rangers.

CALB as you are aware many people take mental health struggles differently.
He is now in a different headspace entirely and wants to play consistently to enjoy football and return to the Denmark starting 11.

12 Jan 2026 10:41:58
My star he was like 21 in serie A and bologna weren't what they are now.

In the Bundesliga he's playing for a team towards the bottom of the table so don't think that's a good comparison.

In the Belgian league for a team competing at the top which is much more comparable to us he was scoring like a goal every 2/3 games on average, whilst assisting goals as well.

12 Jan 2026 10:45:28
Got to remember the difference playing for a top side like Brugge in Belgium is way different to going to middle of the road Wolfsburg and Bologna…the teams set up in certain ways and it might not suit a winger like him.

12 Jan 2026 11:13:12
Coully fantastic posts.

My star your benchmark is Cerny fair enough.
Cerny was woefully impotent in a Wolfsburg team that was not as strong in those positions as they are now.

I would not say Skov Olsen has failed just because he has someone who is first choice in front of him.

He wants to play and is not getting game time due to christian Ericson and Patrick wimmer.
No disgrace there.

They don't set up in a way that would get the best out of him.

I just don't understand the logic behind being concerned about a top quality international but would like us to sign the likes of Claudio Braga, Elliot Watt, Elijah Just and other players who have not had anywhere near the ability or career.

12 Jan 2026 11:17:21
I take your point mate but I would say Brugge would be high pressure they get rid of loads of managers if they aren't cutting it. Which tells me there is a big expectation there.

12 Jan 2026 11:21:22
Aphelion for sure he did seem like he was struggling towards the end of his Brugge career mentally and Its a bigger show of character if he has gotten himself out of that because it certainly isn't easy.

12 Jan 2026 11:31:22
Paul, Cerny was far too expensive a deal for a player with very little to no resale value at the end of his contract. He knew he could double monthly or more what we would pay. The deal to sign him was unaffordable. He slipped nowhere. It was never a starter long term.

12 Jan 2026 11:47:06
Let's give him a chance, if we get him, before we set him up as a potential superstar, or a potential let down.
His CV outwith serie A or Bundesliga makes positive reading. I think he could be a real asset (there I go raising expectations. ).

12 Jan 2026 12:02:07
We don't play in Italy or Germany so we should be OK. ?

He was quite young. Skov would be just as good as Cerny. Maybe better as he looks more direct and perhaps quicker. (? )

12 Jan 2026 12:04:30
Is there anyway we could send Djiga back to wolves and free up another spot.

12 Jan 2026 12:06:39
Still seeing rumours we looking at bowie honestly a don't think he worth anything over £2million ad like the 2 wee are looking at from sunderland in on pre contracts if possible watched mundle on saturday honestly ad say a step up on Gassama faster n more direct would like to see Moore stay another season get rid Aarons Rothwell Matondo Djiga Dowell Danilo possibly Aasgaard no really upto it for us and try and actually sign players no loans please Rangers honestly think we can do 56 this year if not definitely next year as Rohl has brought the belief back to this team c'mon the Rangers 56 n scottish cup be a good finiah to a very poor 3 month start ??????????????.

12 Jan 2026 12:13:38
Not for me those figures, approx £9M for a 27 year old. Appreciate that's the market value but don't think we need to be shopping in Bundesliga or EPL for that matter.

12 Jan 2026 12:16:43
Aphelion if you think he'd get more goal contributions than Cerny in a Rangers jersey that would do me, I'm only saying i would doubt that, but i would love that happening, if we're interested and do sign him.

12 Jan 2026 12:17:59
Wishy they wouldn't get booed for a draw mate.

12 Jan 2026 12:27:13
Fair enough mate but who do we sign players from then if they have had to play under the pressure that we put on players, I could only name a handful that are as extreme as us. Madrid etc?.

12 Jan 2026 12:27:55
I'm
In the minority I'd have rather cerny, I worry about his failures at last 2 clubs too.

Hopefully I'm wrong.

12 Jan 2026 12:35:17
Aphelion, you're on fire mate - loving your updates.

As for concerns re failure in some leagues, he will have learned from it. Sometimes in all walks of life you have to 'learn' how to overcome defeats and hard times to improve your performance and grow as a person.

Equally he has had success too.

If he were a player that had smashed it everywhere then he would be a £50m+ player and we wouldn't be even thinking it were possible.

The question is will he improve the starting 11, imo yes.

Great rumours over the last few days on the site which is great.

12 Jan 2026 12:51:12
If its true he's lost his mojo for the game then it's a naw.
Last thing we need is a moody blue.
Would rather spend the proposed 7m on a couple of do'ers in our own league.

The boy at Motherwell would be one.
Like Bowie at Hibs tae but the prices being mentioned?
Like others 2.5 - 3m wd be fair enough but the hibees hold all the cards there.

12 Jan 2026 12:52:17
Wishy I don't know mate lol.

12 Jan 2026 13:25:27
I appreciate the apprehension with regards Olson but as Aphelion has mentioned Laudrup didn't succeed in Serie A and neither did Gazza. Both were stars here because they enjoyed falling in love with football again.
Both have spoken about the togetherness and bond the team had in these days and looking at our recent team in the past weeks that seems to be growing massively.

They look like they're enjoying themselves so hopefully a good start if we do eventually sign him.

12 Jan 2026 13:54:09
Bathgate he has 50% success rate, if true he sees football as employment that wouldn't work for me, but again if Rangers are interested and do sign him I hope he becomes a star player for us, but I believe my questions are worth getting highlighted, and what salary is he on?

12 Jan 2026 13:55:42
Gazza did succeed. Outwith his injury he was a success.

12 Jan 2026 13:56:20
Bathgate thank you for your good sense.

Andreas Skov Olsen easily becomes the best player in the SPFL if he signs without doubt.

12 Jan 2026 14:13:16
Yes the player would be top notch, sometimes there are things at clubs that just don't suit a player or even those close to them, we have a couple or 3 right now who prob don't like it here. Olsen would be a huge signing.

12 Jan 2026 14:13:31
Mind that is only your opinion Aphelion, I have never seen him that much for having that opinion on him.

12 Jan 2026 14:14:57
Bathgate bear I've seen it last few games, the togetherness of the group is shining through when you hear them in interviews, however on the park there (at last) looking like a team who are together rather than shouting at one another and nonsense like that great to see, let's hope the rest of this window is the most productive in years and bring us the success we all are craving, namaste my fellow bears.

12 Jan 2026 14:17:31
Had a look at his salary, anything between 75/90k per week, he'd need to be a star player for Rangers on that wage.

12 Jan 2026 14:46:23
Skov Olsen would be an outrageous signing, I would walk over broken glass to sign him, game changer that could win us the league. from here on in I'm more convinced than ever we're going to win the league next season, might even still win it this year.

12 Jan 2026 14:55:42
Would send Djiga back anyway waste of a Jersey isn't coping in our league
Bombscare at times
N. his loanspace could be used for someone more valuable to the team ?.

12 Jan 2026 15:12:20
Gibby - From watching at the weekend alone, thought Mundle flattered to deceive on the outside and continually cut in and passed back. Saw nothing to suggest he would be more effective than Gassama.

I agree with Aphelion - Skov Olsen could be an excellent signing. A real statement of intent from the new owners.

12 Jan 2026 15:19:00
re the new Fifa regulations on loans:

"Exemption from Caps: Players who are both aged 21 or under and are club-trained do not count towards the total number of international loans a club can make in a season.

Definition of Club-Trained: A club-trained player is generally defined as one who has been registered with their current club for a minimum of three full seasons (or 36 months) between the ages of 15 and 21.

Loan Limits (for non-exempt players) : For professional players who do not meet both exemption criteria (e. g., a 22-year-old club-trained player or a 20-year-old foreign player who has only been with the club for two years), clubs are limited to a maximum of six international players loaned out and six loaned in at any given time from the 2024-25 season onwards."

12 Jan 2026 12:30:17
⁸Think this is a no brainer tbh. most sources reporting straight loan, just hope there is a purchase option wether obligatory or not.
Olsen would improve our attack 10 fold and coming in to his peak years would be great signing and show real intent!

12 Jan 2026 12:34:13
Stevie he has not failed at last 2 clubs.

He is merely not first choice at his most recent club.

12 Jan 2026 16:17:27
This wage is a worry for me, we shouldn't be paying that salary in Scotland.

12 Jan 2026 16:21:45
It's not the only worry either, but again not watched him much, probably under ten games, can remember watching him a few times and liking what I seen, then watched him do nothing against Scotland, so others that watched him more will have a better opinion on him, his wage it a tad much I'm thinking.

12 Jan 2026 16:45:15
I don't know why but i'm getting the sense that your not keen My Star everytime someone says something positive you comeback with a negative.

12 Jan 2026 17:07:40
Wullie if he signs i will be happy but wages need thought about wouldn't you think?

12 Jan 2026 17:24:02
I think loan woth is holding the option is the best way forward. Don't jump in head first here and don't leave ourselves short of he does well and lose him.

Make the deal suit us if he does well.

12 Jan 2026 17:44:43
I'm sure if Rangers are talking to the player/agent then they are fully aware of salary and costs…
For me if we have a loan with 'option' as opposed to obligation then I am
All for it. With WC coming up and Denmark in the mix I'd think Olsen would be more than motivated for 6months…
At the end of the day if he helps us win the league, plays well, falls into our salary and price bracket then happy to have him.

12 Jan 2026 18:40:44
Macnaughten we win the league with him playing well that suits me.

12 Jan 2026 22:57:12
There is no comparison between Brian Laudrup and Skov Olsen, not even close in any way, The Italian League Laudrup played in was levels above the one Olsen played in, It was the top League in the world during Laudrups time, and he played against some of the best players and defenders in football history, and made an absolute fool out of them with his ball control and trickery, Laudrup won Serie A and The Champions League with AC Milan

Laudrup was a success in many of top league's in the world during his footballing years and is a legend in Denmark for obvious reasons and was considered one of the top payers in the world during his peak (check YT for highlight reels to see again just how phenomenal a player he was, literally unstoppable)

Olsen had scored a lot of goals early in his career in Denmark with his best ever season in the under 19's at FC nordsjaelland, followed by his 1st team breakthrough season where he was also succesful prior to his failed serie A move with Bologna, and then his most succesful period regards honours at Club Brugge in a very good team, better than the one that slaughtered us recently.

Achievement comparisons

Skov Olsen

2x Belgian champion - Club Brugge.
1x Belgian cup winner - Club Brugge.
1x Belgian super cup winner - Club Brugge.

Laudrup

3 x Footballer of the year - Rangers, Rangers, Brondby.
1 x European Champion - Denmark.
1 x Champions League winner - AC Milan.
1 x Serie A winner - AC Milan.
1 x UEFA Super Cup Winner - Chelsea.
1 x German Super Cup Winner - Bayern Munich.
3 x Scottish Champion - Rangers.
1 x Scottish Cup Winner - Rangers.
1 x Scottish League Cup Winner - Rangers.
2 x Danish Champion - Brondby.
1 x Confederations Cup Winner - Denmark.
1 x Intertoto Cup Winner - Brondby.

Is Skov Olsen a good player - YES
Is he anywhere near Laudrups level - NO
has he played at top level clubs like Laudrup - NO
has had any major achievments with Denmark, NO
has achieved anything of note in any of footballs top leagues - NO.

Comparison - there is none, Laudrup was World Class and considered one of the worlds top players during his era.
Olsen is decent but nowhere near World class and never will be.
