I was told at the training centre today that tomorrow's match is now 80% likely to be postponed.
Aberdeen were due to travel down today but have had to cancel. Rearranged to travel tomorrow but snow is looking unlikely to shift.
Contingencies now place for a postponement.
05 Jan 2026 12:47:23
Wouldnt surprise me if game was called off, weather not great up north.
05 Jan 2026 12:50:07
Borna snow has been falling all morning now and is forecast until mid afternoon. up to about knee height just walking on pavements in my street and roads are now not great due to lack of traffic mainly. most flights at airport cancelled and most trains as well I think so not surprising news.
05 Jan 2026 12:57:10
Not to be as bad tomorrow going by forecast I've seen down here, although a postponement not end of world a think we will win game tomorrow and hopefully gets played.
05 Jan 2026 12:58:25
Should be telling us all right now then?
05 Jan 2026 12:59:44
No mention of possible postponement or concerns from Danny Rohl in his interview with sky.
05 Jan 2026 13:06:05
Aberdeen is having a serious amount of snow right now but surely they can travel down. Glasgow doesn't have snow just yet obviously so match wouldn't be in danger of being called off here.
Going there on Saturday I'd understand that being off full ground will be covered.
05 Jan 2026 13:18:55
And yet they made it down to Falkirk and back home again on Saturday. Forfeit the game and 3 points to Rangers, thank you and move on, hahaha.
05 Jan 2026 13:44:01
Alex fans need took into consideration mate.
05 Jan 2026 14:00:58
I live near Aberdeen. In-laws came back up the road from GLA airport last night, no issues at all. Only bad North of Aberdeen.
Shouldn't be an issue for their 12 fans getting down.
05 Jan 2026 14:30:07
No now amo. Look at my recent post on sightings. Porthlethan area is really bad. As is kingwells area of aberdeen.
05 Jan 2026 14:44:02
Apparently they are now en route to Glasgow.
Their bus driver in some forum posted it.
05 Jan 2026 14:50:58
Aye my brothers just South of Aberdeen, he's saying it's getting worse as well. Won't be shifting much overnight either.
05 Jan 2026 15:14:22
Can they not fly if the roads are so bad.
05 Jan 2026 16:13:36
They could get the train or fly. No excuse whatsoever sorry.
05 Jan 2026 16:30:16
I drive south from Aberdeen on the 3 rd. Horrendous. Bmw not good in snow. Got out and it's gotten worse.
05 Jan 2026 16:47:48
Looking at traffic cameras just now and all showing the roads are clear, if they are travelling tonight then shouldn't have a problem.
05 Jan 2026 17:12:46
Stevie all flights are cancelled, as are trains so no they can't fly or take the train.
I just cleared over a foot of snow off the log sheds in back garden with snow up to near top of my wellies. it is bad up here.
I reckon main roads will be priority and will be cleared so if snow stays off I am sure they will travel. issue now is dropping temperatures which cause the snow melt on the roads to freeze.
05 Jan 2026 17:28:10
If they can't fly or get train mate then I'd accept it that's fine.
The fact fans can't make it should t be enough to call off the match simply play without away fans.
If the team can't make it then fair enough.
Makes u wonder how all the Nordic country's manage though.
We have winter every year so it shouldn't cause the chaos it causes.
Infrastructure in this country is pathetic.
05 Jan 2026 17:40:04
With the game being on Sky TV they will do absolutely everything to try and ensure it goes ahead. As long as the Aberdeen team make it down, I'd be surprised if they cancelled it for a few hundred Aberdeen supporters not being able to get down.
05 Jan 2026 17:50:16
Just passing on that the club is taking very seriously the contingency that this might get postponed.
05 Jan 2026 18:02:39
Stevie there is a Very good reason that we have a summer league alongside Sweden, Finland, Iceland and Denmark has a substantial winter shutdown.
05 Jan 2026 18:03:16
If Aberdeen can't play tomorrow we should get the points as why did they head back to Aberdeen when they were in Falkirk at the weekend and they new it has been snowing since.
05 Jan 2026 18:17:03
Their fans have averted danger by hiring a smart car to make it to the game safely!
05 Jan 2026 20:15:12
Aphe I'm not meaning football wise mate I'm meaning the infrastructure we have to cope with the weather is next to zero.
What makes it difficult for us is the hot summers and the really bad winters, this winter wasn't bad atall so far but notmally that's what causes all the roads to crack and potholes the size of craters appear.
I'd imagine there is something out there that would work instead of what we use to make our roads and repair them but we don't seem to have the people in place to utilise what other countries use.
05 Jan 2026 20:32:47
It's utter nonsense fans thinking we should get the points ?♂️ it's not going to happen and the game will be on tomorrow.
05 Jan 2026 20:34:37
That likely is the issue though Stevie. The UK is a more temperate climate than those of us in the artic regions.
I would also say I actually think the transport infrastructure in the UK in terms of rail transport is far superior than we have here.
It can be very difficult to commute throughout most of Scandinavia during the winter as we have more remote settlements.
05 Jan 2026 21:51:08
We may have the stations and tracks aphe, but we certainly don't keep them in a very good working order. Anyone who uses trains regularly has nothing but complaints and horror stories aboit them mate.
05 Jan 2026 22:26:57
Stevie as Aphe says our winters are nothing compared to the likes of Scandinavia and Canada for example. They tend to be fairly moderate so the costs of preparing for the occasional really bad one is too great for the benefits. In Sweden I understand they have car engine hot blankets outside restaurants to fit onto your car and use tyre chains to get around.
In some of the Canadian cities they have underground walkways to get around in winter between malls etc.
so ours aren't really that bad to merit the expense of getting that in place.
05 Jan 2026 22:52:40
Could be a ploy to get our players in holiday mode lol.
05 Jan 2026 22:52:58
Its a cunning plan.
05 Jan 2026 22:53:07
Met Office warning upgraded to Amber for tomorrow for snow and ice, captures Aberdeen City. Could be a blocker for travelling fans, I assume the team travelled today, sure I read somewhere they left Aberdeen at 2pm.
