The possibility of Cyriel Dessers joining AEK Athens have grown increasingly slim, as the Greek Super Lig club have signed Luka Jovic from AC Milan, Soccernet. ng reports.
I wonder if we will regret not accepting the offer that was placed last month on Cyriel Dessers.

I reckon Dessers was plan C or D mate, like most our players, teams will look to buy them at the end of the transfer window if all other plans have failed. I still reckon he'll go probably in a few weeks time.

I'm definitely not delighted if he stays. He is simply not good enough. Say what you want about his stats but if Dessers is the best we've got then it will be a very frustrating season.

We want a striker who just scores meaningful goals which matter. he doesn't have to score in games where we win by more than a goal as those are just wasteful.
also he needs to have a 100% goals to chances ratio otherwise he is poor and we will be able to do better.
he isn't allowed to hit the ground when there is contact from a defender or look for fouls to get us up the pitch and relieve pressure.
he must also learn to look over his shoulder for team mates when pressing as it means he is working for the team.
he must be able to control every ball which is played up to him and then have a 100% passing rate to teammates.
I think that sums up most of what fans think our striker should have. I may have missed some things so apologies if I have.

Genuinely, could be double that - that's not hyperbole. Could've added 5 to his tally at Dens alone earlier in the year hahaha. He's frustrating but a good striker none the less.

Plus its not just his goals he works hard runs around and shows more determination, fight and grit than several 1st teamers put together. We could and have had a lot worse than him so he should stay until soneone else can prove we no longer have to rely on him ?♂️.

If Dessers scored every chance he created he's be on 50 a season. He still scores a fair amount from chances created by others.

Cyriel dessers doesn't do it when it matters. 3 against Fraserburgh, 6 in 5 after the split when the league was done last season. that's over 1/ 3 of his goals last season.
not taking a penalty in the cup final was absolutely unforgiveable and he should have been sold that January.
the revisionism is absolutely unbelievable.
the only striker we have that is good enough is likely to be sold, we need 2 or 3 new strikers this window.

I've said before, for our 3rd choice striker he does extremely well on the goal front. That for a relatively poor Rangers team that create very little. Most of his goals AND misses he creates himself. I'd be delighted if he stayed as our back to a new number 9.

Our No. 9 should be scoring 20 league goals per season minimum - which has never done at Rangers.
If he was contributing in other ways you can look past this, but he doesn't. He's an out and out goal scorer that doesn't score.

I completely agree that keeping big Cyriel Dessers is a pragmatic option to take, unless we get a really great offer for him.
RM can see what he brings to the team, as can any common sense fan.
What an example of a player, who has been derided by many of our so called "supporters" ever since he pulled on our jersey.
It just goes to show the character of the man, to be able to shrug of this abuse, and continue to give his all for the club, whereas with many a modern day player, the toys would have been out the pram long ago.
For me, it's not even a question of "better the devil you know" 'cos CD9 ain't no devil.
