Right misconception. Ramsey was very good the games he played, he just wasn't available often and gets a bad label with the penalty. Tav hit the exact same penalty. Its down to luck.

RR - we played an exorbitant amount of money for Ramsey to play less than 7 games worth (c600 minutes) of football scoring 2 and setting up 2 I think. It's no joke to say we could have signed someone like Lewis Ferguson at the time for the amount of money we wasted on Ramsey in that short period. It's a game of opinions, and mine is definitely that he was a rotten singing.
PS. As soon as I saw him being brough on for Sakala in the final I made the comment to pals - he was always going to miss that pen. A ridiculous decision by GVB in my mind. What a waste.

I watched that game in Gran Canaria along with maybe 100 others and not a single person looked or sounded confident that he would score that penalty. Poor signing in my view.

Id argue the only real mistake in the final was not bringing on Sakala sooner leaving wright on till like the 80th min when his legs where gone after 45 min.
They was pushing us further and further back after our goal should have put Sakala on and run at that CB who made the error.

Don't care whether we got him for nothing or not, Ramsay was terrible signing for us, he had one or two good moments but generally the game up here passed him by.
As for the penalty miss it was poor decision to bring him on, but only in hindsight, because he missed . I'm pretty sure Roofe came on at the same time and he scored his penalty. The comment that Tav hit the exact same penalty is a bit daft, he scored his so it can't have been exactly the same.
Missing penalties happen to every player at some time or another but the fact is, that he missed and will always be known as the man that cost us the Europa League.

If that's the case and he cost us nothing then it was a no brainier. Or on the other hand we could've brought in another player who was fit enough to play and things may or may not have been different.
It's not ramseys fault he missed it, on another day he scores. It's one of these things I suppose, hard as it is to say it.
