I don't know what everyone else thinks on this but imo Derek McInnes shouldn't be going on about how he's racked with regret about leaving Hearts for Rangers, it's the main topic of conversation before our game against them tonight. 😑 If he felt that strongly about leaving Hearts for his boyhood club Rangers he should have stayed with them. πŸ€”

It's not the comments i want to hear from a Rangers manager just before we're about to play a very important game against his former club. πŸ€” If you're a Rangers man through and through that McInnes says he is you should have no regrets about getting the chance to manage your boyhood idols. πŸ€” I definitely think he shouldn't have been saying this so emphatically to the media prior to playing them this evening. πŸ€” What's everyone else's thoughts πŸ€”πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§.

Think you're looking too much in to it, SWS. He was asked a question and answered it honestly. I believe 'guilt' was the word used and not 'regret' as there's a massive difference. It's human nature to feel guilt when so many other people are looking up to you and you feel you've let them down, I believe that's all it is.

If he had actually said he felt 'regret' then that's a totally different story.

28 Oct 2026 12:09:10
Sws, did you watch McInnes's interview yesterday mate? Would have let you understand it much better, watch Sterling's as well, he said a few things i like hearing.

28 Oct 2026 12:11:22
Absolutely no problem with how he answered the questions in his press conference.
It must of been difficult to come to terms with things after the injustices he would have felt at the end of last season.
I don't mind honesty.

28 Oct 2026 12:23:48
Sws, you must be reading it from the media, as you know they'll turn things around.

28 Oct 2026 12:26:14
He never said he was 'wracked with regret', stop reading what isn't there and trying to sensationslize your posts with such hyperbolic language.

28 Oct 2026 12:28:32
He said he feels a degree of guilt, regret was never mentioned. After taking Hearts to within minutes of winning the league, and losing it due to the corrupt association, I for one can understand how he can feel guilty for not going for it again.

28 Oct 2026 12:39:55
There was more talk of ok his guilt at leaving Hearts than the most important thing getting the pre match conference going about his team and players first and foremost πŸ€” He's the Rangers manager for god's sake if he felt that much guilt why did he leave Hearts πŸ€”I won't change how i feel about this because i think there shouldn't have been a lot made of this and this is coming from someone who likes McInnes πŸ€”I spoke to a former employee of Rangers who is now retired and worked for years at Rangers and his words to me when i said this to him was 'my thoughts exactly 'πŸ€”.

28 Oct 2026 12:41:35
Coops Perhaos he's playing a mind game with the Hearts fans and players?

His comments could take the angry atmosphere out the equation thus taking an element of determination and intent away from hearts.

That's how I'd read it.

Clever managing from him.

28 Oct 2026 12:46:24
Gyldne, don't tell me to stop reading what isn't there pal πŸ€” Nothing at all to do with sensationalizing any post imo ok the word was guilt my mistake, why when he's going back there to play them to focus a lot on guilt of leaving Hearts for Rangers he's a boyhood Rangers supporter and this he keeps saying is the job he always wanted, so if he felt so guilty about leaving Hearts for Rangers he didn't need to if he felt that strong πŸ€”.

28 Oct 2026 12:53:05
He said he felt a bit guilty but he never said he regretted leaving Hearts and coming to Rangers .In fact he described coming here as him coming to his dream job.
This game was always going to have this narrative from the media so its no surprise and in fact it would have been worse if Shankland and Devlin had actually been on the field.

28 Oct 2026 12:53:11
OK then, Sir Walter, you just keep reading what isn't there.

28 Oct 2026 13:02:18
Aye and if you're happy with it pal that's up to you πŸ€” Should be all about the Rangers for me πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§.

28 Oct 2026 13:10:02
Sws, best advice is watch his interview, mate, take the media nonsense as exactly that.

28 Oct 2026 13:12:14
Sir Walter you asked for everyone's thoughts when you got them you didn't like the replies. It's like the age old question your wife asks. if you don't like the answer don't ask the question.

28 Oct 2026 13:36:22
SWS I agree with a lot of what you post but you're miles off it here, what stevie g said is spot on, he realises there's going to be a hostile atmosphere tonight and that the crowd and then in turn the team will be more up for it than usual, hes trying in some kind of reverse psychological way to take a bit of sting out it and maybe make it even a tiny bit easier for us- he never mentioned regret once, only guilt that he'd taken them so close and then immediately left, he doesn't regret coming to us for 1 second which should be good enough for you- do you think it wouldve been better going into tonight's game to say he hated his time at Hearts and had no guilt about leaving them without a manager in the summer?

28 Oct 2026 13:41:49
Media always manipulate things to suit their own narrative. Del's a good lad πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§.

28 Oct 2026 13:48:57
Fourlads, i like derek McInnes what i stated earlier but hand on heart too much mentioned on guilt regarding leaving Hearts for Rangers and that's absolutely the way i see it mate πŸ€”.

28 Oct 2026 13:53:22
Correct fourlads, they spin it up looking for clicks, mate.

28 Oct 2026 14:02:21
My take is that he's trying to take the sting out of what could be a really toxic atmosphere tonight essentially to benefit out boys on the pitch. His only regret is not having won the league at Hearts which after the way the season finished you can completely understand.

28 Oct 2026 14:09:34
He enjoyed his time with Hearts and came within 90mins of winning a league title. I appreciate his honesty sws. Media hate us so they will always ask awkward questions and then spin it that way to split fans. Don't buy it Del's heart is with Rangers it always has been β€οΈπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§.

28 Oct 2026 14:20:12
Didn't think there was any big deal with what he said to be honest. But everybody has an opinion.

28 Oct 2026 14:44:49
As I say when he comments on our players - DM is very good at handling the media.

Seems quite a trivial thing to get so worked up about, almost as trivial as getting upset about clubs using stats.

28 Oct 2026 15:10:13
Very close minded view sir Walter. You are usually better than that. He obviously feels a strong attachment to Hearts as anyone does. The fact he came to us shows he loves us more.

He's allowed to show respect to a club that gave him the platform to get the dream job. Tbh I don't even know why we are discussing this just looking for fault that isn't there.

28 Oct 2026 15:38:43
The guys a human being and it's only natural to have feelings, he would have made friends at the club plus he would have had a closeness with the fans considering how close they got to the title. Like anyone else in his position there would have been some doubts on whether he was doing the right thing coming to us.

28 Oct 2026 15:40:21
Sws, please calm down my friend πŸ€”.

28 Oct 2026 15:49:09
The joys of reading the Daily Record right here.

28 Oct 2026 15:47:19
My thoughts are as follows - you seem to be deliberately looking for irrelevant things to feel deeply offended by. Then come and post about how how terrible it is.

Same thing a couple of days ago when you had been dredging in the click bait canals and pulled up a wee story about some guy nobody had heard of and that he had said he didn't like Walter Smith, this nothing story also deeply offended you and you felt the need to tell every one.

Absolutely no need to try and get to top of the "im the staunchest ladder" with cheap meaningless staunch points.

28 Oct 2026 15:58:34
Coops, why are u cracking up at this?

McInnes has turned us into the Rangers we love for forst time since Gerrard's 2nd season and 3rd , we've not been "Rangers" since Gerrard.

Bro I love u as a poster and believe we'd be pals in The real world , with respect mate I think you've took this the wrong way.

See when we leave Tynecastle with 3 points thanks to McInnes will u change your mind.

I actually love the respect he has for his old club

It shows loyalty and a level of honour we don't see these days

I wish folk like reyna and gio showed us that respect when they left us.

Reyna is lauded and he slaughtered us imo.

McInnes has shown himself up really well. That's how a Rangers manager should conduct himself imo mate.

28 Oct 2026 16:25:39
Stevie G, i like derek McInnes mate be in no doubt about that pal. πŸ‘ But this is how i felt regarding this mate with far too much focus on it in his pre match press conference πŸ€”πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§.

28 Oct 2026 16:29:32
See nothing at all wrong with the particular interview being discussed. Can't really fathom what else the manager was expected to say in response to questions designed to generate click-bait headlines regardless of his responses.

For me all he did was try and diffuse what he knows will more than likely be a hostile reception/atmosphere both on and off the pitch, whilst making it clear he fully understands the reasons why the aforementioned may well happen tonight.

Whilst everyone is entitled to their own opinion I feel you've over reacted with the tone of your original post and subsequent replies, mibbes down to a wee bit of squeaky bum pre-match nerves kicking in, SWS.

Take it easy, man - in Del we trust.
πŸ”΄βš½πŸ”΅πŸ‘.

28 Oct 2026 16:55:26
Coops, never seen it only read the headline and and scrolled on past mate.

Don't wrote McInnes off for managerial mind games mate.

He's learned from Sir Walter.

Every small thing matters.

28 Oct 2026 16:58:58
That's what happens when your honest, would people prefer he told a lie? Can't believe this is being discussed tbh. It's human nature to feel like that, especially if you enjoyed your time at the club, which he certainly did. Nothing to see here imo, understand others feel differently.

28 Oct 2026 17:26:57
At the end of the day Hearts invested a lot of money into McInnes and he almost made history with them, he had fans and players alike looking up to him and believe it he would bring the club success.

If you don't feel some level of guilt of walking away from that then you're not human. He never brought it up he was asked the question and answered it honestly. Shows the guy is human, I've no problem with that.

28 Oct 2026 18:07:30
McInnes can only answer what he is asked and imo dealt with the questions very well.

28 Oct 2026 19:48:39
An apt M.I.B quoteπŸ˜‰

"Here is one of their stories that never happened, from one of their files that doesn't exist."

Sorry Coops just kidding budπŸ™„πŸ˜‰πŸ‘.
