Geezo think use are all jumping the gun here with devlin.
He's played 35 min for us
He's not gone create much for us do the dirty work well though
Neil vanja Barron properly chucki will play before he does most games unless its a 3

24 Jul 2026 18:41:39
Barron won't play in front of Devlin, Devlin will probably play in front of Vanja also for at least the first while to keep pressure off the lad while he settles.

24 Jul 2026 18:42:18
I think he would be ahead of Barron. He does nothing for me, too lightweight, can't score, can't defend, needs a different league to get the best out of him. I liked the look of Devlin, reminded me of the Gattuso role.

I wasn't sure, but after a glimpse, and considering he cost nothing, I would say it will improve our squad, not only on the pitch but in the dressing room. DM knows him so that's good enough for me.

24 Jul 2026 18:56:15
He isn't there to create though; he is there to 'destroy'. We will/should have others who will do the creating. I wasn't convinced in signing him, but he does give his all and is probably a better player than I give him credit for.

He isn't Ranldhino but no-one, not even he, claims that. Give the guy a break and let's just see what the season brings. Think at least he has the brasiers to put up with this sort of nonsense.

24 Jul 2026 19:20:30
I told everyone that Devlin would be a fantastic signing for us.

He's a far better player than 90% of people gave him credit for on here.

McInnes done an interview in which he said he told Devlin not long after he took over Hearts that he's a far better player than he had thought.

I think most fans will be dying the same soon.

24 Jul 2026 19:29:07
Devlin isn't in the team to create bluenose, he's in the team so the technical and creative players can do their job.

24 Jul 2026 19:37:05
Devlin will be in there to win the ball, make tackles, he's a better footballer than some give him credit for.

24 Jul 2026 19:47:52
He has played 35 mins against a 2nd division youth team!!
Can we please get real folks.

24 Jul 2026 19:55:06
Devlin will be fine, don't worry. Think it means Barron definitely drops out though as we now have plenty in CM. A shame, but should always be looking to upgrade. He'll do well where he goes, though I think, possibly Italy.

24 Jul 2026 20:10:39
Aye, and he's also done it against Celtic, ourselves and everyone else, don't see the relevance about getting real because it was a 2nd tier French team.

24 Jul 2026 20:17:39
Thought Neil was much more comfortable with Devlin beside him than Chucki.. chucking looked slow and pondering in first half. So is he the issue?

Would Raskin have looked better for Rangers in run in with a Neil or Devlin next to him?

Agree that 2nd half changes made a difference, but I can only think of a couple of matches Chucki did it for Rangers.

I'll give the new country/Jan signing for both him and Naderi but...

24 Jul 2026 20:30:51
Not like u Bar, one of the top midfielders in Scotland last season and as Marchdale says he's done it against us, them and everyone.

24 Jul 2026 20:42:45
As much as people are jumping the gun after 35 mins, there's also folk written the boy off before he'd even played, what is that about? Surely, every player should be allowed to at least try prove themselves? He might not have been the signing everyone wanted, but he's here, he's a Rangers player, let's get behind him instead of talking him down at every opportunity.

We haven't had a proper ball winner like this in years. That's why it feels like a revelation. The last one we had was Ryan Jack.

Devlin is great at what he does. The job of the CDM is to win the ball back out of possession, and play a short pass to a more creative teammate - That's it. We don't need Hollywood passes, we don't need speculative shots at goal.

We need him to win the ball, and keep possession. That's it.

Scott Brown did this exact same job for Celtic. He had one of the highest pass completion rates in Europe, not because he was a great passer, but because he only ever played a safe 10 yard pass. Devlin can do that job for us, and be just as influential. It's not to be underestimated.

24 Jul 2026 21:54:02
Exactly, RohlWithCheese. 👍 I don't know how anyone who knows the first thing about football wouldn't know what Cammy Devlin's midfield job is, and he's good at what he does. 👍 🇬🇧 He's not expected to create; he's expected to break opposition play and provide that protection/platform for our more attacking/technical midfielders to do their jobs.

🤔 🇬🇧 That's why the balance is much better, having a blend of different midfielders. 🤔

24 Jul 2026 21:56:19
Can't judge anyone from pre-season game. Double training beforehand, so legs will be like lead. It is all planned to get them to the stage where they can perform at start of season. Even then it is said to take 6-8 games to get to proper match fitness. Pre-season there to cut that process short.
Devlin obviously did less than Chucki in the training sessions. 😉😂

24 Jul 2026 22:07:20
I'm sure Cammy got the full 45 minutes on Wednesday.

24 Jul 2026 22:08:07
Apologies, Fork & everyone else!
Just can't see how we have improved (yet) from last year & we needed a helluva big improvement!
& Real games start next week!
I'll go back into my box for a wee while!!

24 Jul 2026 22:26:56
I think Devlin will do just fine for us domestically. In Europe might well be slightly different, but all in all he deserves a chance like everyone else. I reckon he'll prove himself. We need to get out of this snobbery of absolutely slating every player we sign as not being Rangers class. He knows the league and our manager pretty well, which I think goes a long way, plus the guy has an engine on him, something else we've been lacking.

I completely understand we all have different opinions on everything Rangers, and that's fine. It's all about opinions, after all, but sometimes the toxicity amongst our fans with certain players can be a hard read.

24 Jul 2026 23:23:39
I tend to agree, B72. Trying not to be too critical at the moment. I think this season may be another roller coaster.

25 Jul 2026 05:22:30
Not required, Bar. 👍👍

25 Jul 2026 06:40:32
That's not Devlin's fault, Bar.
He isn't Scottish, but knows the league, which the majority of you have asked for, and played very well in this league also. He is by far a better player than Barron.
I don't understand him getting crap from fans already, it really isn't his fault we as a club haven't got enough/correct players in for other positions.

25 Jul 2026 08:18:37
I agree Storm and Cammy Devlin in what type of midfielder he is and what he'll bring to our midfield will be a good signing for us. 👍🇬🇧
