Surely it's illegal to play in that heat? It's 38c!

We are having health warnings here for rising temperatures approaching 30c

Isn't it against player welfare playing in that heat, I get there is a hydration break, but jeez! I'm dying when it's 18 ?

Gazza, Your dropped from the team cause your ginger.

04 Jul 2026 21:58:33
I don't see issue with heat. Back in 1994 they refused water breaks. ?

04 Jul 2026 22:08:05
UK crumbles if it's too cold and also if it's a tad warm. ?

04 Jul 2026 22:08:09
Haha, Whitehorse! Close, I'm blonde, but just don't like too much hot.

I remember what it was like running about in that. I much preferred playing in rain and snow.

I understand they're professional athletes and very well conditioned, but still. Ice pole breaks required! Haha.

04 Jul 2026 22:09:45
No issue whatsoever.

04 Jul 2026 22:14:34
The difference is it's humidity, so it won't feel as bad there as compared to here.

Plus, both teams have to deal with the conditions, so no issue with it for me.

04 Jul 2026 22:27:17
I hope the players and fans have got their factor 50 on and anyone with a baldy Heidi has a skip hat.

Can't imagine a burnt napper would be pleasant.

Rather uneventful game so far.

Ref is having a mare of a game, half the Paraguay team should be booked. France need to move the ball quicker. That and the heat ? won't be helping any team.

04 Jul 2026 23:42:26
I know, right?

The South Americans starting to play ugly now and behaving like petulant children now too.

05 Jul 2026 00:01:08
Ref has been terrible!

05 Jul 2026 00:06:02
Correction! I mean 23 - dirty hot head.

05 Jul 2026 00:13:58
Ref has to be the worst at World Cup. How Paraguay only got one card to assistant manager beggars belief.

05 Jul 2026 00:20:41
France did well to get through the tie, largely unscathed, given the Paraguayan dark arts.
The officiating was horrendous throughout.

05 Jul 2026 00:58:53
Gazza, it was 35c when Scotland played Brazil, saw a video on sm of John McGinn saying how he felt exhausted after half an hour of running around in it, felt like it was hard to get a breath in it.

We've all been on holiday trying to find a we bit of shade when Mercury hits those temperatures. Can you imagine doing sprints in it? Would be horrible.

05 Jul 2026 01:02:44
Always laugh at the health warnings now on the weather in the news, big dark red colouring and the end of the world being spouted. Years ago, it was a big smiley face on a yellow sun, and everyone grateful for seeing the sun.

05 Jul 2026 00:01:50
I know, right!

And the South Americans starting to play ugly. Behaving like petulant children too.

That number 8 for Paraguay is a dirty cheat. Goretza if that's his name.

05 Jul 2026 01:07:13
Was the ref South American?
