Perhaps we just need to realise he isn't a player to run around aimlessly, and play him in a system which suits him. He isn't a fb but a flair player, so play him that way and we might get the player Norway get.
He creates space by not moving, has quick feet, so creates space through that. If you want defensive solidness, then sign Devlin, but he won't score goals and is nowhere near as inventive. I know which I would prefer.

Aasgaard seems to try harder when he plays at international level. When he plays for Rangers there's a distinct lack of effort going on.

No, he played exactly the same way last night, jogging around, finding space. It is just that Norway and their manager want him to play that way and be creative. For his goal last night he dummied a world class defender who had to pay to get back in.
There were lots of instances of his quick feet creating that space to play. We thought the same about Bajrami, so it is that style of player fans seem to have an issue with not just Thelo.
