Ross mccrorie? Thoughts.
23 Jun 2026 22:41:01
Good signing.
23 Jun 2026 22:41:22
I think it's a good signing, he's a big, strong lad, powerful runner, good defender. Knows the league, knows the club, knows what's required. Has a good bit of experience under his belt now. I'd still like Sterling moved on and another brought in for good competition tho.
23 Jun 2026 22:45:53
Average, require much better.
23 Jun 2026 22:54:11
If he signs, then I wish him well, but not the most exciting signing. Will all new signings have a connection to McInnes?
23 Jun 2026 23:00:43
He's been linked for months on here. Nothing to do with McInnes.
Club trained and a good utility player. I believe he will be Sterling's replacement.
Rangers have a squad to rebuild, not just a starting 11.
23 Jun 2026 23:08:14
Yes, but the squad needs to be able to step in and replace the starting 11 without any significant drop off in standard. Does McCrorie do that? Not imo. Hopefully the club are a bit more inventive in where they are recruiting other than ex-players.
23 Jun 2026 23:17:40
I'd say he's better than most of last season's imposters.
23 Jun 2026 23:23:05
McCrorie rb or Tavernier rb, McCrorie is easily a better defender, Angus, I've wanted him signed for a while now, stood out for Bristol in plenty games I've watched the highlights or against Sunderland, but still see another rb signed and Sterling sold.
23 Jun 2026 23:40:13
As a back up rb who'll get his chance to claim it for his own, like everyone else, he's a great signing.
He can play CDM and cb in a 3.
Scottish and club trained. Cannot ask for any more than that in a squad player.
Ticks a lot of boxes for me.
Great signing.
24 Jun 2026 00:10:44
A sensible and solid signing and definitely an upgrade on Aarons. He can also play multiple positions. I still think we'll likely sign another rb.
24 Jun 2026 00:38:23
I always like to have one or two players who can cover multiple positions and he ticks that box.
24 Jun 2026 00:38:44
Well said, Stevieg2, totally agree. As Coisty says, we have a squad to build, not every signing will be exciting, but, imo, he's a perfect back up for someone. Will split opinion like most of our signings.
24 Jun 2026 00:40:17
Complete backwards step imo.
24 Jun 2026 01:50:17
Worth 3 mill Stevie G?
24 Jun 2026 03:39:19
Sterling played around 17 games last season, so a guy that can feature in at least double that and counts as academy trained etc is not necessarily any form of drop off.
24 Jun 2026 06:13:48
Excellent like for like replacement for Sterling with added reliability to stay available. On his last year at Bristol and won't cost the earth. Knows the club, the league and has played under McInnes. Sensible signing.
24 Jun 2026 06:20:58
Ross Mccrorie a good solid signing imo. ? I've no doubt we'll sign another right back. ? Mccrorie is a solid defender, like a good few have said, and can play in 2 or 3 different positions. ? He knows the expectations at Rangers and can play in the Scottish league, so ticks most boxes for me. ? ??
24 Jun 2026 07:40:01
Mcorrrie or Max Aaron's as back up RB, Angus? Clear upgrade.
24 Jun 2026 07:58:05
Star, you see we are different in that. Tavernier or McCrorie at RB and I choose Tavs every time. We are an attacking team, so we need our FBs to be adding to that. Yes, they need to defend, but we need to set our team up to defend better whilst the FB is attacking. Just because he is better than Aarons doesn't mean he is a good option, and that sort of logic will never make the team better if we use it for every field player we have. tbh I would rather have the young lad who was on loan at Falkirk last season as our back up.
I just don't see McCrorie playing and he is from the English Championship which has suddenly become okay to buy from again. ?
His Transfermarkt value is £3M and I can't see how he has improved that significantly to be worth that to us. The only benefit he provides is being an addition to squad trained for Euro games, but I seem to remember there were people on here arguing against that not all that long ago; can't remember the player though.
24 Jun 2026 08:04:33
The priority signings must be to improve the starting xi, not the squad. McCrorie good squad player, agreed. But let's get the starting xi prioritised, please!!
24 Jun 2026 08:35:45
Yes, we have a squad to build, but people can still call out a signing for being bang average, which, if we do it, doesn't make the boy better than bang average. All this he gets it rubbish also. ?♂️
24 Jun 2026 09:23:39
Angus, clearly different, mate, I'm always wanting my defenders to defend first of all.
24 Jun 2026 09:27:09
Angus, leagues have always been irrelevant for me anyway, makes no difference what league we sign players from, this don't use the champions has always been too much for me, I just leave that for others, mate.
24 Jun 2026 11:19:52
The argument against the Championship is they come up here and don't know how to cope with the pace and frantic nature of the Scottish game. Ross Mcorrie played in Scotland so that's not going to really effect him, is it, Angus?
