Arteta has just won his first league title after 7 years at Arsenal. Congratulations!
It's taken mistakes, trial and error and a mentality shift to get them there. Lots of players came and went and they've had to compete against some very good teams.
I personally look at this and see a model that works in finding a good coach and sticking with him.
Hopefully our fans get back on board next season and realise that this season's failure was not the fault in our one man, our coach.
Transformation will take time. Hopefully this season also shows that you can be a number of points behind in October and still challenge late on.

Rostosto, good post, but our issue is the fans won't wait 7 weeks.
20 May 2026 11:49:21
Good League win, but helped in some way by both Liverpool & Man City dropping off in performance.
Never mind, well done Mikel Arteta.
20 May 2026 11:57:37
Is it impossible though just to accept a team won the league because they were the best. Man City actually have 6 points more this season with a game to go. Arsenal, if they win their last game, will also have 1 point more than Liverpool did last season. So, the fall away in form isn't correct in why they won; it is because they got better.
I think it is like us, when if we win the opposition are poor and we aren't just good or better.
Altogether, a good point about allowing a manager to build a winning team and squad. Joh is right that we rarely give anyone more than 7 weeks. Arteta proves that with patience comes success.

BAR72, I've always said this regarding any team that wins their league, no matter how they've won it, they've deserved to win as they've finished top of the pile, simple as. ? Arsenal have deserved to win the league, and you only need to look back over the last 2 or 3 seasons when Arteta's Arsenal should have won the league and crumbled at the business end of the season.
? I'm delighted for Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal that they've won the league. ??? Arteta is a very good coach/manager. ?
20 May 2026 12:34:22
Quite literally, John. Some will be calling for his head in October if he's dropped points.
20 May 2026 12:45:54
The fans call the squad rubbish. They demand a summer rebuild. Then, when the rebuilt squad loses a couple of games at the start of the new season, they want the manager sacked. Then the cycle begins again. This needs to stop.
The Rangers board need to be strong and stick with Rohl no matter how toxic the fans get.
We cannot keep ripping it up and starting all over again. The constant changing of manager is one of the main reasons our club has been in such a shambles.
20 May 2026 12:48:38
It's simple. Show us a plan. Show us a style of play. Show us improvement. A big statement of intent will be who is Captain.
20 May 2026 12:54:59
Agreed, John, but fans don't run the club. If Cavanagh and Rohl have thick skin, then fans won't matter, and season tickets will still be sold.
20 May 2026 12:59:53
Windy, no it isn't that simple. There is a plan, there is a style of play, there is improvement. Yet, even with those components the fans still wanted to sack Rohl as we lost the games in the post split matches and didn't win the league.
Fans say they will be happy if they see that, but losing games then results in the same old rubbish about not seeing a style, manager making wrong team selections, wrong subs, at the wrong time and that the press conferences are now poor. Fans/supporters need to remember that they are just what their title says, and not would be coaches or pundits.
Until that happens, and we give someone time, we will continue to be runners up at best. Yes, have an opinion but realise they don't know why decisions are made. Just the fact that choosing the captain could cause fans to be unhappy with the manager or club says it all tbh. I want 11 captains on the pitch; we have to give one of them the wee scrap of cloth, it is just historical.
Sorry, but just fed up with good managers being chased out the door far too early because of fan impatience. Why we have won little in 15 years imo.
20 May 2026 13:06:06
Aye, Arsenal only won the league because everyone else was crap, no bother. Arsenal won the league because they were overall the best team. COYG!
20 May 2026 13:14:39
Absolutely spot on Orange T. ???
20 May 2026 13:21:26
Tbh, I wanted Rohl to go, but if we've made the decision to carry on with him that's fine. I'm not expecting to win every game, especially in the early weeks. However, we need to see progress. If we see that, combined with every player giving their all in every game, if the recruitment is proven to be good enough, that'll do for me.
20 May 2026 13:46:13
Big difference competing with Klopp ss Liverpool, Pep Man City, Chelsea at times, a rejuvenated club the size of Villa with their too coach and team, Newcastle and Bournemouth etc etc to competing with one of wor Celtic teams we've seen in over a decade for last few years, and rapidly declining.
Big difference mate.
20 May 2026 13:51:37
Davie, some fans think they run the club.
Orange, why you saying come on ye Greens mate.
20 May 2026 14:09:34
It's come on you Gunners, John.
20 May 2026 14:21:33
???? Walter.
20 May 2026 14:29:29
Angus, I believe the fans bought into this change of regime and it backfired after 8 weeks. This is what's causing the issue.
Remember SG was given 3 years to win the league, without Covid who knows. The squad was a 3rd SPL side. He left and that squad went to a European final. Ever since we have gone backwards. We have lost 4 direct entries in CL and haven't won the league in 6 years.
You want fan investment, give them something that lasts more than 8 weeks. Even DR indicates this pressure bowl is greater than Munich, and indicates we need leaders.
The next club captain is the "Statement of Intent" I'm waiting on.
Although lots of players are being discussed, I am quietly confident that the club will restructure in the right direction.
20 May 2026 16:08:03
Windy, on the other foot, if you want success then the fans need to give the club and team longer than 8 weeks. Bayern are under less pressure as they have little challenge in Germany, and they are at the top all the time because they don't have to rebuild every time a new manager comes in. They are building from a successful base, and we seem to be going backwards as it takes time for any manager to build that squad.
Gerrard managed that as he was given 3 years; but if you remember he would have been out but was saved by Covid. It may not be well liked, but we won that league imo because it was Covid and there were no fans. That reduced the pressure, and players could take risks without the inevitable boos. Taking those risks meant we were more effective in attack, and every mistake at the back wasn't roundly picked on.
Personally, I couldn't care who the next captain is. From what you say, it will just be the next thing for fans to say the club/manager gets wrong and the next stick to beat the club with.
I am much more interested in seeing who the leaders are that are being targeted. We have already proved that one man as captain in Tavernier can't get the club to win a title even though he is held personally responsible, and I would place my money on whoever is next not being able to either. It is those we put around that person which matters, and the background noise being hushed at the club.
I reckon that we are on track for fans discontent with the manager if he loses a few games early next season. I hope that AC holds firm, unlike the last board of supporters, and gives time to build that base.
So, I think we are at last on the right track, and the only way it can be derailed is by not giving the time needed to get things on the pitch right. 9-12 months will never be enough time to do that. But then again I perhaps have more patience than most and am willing to wait a little to have a team who will be able to challenge and win every year not just this one.
20 May 2026 16:32:27
Aye right, John, be honest you didn't know. ?
20 May 2026 16:56:56
Well said, Angus. I will always maintain that the only reason we won that 20/21 title as there were no fans to jump on the players' backs.
20 May 2026 16:57:08
Arsenal won it because City and Liverpool were crap.
Similar to our season but we didn't have the bottle or the corrupt refs in our favour to win anything.
20 May 2026 18:57:46
Walter, I knew, not as stupid as you think, although I did not think you would be first in.
And, I swear on my great grandchild's life.
20 May 2026 18:59:27
i am happy for Arsenal, i have great memories of going to old Highbury, last time was Nigel winterbourne's testimonial i think, if i have a liking for any English club its probably Arsenal.
21 May 2026 07:13:09
My late dad, god bless him, went to Highbury also TT12 ?. When we had the friendship with them, playing them alternate seasons, one year Ibrox, the next Highbury, my dad made friends with some Arsenal supporters from his visits to Highbury ?. My dad's favourite English club was always the Arsenal because of the visits down there. ? ??
