After the kudos for getting us back into a title race, the knives are now out for Rohl.
2 games / results against your biggest rivals can do that.
A league game we should have cruised to victory in.
And knocked out a Cup that was there to be won.
So where do we go from here?
It's no surprise we only had 12 managers ( 13 if you count the late great Walter Smith twice ) in our history up until 2011 when we were at our most successful.
115 trophies in 139 seasons.
Since 2011, we've had 9 full time managers.
And 3 trophies in 14 seasons.
It took us 18 years of existence to win our first title – shared with Dumbarton. It took us another 8 seasons to win the next.
We've won titles in every decade of the 1900's.
Between those titles we've had Celtic win 9 in a row and the emergence of the New Firm in the early 80's.
Prior to Souness arriving we hadn't won a title in 9 years.
Patience is no longer a virtue for Rangers fans ( except for possibly Angus and some of the older generation who've been fortunate to see a variety of different Rangers teams ).
But that has no relevance on the here and now for a younger generation who have been starved of success and possibly those who lived through our own 9 in a row and the dominance we held over Scottish Football between 1986 and 2010 where we won 17 titles.
In our 154-year-old history, we've won 35% of the titles on offer.
In our 154-year-old history, we've won 22% of the Scottish Cups on offer.
In the League Cups history, we've won 35% of them on offer.
Throw in a European title in 1972 which most of us were too young to see. The flip side is that we've seen our club in 2 European finals in 2007/2008 and 2021/2022.
Patience is no longer a virtue for Rangers fans ( except for possibly Angus and some of the older generation who've been fortunate to see a variety of different Rangers teams ).
It doesn't help that our biggest rivals are now the dominant force.
It doesn't help that we've had a few false dawns since 2012.
Rohl might or might not be the man?
The fall off since getting right back into a title race has been a huge disappointment.
Throw in getting knocked out the domestic Cups by our rivals.
And a terrible European campaign.
He's galvanised a squad that most had deemed as not good enough.
The new owners will back him – so does he deserve another transfer window?
Can he be classed alongside Martin, Beale, Pedro and Warburton?
Or does he deserve to be given time like Gerrard?
If not, as a club where do we go from here?
A couple of years back, plenty were raving about Thellin at Aberdeen.
Now it's a Motherwell manager who has done above expectations in his first season of Scottish Football.

I agree with much of what u are saying, Mph, but also football as a whole has changed. Most clubs' history with managers will be similar up until, probably, the last 20-30 years. Very few managers get more than a season or two at clubs now.
10 Mar 2026 13:23:24
But patience is the key for any manager. Maybe the younger fans better get that in their head then, Mph. This sacking of managers as frequently as we are doing is the reason we win barely anything.

Rohn needs a preseason and more players added. Then he can be judged far better next season. He's done very well in getting us in this fight.

Youre 100% on the money, mystar.

I'd like to see him tweak it at the weekend, trying to get more creativity into the starting 11.
He needs to target every single game from now on.
For me, play one of Dio, Raskin and Chukwuani. They all do their best work in their own half. And go attacking the rest of the team.
4-3-2-1 (2 number 10s).
Butland
Sterling
Djiga
Fernandez
Rommens
Bajrami
Raskin
Moore
Olsen
Naderi
Chermiti.
Appreciate a lot of these lads are off from atm, but still think it's our best chance of success.

He does need time, but the last 7 games, when he has had more time on the training field, have been worrying, as we were all told we would be better for it, and we are not seeing that.
Glad we got a draw at the weekend. Who did we get in the semi-final draw?
10 Mar 2026 15:34:35
Good factual post, MPH, but to class Warburton in the same class as Martin, Beale, Pedro is a bit harsh, I think.
10 Mar 2026 15:42:26
He has to start Miovski at the weekend to freshen things up.
10 Mar 2026 16:05:44
Sorry, Miovski has done even less than the other 2.
10 Mar 2026 16:13:37
Geeza - at least there is a goal in Miovski. Can't really see the same in Naderi yet? ? Could have done with Miovski on for Naderi at weekend, but all subs were made.

We need to go back to overloading the opponents' box like we did in the recent Killie & Hearts games. We are too slow at moving the ball around outside the box, giving defenders a chance to regroup. Having shots from distance would be welcomed as well.

Mph, thanks for the name check, but tbh fans have never had that patience. Social media has changed the way things are. But, unless we stick with a manager to first build, and even then support him when we go through a bad patch, we will never win anything again.
The forum keeps on repeating the "definition of insanity" quote, but do the same. The manager is great, then no, he isn't, as he chooses the wrong team, tactics, subs.
Then the pressers are poor, and what he was praised for saying is now wrong. Sack him, and repeat. 10 years now in SPL, and we don't learn. Does no-one else see this exact pattern repeating?
Often, I think people only get what they deserve, in life in general, but you could argue this here as well.
10 Mar 2026 16:32:54
I see enough in Rohl for him to be given time, Angus.
Unfortunately, football is a very emotive sport.
The league game was a great case in point. Wondering how many we were going to score in the 2nd half, to Wtf, how did we get a point.
10 Mar 2026 18:11:50
Storm. ?
10 Mar 2026 18:22:14
MPH, I agree. ? And I was as disappointed as anyone. We need to stop reacting after a bad result or even a couple of draws. Yes, it hurt our chance of winning this year, but not as much as sacking another manager will.
All I do is try to take that emotion out of what I post on here about the team. Unless it is the embarrassing fans, that is.
10 Mar 2026 19:00:40
Angus, what he is saying in press conferences is pure waffle recently, and getting involved mentioning them also. Would you rather fans lied and said, "Oh, his press conferences are great"?
You get asked a question about them, just don't answer, and move on to the next one. It's not that difficult.
10 Mar 2026 20:59:08
Star, Danny Rohl should be giving the same time to build his own squad as Gerrard got, imo.
10 Mar 2026 21:43:25
Storm, the pressers are the same now as they always were. That is the point. So the difference is that we aren't winning any more. So, should fans do the same as you suggested Rohl does, and just not comment?
My point is, fans think that it is a stage in the end of a manager. However, not this time, I reckon, as we have new owners who want to succeed long term.
