I hope that DR takes 1 thing from last night. Play your strongest team you can and stop giving chances to players who might turn it on in training but constantly don't produce when it's required. Players left on the bench for me would have in my eyes gave us a more solid line up and good attacking creativity and I think 2 more goals but you never know I suppose.

My thoughts are the obvious. We need to win all games going forward and like you all I desperately want this title. Still a happy bear the future is bright and that's my longer term focus.

Watch him play Gassama and Chermiti again Sunday. ? Gassama sulkin when coming off, as if he didn't deserve to be hooked. Was absolutely rotten.

12 Feb 2026 10:52:14
I'd be surprised if he didn't play what he felt was his strongest team.

So is the ask that he plays what the fans believe is the strongest team?

We were poor, particularly in the fullback positions, which is where I think we 'lost' the tactical battle.

12 Feb 2026 11:08:26
EHL, that is my point, but making it badly, as always ;). He will pick the strongest team he has available, which won't always be what we think as fans.

12 Feb 2026 11:15:04
EHL, our front 3 had zero impact on the game at all.

12 Feb 2026 11:20:44
So EHL, you think he's signed Skol, Naderi and Rommens, and none of them are in his strongest team? Come on now, mate, be serious. I know you don't like to criticise the club and try to be as sensible as possible, but sometimes the criticism is justified.

12 Feb 2026 11:43:27
Wishy, I have no issues being critical of the club.

I queried the team line up with a couple of contacts, who advised that Fernandez, Olsen and Rommens were not fit to start.

So it's easy to say they should be in our strongest 11, but that's different from the strongest 11 available.

Personally, I'd have rather have seen Naderi and Antman start. Both weren't due to tactical reasons, which I think was a mistake.

12 Feb 2026 12:06:51
EHL, did you not say that this was the last midweek game for a couple of months now? If so, this will affect who plays from now on, as less pressure on the squad. Also, I think last night was the first game Motherwell had this month.

12 Feb 2026 12:23:22
That wasn't the strongest available, and we all know that, but apparently it was all because of sports science. ?

12 Feb 2026 12:35:43
Yip, sorry EHL, but I think he got it wrong last night, and if that late goal didn't go in, then we'd all be saying the same thing; Danny Rohl is getting results despite not playing well.

I wasn't keen on adding another defender to see out the 1-0, as I felt we weren't in control enough in the midfield and attacking areas at that point.

Regardless, Danny Rohl knows the squad, their fitness levels, and we have to back him and put trust into the man when we are not at our best. We can't win them all, and with every late goal going against us in the top 3, we could have been looking at a very different league table with a change in luck. Danny Rohl on Sunday.

12 Feb 2026 12:38:12
I agree about the full backs. I would have played Sterling in this one, and Tav against Hearts, if they had to be rotated. I thought last night called for strong defending against pace, whereas I think the Hearts game might need a more attacking right back. Meghoma had a shocker too. He was weak and looked nervy. However, we don't know how fit Rommens is, or how good he is defensively.

We don't know if Skov Olsen is carrying an injury, but I do think Antman deserved a start before Gassama, just on recent form. I have to say I thought substitutions were strange, taking off Dio, who I thought was doing well, and it has shown that we are light in midfield options until Barron comes back.

12 Feb 2026 12:44:17
I think you could get the fans on this forum to pick what they deem as their team for Hearts, and you would get a few different permutations.
Doesn't make us right, doesn't make us wrong, as we are only passing an opinion.

Unfortunately, Danny Rohl (and all managers) live and die by their team selection.
And, as fans, it gives us the chance to dissect all things from the game.
And that includes the good, bad and ugly. It's part and parcel of football.

12 Feb 2026 13:00:28
EHL, I get your point. We only 2nd guess the reasons unless we are told before or after the match.
I'm only thinking, if all selected bench included are all fit to play, the new players should be on from the start.
If I've missed a DR presser, it's my bad.

12 Feb 2026 13:03:36
Sports science tells you, though, who is fit and available, hence strongest isn't always what we think is the strongest.

12 Feb 2026 13:10:10
Fair enough, thanks for the response.
