Listened to that clowns press conference and he actually said he was proud of the players after a good second half performance and that we are excited to go over there and attack.
This alone tells me he has no clue at all and way out his depth. Those players did not look like they want to play for him either and he is on the verge destroying out entire season by the end of August.
I'm sure there can't be a single person on this forum now defending this man? If any of you exist can you tell me why he should stay? Would much rather have PC or SG back, Palace sacked a manager after 5 weeks so why can't we?
20 Aug 2025 11:36:36
Who do you suggest we should go for if/ when we get rid of Russell Martin?
20 Aug 2025 11:38:56
So we sack him after 8 weeks in charge? nobody is happy, but 8 weeks is far too soon for any manager losing his job, what men do you think would be interested in becoming the Rangers manager then Bigbluejim, sacking managers constantly is a major part is why we go trophies less yearly.

Personally I would take Gerrard back or Danny Rohl
Gerrard would do well with the squad.
The squad is good it is the tactics and the way they are being told to play that is the issue.

DTB I can give my personal opinion but those will have teams now.
I have said for ages now that Knutsen would be my number one choice but no way is he joining us now. If we were to sack RM by the start of September then I would bring SG back, knows how to win in the league, his profile in the game still buys some respect from players.
The one thing that is clear is RM is not the man for our club and must go before it's a write off.

Derek McInnes.

1. Marco Rose - Preferred formation 4-4-2
2. Luciano Spalletti - Preferred formation 3-5-2
3. Edin Terzić - Preferred formation 4-2-3-1
all different with good backgrounds preference in above order.

Bouncy
Don't know how realistic but I'd try get SG back.
20 Aug 2025 12:13:46
What annoys me is he said we are a club that been in a mess a while . In the league I could agree. But we always turned up in Europe that brugges team are good but we ha e beaten far better past years . We have went back the way. Martin sounds more like a politician than a manager, blaming everything on previous folk.
20 Aug 2025 12:27:18
Anyone but RM is the easy answer.
20 Aug 2025 12:27:41
So you want him to stay Star? So I'll ask again, why should he remain in the job? I want an actual answer as to why and not just the "we can't sack him as it's 8 weeks in"
Are you buying into what he is offering us? Are you a fan of him making our better players worse? Are you a fan of his one ball beats our entire team? Are you a fan of our poor attacking record? I want to know what you see that MANY of us don't.
Broxi Rohl would be a good shout but I'd still take SG as he knows what's needed and done it already.

Gerrard tick ✅
Rohl?
Clement ✅
Barry tick ✅.

I am happy to give him more time as the second half once again shows the players can play under him. I think he is proud as we were so poor second half but given our poor squad mentality perhaps the good performance in the second half was the start of players believing in what he is trying to do.
the result last night wasn't caused by poor tactics but 3 individual mistakes. no manager can legislate for that.
if you watched the presser as well you would have heard him talk about the historical mentality issues the club have had and how difficult those are to change. you can change as many players as you want but until he changes that culture then he is gone. thankfully the new owners realise that as well so won't react emotionally.
not saying he is the right man but that the next manager, if anyone wants it, would have the same culture issues to solve.
20 Aug 2025 12:44:45
Banger he was talking about winning things.
20 Aug 2025 12:52:35
And why would any of the above managers take the job when the fans would want them sacked if they don't see immediate improvement, don't get me wrong I'm not against Martin getting sacked.
20 Aug 2025 12:57:04
Bigbluejim, only because 8 weeks isn't long enough for any manager to put his stamp on things, massive mistakes had us 2 goals down after 7 minutes and the players confidence was on the floor at that point, vastly improved in the second half, he is doing my nut in right now as well, but I'm willing too give him a little longer but we must see a massive improvement, am only hoping we win both our next league games and are one point behind, this sacking manager will not work as we've all seen for so many years now.
20 Aug 2025 12:58:25
Angus but they individual mistakes is getting blamed on tactics mate.
20 Aug 2025 13:20:07
Angus the only thing the second half showed was that Brugge knew the game was won and took their foot off the gas, that being said they could and should have scored more even then.
Historical issues, we won the league under SG, we made a EL final under GVB, we won a cup under PC. These players that were here for such things know how to win games and not give away stupid goals. His tactics and player confusion of said tactics cause the many issues we saw last night. Not denying there is some problem but with the amount of signings we have made, there should be some effort by them but last night only Gassama and Meghoma looked like they could even be bothered. Also said mentality has never been questioned in Europe but now all of a sudden it's an excuse for a shocking performance.
20 Aug 2025 14:13:14
Tbh I'm still in the manager gets more time camp. I also do not totally buy this Stevie G could be our saviour talk. It took him 3 full seasons to win his one and only trophy as our manager. I'm not sure any Rangers fan in the current climate would accept this again as we seem to want them punted within a few weeks these days.
20 Aug 2025 14:20:36
Angus you mention cultural issues what do you think they are and who has them.
