Hi folks, re the sacking poll; Agree probably a bit OTT, but i, along with the majority are fed up. Let's not forget we have played more than 2 league games, we've played 5 competitive games and drawn 3 and won 2.

Question, then how long do we give him if we stay on this rocky trajectory? At what points gap do we put the ballon up?

He's not far away from the real prospect of being sacked imo, he has been backed and we've not played any difficult fixtures in the SPL yet.

The new owners said in their interview, there is no honeymoon period, make no mistake the manager knows his task is to win.

10 Aug 2025 13:14:17
Yeh, you're right, the owners did say there is no honeymoon period but Martin says this will take time.

10 Aug 2025 13:15:32
Answer me this tjbb. If we sack martin after 5 competitive games, what type of manager are we going to be able to get? Who can we sell our club to, with any potential candidate knowing we sacked another manager after 5 games. Could be a hard sell.

10 Aug 2025 13:22:44
If and it's a big if he continues to manage in the same way with the same tactics and playing players out of position and we are 15 points behind by Christmas he should be shown the door then. For me he was the wroing appointment nut i honestly hope I'm wrong. Dundee are brutal and motherwell not much better and both have new managers and going through a rebuild on a fraction of the money we have spent and at our disposal. To take 2 points from 6 is totally unacceptable.

10 Aug 2025 13:28:47
So we've played 2 league games and 3 European games and are through (pretty much) 2 qualifying rounds and haven't lost any games out of the 5, and we want the manager sacked? Seriously guys this is getting silly season now.

10 Aug 2025 13:30:32
Any club sacking the manager after five games will be laughed at, we would laugh at any other club doing that, but you never know Orange the next manager would maybe be thinking about the pay off after a few months.

10 Aug 2025 13:31:11
OT i ain't for one min saying sack him on the poll i put no. But how long do you give a guy? I would say at majority of fans didn't want Martin and the last two teams we have played have changed managers and players and seem to be playing ok. Where as we are rank rotten in the league.

10 Aug 2025 13:34:19
It's not about time for me, it's about showing he's tactically adaptable.

Taking the 2 league games, two draws could be forgiven if we were putting in a performance that gives us hope.

Instead our set up was poor and at no point over the course of the two games did we look to change things in order to insert any kind of attacking authority in the game.

Apart from that, it'd be nice to see him show some humility and take accountability for getting it wrong, instead of looking to blame others.

10 Aug 2025 14:04:43
I don't see 5 games undefeated as a rocky trajectory TJBB56 Frustrating yes. Dundee played out their skins. 10 behind the ball when needed. It's hard to beat. They won't play like that against anyone else and will get bumped. Gass is gash now, Antman is pants no doubt. We will prevail but Raskin must play!
And I'd play st mirren game introduction of big Fernandez.

10 Aug 2025 14:09:12
No one will want to come here if we sack a manager after 5 or 6 competitive games and having to bring in more or less a new team.
What example does that set if you're not willing to back or see through a project as some call it.

He has to be judged over a period of time with his own players in the building, then if it's not working the board has a decision to make, every fan is really frustrated about how things have gone but at the moment that's the worst decision to make.

10 Aug 2025 14:17:16
It will take time? To build a team that can beat Dundee at Ibrox? It will take a manager who knows what he is doing and we don't have that.

10 Aug 2025 14:17:42
Another thing if you thing the 49ers group are going to pull the plug on the manager, player recruitment network and infrastructure after only a small number of competitive games then you are going to be disappointed, always a chance this was going to happen early on in the season. We need to get behind the team more than ever at this point.

10 Aug 2025 14:21:40
Ehl is rm trying to be too smart and confusing the players from doing what they're supposed to do?

10 Aug 2025 13:45:30
Said it for the last couple of managers. What gives you confidence sacking another manager will make us better. The only thing we have done consistently in recent years is sack managers. It's brought us some of the worst Rangers teams I have ever watched.

Why would it be different this time?

10 Aug 2025 13:54:58
The owners won't sack Russell Martin anywhere near this early guys ? He'll easily get the full season for me ?.

10 Aug 2025 14:22:10
Agreed OT

Gerrard got 3 years. Why does RM get 3 weeks?

49ers seemed very proud of the "data driven" process that led to Martin and after a very thorough recruitment process announced that he was the man for the job and the one they wanted all along.

If they sack him early, every aspect of their process, professional judgement, and public statements made about it should be called into question.

I despise this cycle of sacking managers. If he goes we're onto our fifth manager since 2021. It would be a farce, and we would be high risk for any talented manager aspiring to build a name in the game.

For those reasons I think he stays, and I hope he does.

I did not want him. But he is here now, and should be backed to the hilt. I hope the 49ers tell the noisy fans to shut their pieholes and get behind the team.

10 Aug 2025 14:27:07
I still don't understand how he got the job in the first place.
He must have gave one hell of an interview.
Very few fans wanted him.

10 Aug 2025 14:39:26
What's smart about playing with pace and movement?
Not difficult instructions to follow.

10 Aug 2025 14:45:29
Sir walter. If were 15 points behind by xmas and out everything domestically there zero chance he will get full season.

10 Aug 2025 14:46:06
I suppose we don't actually know who wanted the job that could be the key question.

10 Aug 2025 14:51:38
OWS, i would say so.

The players are not empowered to adapt on the pitch - if they do they get called out and benched.

There was a period in the first half where Jefte started overlapping and we actually got a bit of joy - shortly after you can see him starring at the bench as he got a rollicking - after that he just sat in that pocket in the midfield contributing very little.

It's all very bizarre.
