Reading that some would like Gerrard back why? What exactly has he achieved in management? Failled at Villa, spent millions in Saudi but never really succeeded there and won 1 trophy at Rangers. Certainly not for me.
26 Apr 2025 09:58:34
Good one trophy to win though, but I agree with your thoughts Baxter??.
26 Apr 2025 09:59:05
Some fans are delusional Baxter and thing he was a success here when he failed.
26 Apr 2025 10:05:22
They probably hold some sort of romantic notion due to him winning 55, and our last title.
When he left, we were league champions, and I think, 5 points clear, and I honestly believe that these fans think he'll come back and everything will be rosy, again.
I'll always be grateful to him for delivering 55, but if he was to come back, it will not end well.

Mate I'm just psyching myself up for him and trying to see positives in case what I heard is correct.
I do think with the correct back room and this takeover he might do alright.
I've not been able to make a game in years now but taking to a few friends over the past week definitely going to try get to a few if I can this season and watch it live instead from a tv screen.
Getting quite excited at the thought of it actually. I might even upload a video or two on here of me giving it yaldy whilst I'm in the stand.
Then you all be like bloody hell, stig ?.

People always resort to the familiar though don't they. so he was the only manager who we have had who has managed to regularly beat Celtic and he won the only top league title since 2012. so despite all his lack of success elsewhere could he manage it again. Not a sales pitch for him as I am all for not going back but can actually understand why some want to resort back to a familiar face.
26 Apr 2025 11:18:56
Unfortunately Angus if we resort to that FAMILIAR face we will just end up with the same FAMILIAR results? - no going back please -theres no point beating Celtic regularly and not winning the league - fresh blood required down Ibrox way imho ?.

I don't want him back but let's not slate the guy lads. He steadied ship, stopped 10 in a row and got us some memorable European results, we punched above our weight in the Europa league. We all loved him at the time. Give the guy a bit respect. As I said I don't want him back but slagging him off or slagging off others fans for wanting him back is too much. Lack of class.
26 Apr 2025 12:30:12
Some have very short memories Shakeypeg and can't help themselves mate ☹️I thank steven gerrard for his time as our manager ????.
26 Apr 2025 12:30:47
I agree with you Shakey, don't want him back one bit, but he is the only manager who has won us a title since the late great Walter Smith.
He also laid a foundation for us to be the best we have been in European competition in my lifetime. Without his time I really don't see us sitting at 25th in current Euro coefficient rankings. That is an incredible achievement for us and he deserves credit for that along with stopping Celtic getting their holy trail.
26 Apr 2025 12:31:47
Gerrard not for me, although he got 55 was relatively unsuccessful, jumped ship as soon as villa came calling less than a week after the "do I look happy" comment
It's looking like a new era so it time to look forward, forget the sentiment of 55 and build the foundations for success in the years to come. Edin Terzic is the man I'd like to see as our new manager or Kjetil Knutson. It's a massive appointment.
26 Apr 2025 12:40:58
SS i agree with be grateful for 55 I have always stated that.
New owners new manager look forward not backwards
If he stayed there was no danger he was winning the league that season as ange and Celtic went on a great run that no team would have kept up with.
26 Apr 2025 12:41:56
Shakeypeg the way SG left lacked class.
26 Apr 2025 13:12:48
If he was successful again and an epl club came in for him he would be off, his dream is the Liverpool job but he's not getting that without some success in that league. Thanks for the memories but it's a new chapter in the history of our club.
26 Apr 2025 13:19:36
I'm not saying bring Gerrard back, but to say he failed is utter nonsense and I'm not delusional. It took him a couple of years but he won the league, don't forget the quality of the player he inherited and the squad he had to rebuild with a lesser budget than the team that had been dominating in Scotland for 9 years, that season we were unbeaten and won by around 25 points. He started us winning OF games again.
He also began the process of rebuilding our reputation and earning valuable cash in Europe these were what he had been tasked by Dave King in achieving.
Would we have like a couple of cups along the way, sure, but no-one was complaining at the time . the league was the Holy Grail . Stop the 10, win 55 in our 125th commemorative year. He left us 5 points clear in the league and another OF win under his belt.
Failure? I wish to god GVB, Beale and Clement failed the same way. If they had won the league and no cups I would have been quite happy .
26 Apr 2025 14:06:54
Storm, you'll need a doctor pronto, if steven gerrard becomes our manager again ?.
26 Apr 2025 14:39:20
Storm, Stevie g. won the most important title since 9iar and practically built the team that got to a UEFA final. Was he a big success? no, but he wasn't a failure either or have you forgot the mess he inherited? Don't forget under him we also started to get good results in Europe as well.
26 Apr 2025 14:44:24
Wsl one trophy in nine is failure to say it's anything other than that is delusional.
