Some interest in Dujon Sterling from down south. Wages seem to be a sticking point.

12 Aug 2026 09:40:36
You'd have to be daft to sign him, decent player, but we're counting down the days until he's injured again, unfortunately.

12 Aug 2026 09:50:41
I would let him leave for free if it meant the buying club took over his wages for the year.

This would give us the space to sign a new right back.

He won't be allowed to leave til we've signed a new left back anyway.

Good info, TrueBlue, it's a total package issue.

Wages, agent fees, signing fee, and our sale price.

All tallied up vs his matchday availability is the issue here.

From what I'm hearing today, he is moving closer to leaving than staying.

12 Aug 2026 10:06:39
A boy that can't play 2 games a week - we're the only club stupid enough to sign that.

12 Aug 2026 10:31:54
That's ridiculously harsh, Sir Struth. We took a punt on him when he was young, and when he does play, he does okay. His time on the injury list, though, does mean we can't rely on him, though, but saying we are "stupid" for signing him is ridiculous.

12 Aug 2026 10:43:15
Think the issue, Do The Bouncy, is he takes home £20k per week, and never available.

12 Aug 2026 10:43:34
I think he could be a good player up to good Championship level where his wages would presumably be less of a drag on things. I think the time has come for him to move on (for little to no fee to be honest), and for us to look ahead.

12 Aug 2026 10:47:17
SirStruth, that just isn't true, though. You must mean three games in a week. He played Sunday and Thursday. He clearly wasn't fit enough for the next game on the Sunday.

12 Aug 2026 10:56:05
It's a real shame, because if he stayed fit & was more reliable, fitness wise, he would be one hell of a good player, sadly just not reliable enough esp for the wages he's on.

12 Aug 2026 11:26:33
Nuts to let him go before we sign a new rb.

12 Aug 2026 12:10:01
My star, no Rangers player plays three games a week. A week consists of seven days, not.

12 Aug 2026 12:31:08
We took a punt on a player who had a bad record with injury and medical issues before we signed him, probably thinking we would have no chance of getting a player of his abilities if that was not the case.

We forgot the golden rule that the most important ability is availability, it doesn't matter how good you are if you are not playing. At £20k a week, he was a massive gamble and it failed.

12 Aug 2026 12:35:05
Again, "never" available is hyperbole - he played twice inside a week but was deemed not fit for a third game, in other words, he played in 67% of the games in the last ten days. Hardly "never" available then!

12 Aug 2026 12:43:47
And played 30% of games since signed two years ago, whilst pocketing one million a year.

12 Aug 2026 12:55:29
That's what happens when you give out outrageous wages to people that don't deserve it. He is vastly overrated by our fans also.

12 Aug 2026 13:06:40
John, the 3 games a week is basically saying a cup game in the middle. Could be 8 days, could be 9.

But that's the point, we need players who are reliable to be able to stand up to it!

12 Aug 2026 13:12:05
Correct, Storm, least new owners more realistic with salaries we pay.

12 Aug 2026 13:12:16
John, but the poster said he wasn't fit enough for 2 games in a week, when he actually just played 2 games in 4 days. Get my point?

12 Aug 2026 13:23:04
I agree with Stevie G new and I'd let him go on a free. His fitness is the obvious reason, but his performances at right back last season were awful. We need fitness as a prerequisite going forward and Mciness knows that. That's why we took Godfrey this year and didn't repeat glaringly obvious mistakes of the past.

12 Aug 2026 13:30:56
Thanks, John.

Check out Sterling's stats, only one season in his professional career has he played more than 25 games.

15 and then 14 appearances in his last 2.

Buying clubs will use these stats to project what they are willing to spend.

12 Aug 2026 13:45:51
Time to move him on, by any means necessary. When fit, he does well, but there lies the problem. But then again, do I trust the current recruitment team to bring someone in to replace him.

12 Aug 2026 14:04:23
My star, totally gets that, but he never plays three in a week.

Your post, imo, AR, makes it clear why he should never have been signed by Rangers.
