We've had the same issues and problems for years in not being good enough to break teams down enough.
I said in here yesterday, still a month of the window left, so a lot can change.
In truth, though, still only having 1 LB and not a single wide player you trust to do a job is a shocker.
The league has started.
I know we're not going to sign a superstar player, but at some point the club needs to invest in some real quality and game changers.
We need wide players and creativity, and if we don't get it, we're in for a rough season ahead.

Everyone's missing the point. If United don't score, we win. Fernandez goes for a 50 50 ball and doesn't win it, Rose goes down and the ball goes out the wing. Rose gets up, races by Fernandez and scores. Fernandez nowhere. We could have lost another one.
Ball gets lost at the halfway line, United boy standing in middle of park totally alone, Fernandez standing, ball watching, Robbens missing. United boy makes a mess of it or it's another defeat, same as all last year. The Defence needs sorted out fast, not another winger.

McInnes was probs given assurances that signings had been pinpointed and we were targeting getting 'back to the top of Scottish football'. He is finding reality is not what was promised (not the first Rangers manager to be in this position!)

On Gogic I agree he is not what we should be after for a starting player but we need depth and we have had players like that in the past that have served us very well.
Just look at the pickle we likely find ourselves in for Europe with our defence.
Our defence picks itself just now as we don't have anyone else.
McInnes mentioned another player in before the United game and we still don't have one a couple of days later again.
It does sound like the recruitment team are struggling for whatever reason

Maswanhise is yet another player with 1 good season in Scotland but is "proven", he's another that fell off the wagon after January & teams marked him tighter and were more physical with him. He also doesn't want to stay in Scotland & wants a move down to England.
McInnes seems to be immune to criticism. His teams had never been creative, and this is exactly how he plays football.
The players were awful, but his tactics were awful too. If he doesn't like targets being suggested, then maybe he's the problem, because I doubt any of his suggestions are brilliant, since he only buys his ex-players. Remember Russell Martin pulled the same last year, and look what happened. You need both working together, and I'd suggest other than Drago & Neil, he got the players he wanted.

Having someone who is left-footed coming off the right is very important for tactical reasons. This is why clubs target players specifically like this. We're not looking for an old fashioned winger, but an inverted winger. Someone who can cut inside, onto their stronger foot, and have a shot at goal.
When the inverted wingers cut inside the full-backs follow them into the middle of the pitch. This leaves space on the outside for the full-backs to overlap. For example, if Rommens has no space to run into because the left-winger is too close to the line, how can Rommens get forward? How can an overload be created?
The 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 dominate for a reason.
They allow for 3 man midfields, inverted wingers, overlapping full-backs, etc. This is modern football.
Maswanhise is right-footed and plays his best football from the left-wing. You could stick him on the right, but he's not as good there. Neither is Moore. In fact, very few wingers are equally as good from both sides. The club will be prioritising a left-winger and he'll be left-footed.

If McInnes is now unhappy about the lack of signings coming in, I would like to ask, was he happy with the average players we have brought in? We know Shankland and Devlin are his favourites, but did we really need Devlin if we were signing Neil and Dragojevic? Does McCrorie really have the qualities a Rangers right back needs? Does Godfrey's last two seasons indicate that he is the stable, experienced central defender we need? Should we not have gone for another experienced centre back rather than a risky signing from the MLS? He should also be asked about how we got into the situation that we had nobody he trusted to play on the right wing.
He has built the squad the way it is, it's a bit late to moan about it if that's what he's doing.

Jasper, I for one do not have vast scouting networks at my disposal and it is not my job to bring names forward. What I can do though is have an opinion on a player, Gogic, that I have watched for over a decade in the lower reaches of our division and come to the conclusion that I do not think he would be good enough to make him a worthwhile signing.
Same as others possibly think he would be, just an opinion.
