So far, heard a few different rumours about Rohl's position and the stance of the owners.
Heard another one today on site.
Game of bluff between both parties.
Rohl wants to return home and may be in demand elsewhere.
Owners aren't over the moon with the current situation but would let him go to another club if he asks to go.
Where it gets tricky is that the owners don't want to sack him this early in his tenure and are willing to let him go for the compensation from any interested clubs in his service.
Rohl done similar in his second season at Wednesday. Doubts over his tenure, came back late for pre-season and left by mutual consent 2 weeks later.
It's a case of who's got the best poker face.
Take all of this with a pinch of salt if you so wish.

A good post, Mrph.
14 May 2026 14:06:52
Nothing would surprise me, Mrph.
John, reading that, you have said good post.
Is this along the lines of what you have heard?
14 May 2026 14:11:07
Yes, it is Peter.
14 May 2026 14:13:29
Let's call it by mutual consent and just agree to cut ties, no money, parting ways either way.
14 May 2026 14:17:43
So, in all likelihood,
We're looking for a new manager at some point soon either way.
Let's hope they're already looking for an interested party.
The merry go round continues. ?
14 May 2026 14:24:45
Totally different situation from Sheffield Wed as they were in a mess financially. Can see them not wanting to sack him but hoping someone wants him instead.
14 May 2026 14:30:10
If he looks to be leaving for a club in Germany, surely it makes sense not to sack him, and we can get a compensation fee for him.
14 May 2026 14:36:18
So, John, I take your thinking regarding your info is that there's a very good chance we'll be looking for a new manager again after our last game against Falkirk on Saturday, mate. ? If Rohl is indeed not happy and wanting to go back to Germany, whether he's currently got a club to go to at this minute is neither here nor there, because if his heart isn't in our job, he has to be replaced as soon as we can after Saturday's game. ?
14 May 2026 14:39:33
If this is the case, I would assume that Rangers don't want to sack him, as it doesn't look good when trying to tempt a new manager, for the fact that you would have already had two managers within a season and sacked them.
14 May 2026 14:41:39
He goes after this weekend. ?
14 May 2026 14:44:37
Scottish clubs are always willing to let their manager and coaches go. This is especially true when they are successful. It happened with Rodgers, Ange, and Gerrard. EPL clubs come along, pay large compensation packages, and the staff move on. Danny Rohl is not unique in that, if a major club comes along and offers a large compensation package, he will be off too.
The only thing left to unpack from your original post is outside interest. Is there outside interest from a club big enough to pay the required compensation fees?
14 May 2026 14:55:37
Can't be true as Sws said he was staying on numerous occasions. ? Also, posters on here said, cause Rohl said he was staying and so on, that it was gospel.
14 May 2026 14:59:47
Walter, we would not be running club properly if we did not constantly watch the market.
14 May 2026 15:06:27
No one is getting sacked. Rohl may go, but compensation will be paid. If no interest, he continues until there is. It would be crazy not to prepare for any eventuality.
14 May 2026 15:19:29
As I said before, Tav stuff smacks of a manager trying to engineer his own sacking. Wonder if players have got wind of his intentions to leave while on Spain trip. Would explain the drop off too.
14 May 2026 15:24:28
I think it all depends on Wolfsburg's relegation play off. If they survive, he will be appointed head coach.
14 May 2026 15:39:59
Sws, only 2 days ago you asking people what they didn't understand about Rohl is 100% staying.
14 May 2026 15:43:38
Dr is not homesick and is not looking to leave for 'family' reasons.
He is a very strategic and focussed individual who has a career plan that would result in him moving cities / countries every 2-3 years (at best), hence he and his family agreed they would remain in Germany as opposed to facing the continued upheaval.
I have personally spoken to him on this subject - as I was struggling to adapt to being apart from my own family for large periods of time.
He does have a commitment to his family to return to Germany within a certain period of time, although I'm afraid he didn't divulge the specific date.
14 May 2026 15:59:01
Whatever the outcome, we need to resolve it asap before pre season starts.
14 May 2026 16:05:20
Good info Ehl.
14 May 2026 16:12:24
Thanks for the update, Ehl.
I hope he managed to help you adjust, and you're doing much better on that issue, bud.
14 May 2026 16:22:18
Good post. Hey Stig, we might need to start writing those lengthy managerial posts again if he does indeed go. Nothing surprises me with our club anymore.
14 May 2026 16:24:24
He didn't actually BBJ - as he crushed my plan of setting up as an out of club performance coach as he was against allowing access to players whilst he was Head Coach - lol, so hope he gets sacked!
14 May 2026 16:25:19
Wee question.
Would Emdy fancy giving the Well manager a go. ?
14 May 2026 16:26:07
Seems insane we'd be holding out for compensation. He's an awful manager. If he wants to go, just agree mutual termination and let him walk.
14 May 2026 16:39:51
If true, how likely is it AC will let Rohl have a big say with incoming transfers?
And if Rohl is forced to work with targets he had no part in recruiting, how much more likely is it we'll be looking for a new gaffer part way through next season?
If the man isn't committed, he needs to leave and give us a chance at a replacement before next season.
If he is 100% all in, I'd want to give him full season and say on who comes in.
14 May 2026 16:41:01
Damn Ehl, that sucks. Well, now I have another reason for wanting him removed. Bye bye, Danny!
14 May 2026 17:59:06
I'm not a body language expert, however, there's something not right with Rohl. Seems to be going through the motions if you ask me. More enthusiasm in a sloth.
14 May 2026 18:16:16
Bluedreamer, yes, really enjoy his football and what's he doing with far better quality.
14 May 2026 18:32:34
All of this just reeks of yet another disaster. Targets will have been identified by DR, so if he goes, we are right back at the same point before start of this season... No manager & possibility a new manager won't want them, or get lumbered with them, & a team full of players that need rid of... Dejavu anyone. ??♂️
14 May 2026 19:04:04
Targets would've been identified by Stig and the recruitment team. Rarely does a head coach have full authority to pick their players nowadays.
14 May 2026 19:27:14
After what Tav has said, it looks like Rohl is a bare-faced liar. The amount of players in the squad that have liked Tav's post would suggest they back Tav and not Rohl, and, if so, Rohl has lost the dressing room.
14 May 2026 20:20:52
I think if you've lost the dressing room and the fans in one full swoop, then it's time to go. Please please please just bring in a manager that will chuck hairdryers and scream at players to drill into them. Rangers FC is a club that wins, not meanders through the season!
14 May 2026 21:47:54
That's exactly what we need, Gersgirl. Ranting and raving and kicking over stuff on the touchline. Cannot beat it. ?
14 May 2026 22:26:49
Watching and listening to Rohl recently, I think there is a selfish and ruthless streak in him.
I think he has handled the Tav situation poorly and he is not even the genius coach that he and EHL think he is.
I would say his poor man management and leadership skills have been exposed.
I am old school, I don't care how many coaching qualifications and courses you have been on. It doesn't matter at a club like Rangers, it is all about being a respected figurehead who exudes authority and really understands how to lead from the front and manage men properly and have their full respect.
I would say Rohl is so lacking in these personal qualities. I feel football is just like any other walk of life, you cannot learn man management skills from courses or books, it is something you either possess naturally or you don't.
Rohl has shown he is lacking in these qualities and both fans and players can see right through him. For me he looks like he should always be a coaching assistant and leave serious management to those with the required personal qualities.
EHL, with your deep knowledge of all aspects of football, I would say the most on this site, what are your views on my observations?
14 May 2026 22:33:38
So, even if he stays, he already has plans to leave in 2 years or so, hardly a committed manager then. Get rid as soon as possible.
14 May 2026 23:30:52
Once a Ranger, I would say your observations are, in all honestly, completely Bs.
That's based on the fact that you claim I think Rohl is a tactical genius, which is something you've made up and posted in some weird attempt to cast shade on a fellow poster and fan.
Kinda sad really.
