StevieGNew, it is my understanding that no director of football will be appointed prior to the end of the season.
I know a few who have been spoken to about the role but the club is in no rush to announce anything.
15 Mar 2026 20:14:16
My understanding as well Alph. Looking at Stig for summer.
15 Mar 2026 20:19:55
Yes, John, I think he deserves the role if he wants it.
15 Mar 2026 20:26:31
Similar info, I think it's just waiting to see if he wants to continue.
15 Mar 2026 22:20:10
Aphe, thanks mate. I wondered why there had been no news on the situation.
There's nothing coming out about anyone being interviewed and nothing about Stig staying.
15 Mar 2026 22:28:16
Stevie, I said a name of one who I know has been spoken to by the club, but I do believe Stig has earned the right to choose whether to stay or not.
15 Mar 2026 22:38:29
I don't blame Stig one bit for Olsen not being a success. If he had anything to do with Chuck, Naderi, and Rommens, then fair enough.
However, I hope he has knowledge about markets outwith Northern Europe. Nils Koppen seemed to have a few tricks up his sleeve, and we have a habit of throwing the baby out with the bathwater at our club in recent years.
I'm not happy with too much chopping and changing. Simply put, if we kept Clement, we would be 25/26 champions.
15 Mar 2026 22:49:58
Why does he deserve the role exactly?
For having a 50% success rate in signings?
16 Mar 2026 01:08:53
50% success rate WATP? How long do these four players signed in January get, like? By the way, a 50% success rate is far better than you must be thinking.
16 Mar 2026 05:05:59
He simply couldn't survive after the Queens Park and horrible league results.
16 Mar 2026 07:21:19
Do people honestly think that Naderi has been a success so far? He looks way off it to me.
16 Mar 2026 07:41:44
Rostosto, I agree, and 1 terrible result and some poor form won't be why we get rid of managers in future, I hope.
btw, 40% success is the norm in football for transfer success, so if he is at 50% he is ahead of the curve. Having said that, at most clubs players get more than a handful of games to prove themselves.
16 Mar 2026 07:56:03
Rangers Da, Naderi against St Mirren was brilliant. You're clearly thinking of him being a striker and goal ratio. Naderi was all over the park yesterday, defending, making tackles and starting attacks. Yes, his goal ratio needs improving, but what an industrial, hard-working player we have.
16 Mar 2026 08:08:13
Naderi is not what we needed. All this crap about "working hard". I'd work hard for £20K+ a week!
What we need is a goalscorer, not a work horse. Chermiti has scored in 5 games this season and Miovski has been poor. Like Naderi, he has no pace either!
16 Mar 2026 08:08:54
PC blinkers are back out again. 1 poor result and a bit of poor form? He was setting records for bad runs of results. That then culminated in one of the worst, if not the worst, results in our history. Please move on, guys. We even had guys on live chat trying to say Beale wasn't that bad, too.
16 Mar 2026 08:18:42
Naderi has more than work rate, his touch in tight situations is great, and he is quicker than some are suggesting. Give the boy a break, it's not as if we are setting him up ten times a game.
16 Mar 2026 08:19:25
Clement is doing a great job at Norwich and got a raw deal at Ibrox.
16 Mar 2026 08:26:00
The signings need time. I'm unsure about Naderi, but we may need to wait till next season to see the best of him.
16 Mar 2026 08:43:17
Yes, Aphe, I think he's earned the right to stay, mate.
16 Mar 2026 09:11:50
Angus, my star 100%.
WATP, my rationale for saying he deserves the role is nothing to do with transfers.
My rationale comes from a deeper knowledge of the situation and a better understanding of the role that he is currently performing.
16 Mar 2026 10:01:28
Aphe, would I be right in saying he would oversee transfer activity, but all the day-to-day and scouting would be handled by others? Is Purdy still that man? Same with all the other elements of a DoF; he puts the plans and structures in place for others to follow. Might be miles off the mark, as I've never worked for a football club before.
16 Mar 2026 10:22:03
In terms of transfers, you are correct, Angus, although that is only a small part of his role.
His role as consultant and advisor to Andrew Cavanagh has a wide-ranging scope, including but not limited to:
Putting structures in place that drastically improve interdepartmental efficiency.
Developing strategies in regards to areas of focus, with the aim of having a better success rate for talent.
Developing and harnessing relationships with other clubs and agencies to give us a strategic advantage over our rivals.
Identifying potential partnership opportunities with clubs in prime strategic areas, offering player pathways.
His role has many responsibilities, but these are the ones I have deemed the cornerstone areas.
16 Mar 2026 11:06:43
The signings need time?
Olsen was brought in to win us trophies. So far he looks like a League 2 player, and absolutely nothing should be spent on him in the summer.
Naderi runs about. Good for him. For 5m quid, you'd expect him to run.
16 Mar 2026 11:50:08
WATP, how do you know the objectives and expectations set for each individual player?
I certainly was not under the impression that the sole metric of judgement would be trophies.
But what if we win the league?
They have both completed that objective then, as they have given us options we did not have.
16 Mar 2026 12:04:49
We were all expecting better from Olsen, but he's only been in a couple of months. Hopefully he performs better in the remaining games. Naderi is still young, but you can see he has many positives in his game right now, but a couple of goals are needed.
Be better waiting until next season before judging him. Like the majority of Rangers players, if they don't perform straight away, they're useless.
16 Mar 2026 12:48:15
The groundwork for Rommens and Chuckuwani's signing was done under Thelwell in the summer.
Naderi was a Rohl signing.
16 Mar 2026 12:49:55
Not going to argue about ASO's talent, but if we thought he was going to need time to get up to speed, I wonder why we signed him in January. An experienced Danish international and potentially an £8 million signing, I think we have the right to be looking to him for an immediate impact. Maybe not ripping up the league, but certainly much better than he has shown.
Rommens and Chukwuani have come in and made an immediate impact, so why can't he? We have no obvious candidate for the right side of attack, so he needs to get his finger out and start producing. To be fair, he's not the only one, the front 4 yesterday were rotten.
16 Mar 2026 12:59:44
Wsl, it is not too difficult to understand.
We decided to accelerate the signing in January, due to the opportunity presenting itself for us to secure the player now.
This negated the guarantee of competition for his signing in the summer.
We knew that we signed a player who has had no football for 3 months prior to signing.
16 Mar 2026 13:01:15
We signed him in January on loan to see if he's worth the fee in the summer. Lad hardly played in 18 months, and still managed 3 goal involvements, nowhere near form. If he finds the form, great. If he doesn't, we don't sign him.
16 Mar 2026 13:35:59
Aphe, I agree. We know, as well, that it takes time to settle, so get him in January and he will be ready to show his worth next season after a full pre-season. That is, unless they aren't giving out trophies next season, so pointless having him.
?
I think we will buy him even if the fans don't think he has performed in the 7 matches so far.
16 Mar 2026 14:22:32
Angus, I think you are correct in both your assessment and predictions, my friend.
We would not have entered into a provisional contractual agreement if we were planning on ending it based on trophies.
16 Mar 2026 15:36:41
I was delighted to begin with, but glad it's only a loan with option. Sometimes players just don't suit for whatever reason, pressure, style of football, etc. He may be great in other teams or systems, but isn't fitting here. And he has form for struggling to adapt at previous clubs.
If u treat it like a 6 month trial, then u wouldn't be thinking of making it a permanent deal based on anything he's shown so far. Better to be able to back out now than become another expensive mistake.
16 Mar 2026 16:06:58
Aphelion, watching him play, I don't see why we were worried about competition for his signature, because if he had stayed at Wolfsburg and played like that, the fee would drop and there wouldn't be a queue for his signature.
Rabbie Burns, except if he plays every week and doesn't find his form, it could cost us the title, that's a bit of a gamble.
Granted, it was a great ball for Chermiti's header v Hearts, but you could argue that his cross for Chermiti's wonder goal was actually behind him, hence why he needed the spectacular overhead kick. That will draw some comments, I'm sure.
16 Mar 2026 16:26:49
WSL I can only explain strategy a certain amount of times.
I have spoken at length about this specific transfer from before it became official.
16 Mar 2026 16:49:28
I wonder if Olsen will have any other options after the summer??? I very much doubt it, and Wolfsburg want rid asap.
16 Mar 2026 17:22:48
Aphe, if you're really going to try and tell me a 5m striker and a loan player of the reputation of Olsen weren't brought in to win us the league, don't.
Naderi might come good eventually. But eventually isn't what was needed in January.
Experience was.
The lack of nouse and grey hair in this team is beyond alarming.
Apart from Tavernier and Souttar, who should both be shipped out, do we have any current starters over the age of 28? I can't think of any. I could be mistaken.
16 Mar 2026 17:54:01
Had not played football for 3 months. Well, it's mid Mar. Why is he not up to speed yet? Still zero improvement in anything from his 1st game.
