Danilo has agreed to join NEC on a straight loan.

And into post mate he's away to take his medical as we speak.
29 Jan 2026 14:47:33
Disappointing. He will be back in summer and will struggle to get rid again.
29 Jan 2026 14:56:45
Disappointing, would have preferred a sale but if no one bids then not much we can do. Looks he will follow the path of Dowell, Davies, Matondo etc where only loans until OOC or released on a free. Doubt we will get any transfer fee for him now.

Let's hope he gets fit and firing again and puts himself in the window or comes back ready to play a proper part.
29 Jan 2026 15:22:19
Hopefully with a run of games in Holland Danilo will find some confidence and form and we can sell him in the summer window. Albeit at a fraction of the fee we paid for him.
29 Jan 2026 15:22:28
This is a good move for him. He won the Dutch title last time he played in that league, and could easily shine again. Look at how well Lammers did when he went back to Holland, and how eager Twente were to make that move permanent.
If Danilo has a standout few months in that league maybe a few clubs become interested. Maybe his value goes up again. The bottom line is, that guy needs to be playing regular football if he is ever going to find his fitness and form again. It is a chance to put himself in the shop window.

bit of a Catch 22 with him. He needs game time to get back fit and firing and put himself in the shop window. Hopefully this gives him that game time. He's still contracted till 2028, and only 26, so I'm not against him returning to use next season - but I think ideally he could find a club where he'll get first team football.
A good 1/2 season in holland might help him do that.

IMO the only difference between a loan and a loan with option is that we have agreed the price with the club at the start. if he goes and plays well they might want to sign him (or another club might) and then we discuss the fee.
If he is still here and not playing then no-one sees him playing. we aren't any worse off than we were at the start; in fact we are probably financially better off as at least they pay some of his wages.
29 Jan 2026 15:46:14
If it frees up the wages to bring in a replacement then great. Can't really fault Danilo for his attitude or professionalism but the injuries ruined his time at Rangers and it's best he finds a club he can play week in week out.
29 Jan 2026 15:47:58
Hopefully he goes gets fit and confidence as there is definitely a player in him.
29 Jan 2026 15:49:51
I read it was a loan to buy.
29 Jan 2026 16:16:08
True angus.
29 Jan 2026 16:35:18
Joke if straight loan. Need rid if these boys altogether.
29 Jan 2026 16:42:11
I really like Danilo and think he'd be great with a strike partner. Could see how good a player he was prior to his injuries so I hope he goes there, gets loads of game time, scores loads of goals and comes back to us with a point to prove.
29 Jan 2026 16:44:30
A straight loan is better for us.
29 Jan 2026 17:03:23
No option is better IMO. If he starts banging in the goals as he did before in that league he could be worth a lot more than this rumoured £2m. Scottish football might be too physical for Danilo, but that lad can play.
Danilo looks like a better player than Miovski to me. Miovski has been shocking since he came here.

Hope he kicks on in the Eredivise he has won back to back titles witj Ajax then Feyenoord prior to joining us plus his loan spell with fc twente was good 1st half of that season when him Cerny and Menig lead the attack and were good together ( all ex Jong Ajax) Danilo, cerny, doekhi were all in the same sides at jong ajax, can see a bigger dutch club like Ajax or Feyennord picking up a bargain if he can regain pre injury form, Danilo is not to weak for our league he played against and scored far defences in the eredivisie than we have in our league, the dutch league is a higher calibre than ours always has been.
Danilo was simply unluck to get his face smashed while scoring a goal and returning to 1st team and a very unfotunate serious longterm injury that has ruined better strikers than him, Rosethal, Mols spring to mind, the lad is at no fault for any of that, his form leading upto us signing him was excellent he was scoring consistently pre injuries, wish him well in the dutch premier he deserves a chance to shine again
He has the talent to do just that, in a league far better than ours.
