I spoke with a good friend and great Rangers man yesterday who told me the following about our January window.
Rothwell is the only player definitely leaving us. Cameron and Curtis both to be loaned out. He has heard there will be 3 incoming players a LB, No6 and a No10 ?.

I hope that in addition to that we are getting a striker in, because if we don't we would be as well not to bother. Its obvious game after game what the big issue is, in that team, and is backed up by the GD in the league. If we don't sign a goalscorer we are currently as good as its going to get, third.

See if was up to me on who should comes to Rangers I reckon we should be looking at Elliot Watt the Motherwell DM I think he's half decent and also the n.10 David Watson fae Killie both good enough to play for Rangers in my opinion.

wsl it may be obvious but our midfield and wingers take more shots than our strikers and miss more of them. so perhaps a creative no 6 and 10 are what we need to give our strikers more and better chances. so:
Gassama 39 shots/12 on target/1 goal/shot conversion 2.1%
Moore 17 shots/7 on target/2 goals/11.8% shot conversion
Raskin 21 shots/4 on target/1 goal/4.8% shot conversion
Diomande 17 shots/4 on target/1 goal/5.9% shot conversion
Aasgaard 21 shots/ 10 on target/ 2 goals/ 9.5% shot conversion
as opposed to strikers
Miovski 18 shots/ 9 on target/ 3 goals/ shot conversion 16.7%
Chermiti 18 shots/10 on target/ 2 goals/ 11.1 % shot conversion
so we need our wingers and midfield to hit the target more often and perhaps increase the number of chances our strikers get as they convert a greater percentage when they get them. all in all none are brilliant though.

I'd be sick if it was Josh Windass. Would rather push the boat out and try for Aribo or even Arfield if we're looking for a number 10 that's played for us before.

Rangers man I also thing watt is a very very good player mate. Think he had captains armband on the other day for them too.
I think he looks more a box to box mf than a defensive but maybe that's just the times I've seen him. Similar to Barron for me mate.
This is a type that I feel we could be signing and letting stay with his club to then bring to us or sell in the future. He looks a good player for me though.

I'll play devil's advocate, I personally think if you create more chances for Miovski and Chermiti they will score goals.
Unless the striker we would bring in is a Igamane type where he's capable of pulling goals out of nothing then Shankland/Dessers/Bowie all struggle in this side.

so I hear there is a lad currently playing in Greece who is guaranteed to score goals in this league. Lad by name of Cyriel Dessers who is guaranteed to score 20-25 each season and 1 goal every 3 games this season.
might not win us the league as we need to have more than strikers scoring. we don't let in many now though so we don't need to up our score rate too much. ??.

George if only scott arfield was a good even just 5 years younger i'd absolutely have him before windass and aribo because he's better than both imo as an attacking midfielder just look at the goals tally from him ?I always rated and liked arf ???.

George have a word with yourself please. Arfield who couldn't get a game for Falkirk and was released? We'd be better off not even trying anymore. I'd love Aribo back but we'd not be getting the one who left and he's only play 111 minutes this season, at least Windass is playing and scoring. Getting Aribo isn't exactly "pushing the boat out" either.

It is all well and good if you've got a big squad that makes players compete for places and raise their games in order to be picked, but we've got too many collecting a wage and not evidently pressing for their place. See when young Curtis comes on, he always plays like he is playing to get picked, it would be a shame to lose him on loan unless it is going to progress him as a player.
As for Dowell and co, I just don't see that from them and the lack of reserve football just means they collecting a wage fer nothing.

Windass maybe not the man for going forward over the next few seasons but he walks into this team and our goal tally will def go up and would give us a better chance of winning silverware this season, agree with star the people shouting him down cannot of been watching him the last few seasons.

Not inspired with those 3 at all. We needplayers who are seasoned at a good leveln have some spirit in them. Dahl is young so not downing him early n we've seen windass up close. Very average player. Penrice, juries out, nothing spectacular is he.
I'd like someone in the mould of papac for the lb slot. Defenders need to be able to do their primary job first n foremost n that's something we've lacked on the back wings for years.

I think those that would be happy with Windass have low standards and expectations. I, like most, have saw first hand what it takes to be a successful Rangers side over the last few decades and why I have been very vocal over the last few years because I knew with the Managers we were appointing and players we were signing that we would never be good enough and that's why I know that Windass will never be good enough.

Club now I realise. so in the last few decades which I take means the Murray years where we spent more money than we had and it caused us to go bust. hard to say that as a fan and also realise that those days are now gone and we have to cut our cloth accordingly. that doesn't mean Windass but it does mean we need to buy sensibly and develop what we have bought.
too many think we can buy and if they don't work initially then we just buy more and replace them. that leads us down the same over-spending route we took before we went bust.
so whilst I don't agree with the players we are being linked with they are more financially prudent and is the way perhaps initially we need to go.

Angus 1812, you can stat me all you want but, Miovski 4 domestic goals, Chermiti 2 domestic goals and Danilo 2 domestic goals, says it all. Half way stage in the league near enough and our strikers have 7 goals between them in the league (one of Miovskis was in the cup).
Shankland has scored more than the three of them put together. Also it should be noted that none of the three offer much in the build up play either.

Look many a foreigner we bought in we thought would do something, not having a pop with the usual better with the British based rhetoric but Windass to me seems like a solid solution to this particular issue, breaking lines, getting goals.

wsl and yet we are 6 off the top and 3 off second. and that is after the disaster of Martin which had is as low as 11th and I think 8th when he left. it doesn't matter where goals come from. we moaned when we had a striker who scored and the issue was the same then: that we didn't score enough from elsewhere. at least Rohl has got us defending as a team
btw I don give a monkeys backside about Shankland and if he scores the goals which win the league for Hearts then congratulations to both. having said that his conversion rate is around 18% (Miovski is 16+%) so we just need to create more chances for our strikers to improve that.

The club are pushing on 6 singing as Aphe said. The manager has asked the club to be brave and they are responding to his wish/suggestion. He still genuinely believes we can win the league according to all the meetings. ;)
