I'm just after reading about our quality centre half olwethu makhanya and how good he was in both South Africa's games, in which he started πIn one of the games makhanya was up against the classy Dortmund forward guirassy and dealt with him with ease π What a player we have in our hands guys ππ¬π§.

I know we have heard this plenty of times in previous seasons but I don't say this lightly. He's a proper quality player SirWalter, he will make us a tidy profit. I just hope we can keep him for next season for a crack at Europe.

Couple of interesting facts about The Tower, that just go to show how easily things can change in football.
Makhanya was brought to our attention early on in the Clement era and he was one of the top 3 centre backs proposed to Russell Martin when he took over, however he didn't fit Martins Profile and we opted to sign Fernandez instead.
He was Rohl's top pick and we were very nearly spooked in to making a move for him in January, as he was very close to joining a French side, however it fell through and thankfully McInnes didn't hesitate to authorise the move.
What could have been if we signed him under Martin or Rohl???

I see also fellow bears that we're allegedly very interested in makhanya's Philadelphia Union centre half partner Neil Pierre, who stands at an incredible 6' 7"π². He must be some player because he's regarded an even better prospect than our superb south african centre half olwethu makhanya π²π¬π§.

Sorry EHL I find it hard to believe that a player of Makhanya's quality was identified during that era given the amount of guff we bought during that era. Although it would be very fitting of those to pass on Makhanya and sign players like Propper etc. That's them to a tee.
02 Oct 2026 11:43:33
Propper wasn't our first target and many of our targets the manager turned down.

I find it really sad how much time and effort you spend trying to troll people Caldo.
I know have asked this before, and I want you to know that I'm being genuine when I ask it - but I hope you are okay.

Swso I was in a tiktok live with him 2 nights ago at half ine in the morning, after one of his games, him and another player possibly mofokeng, not exactly sure though. Had a nice chat with him for about 20mins, such a chilled big boy, seems very mature for his young age. Said he's absolutely loved his time at Rangers so far, he loves the pressure of playing for a club like ours.
He said there had been contact from Rangers a couple of times, was so happy to finally get it over the line. I asked him who he gets on best with, he said all the boys are really tight, but has a great relationship with big manny, nico is always up to no good π He also said the intensity in training is excellent, something that he wasn't used to, but really loves it.
I had to ask about the Old Firm obviously, he said he had watched re runs of the Dortmund game, thought wow, what a support, couldn't wait to play in that atmosphere, said he wasn't disappointed, the atmosphere was crazy, he remembered going in at half time thinking, what just happened out there, wow! Couldn't wait to get back out to it again.
He absolutely loved it, had dreams as a kid of playing in games like that. He did say he had to watch it back as it was a bit of a blur, because he was so laser focused. Wanted to ask him more but there was a few south Africans in the boxes asking about his national team performance as well so it was difficult to ask to many questions. One of the South Africans heard my Scottish accent and asked him who i was, he said, this is one of my people from my new home Glasgow Rangers π€£ what a guy.
A South African woman came in the box and he asked her whereabouts in s. a she was from, she told him a certain place, he said I remember they dragged me from my car and tried to rob me there, jeezo what a place.

We've got CBs who play for SA and Nigeria but according to the comedy page Trusty is in front of Makanya when it comes to the national teamπ₯΄, go and have a read ππ.

You've always got to remember the circumstances when discussing signings made or missed .We hear a lot about guys we missed out on that have gone on to do well and would now cost a fortune but most of the time since 2012 we just didn't have the money at the time we needed it . The signing of Propper was done as it was an easy one at the right price when we had just forced Goldson out the club and by all accounts paid him to go .
As for Makhanya , maybe we are lucky we missed out on him for a couple of years and that he is a more first team ready player now .Lets just enjoy him for as long as he's here ( or at least until his first mistake hahaha).

Boy blue, he sounds like a top bloke mate.
02 Oct 2026 14:05:41
Bb4 it sounds like it was u whom he was speaking to then when he sang simply the best mate.?
He was touching his crest(albeit South African) and saying my new home Glasgow Rangers then said Watp and sang simply the best , is that when u were speaking to him then maye as that's the video I saw.
02 Oct 2026 13:06:16
Del, quite a few of our players have said we were interested in them under previous managers such as Pandur said we spoke to him before Butland. We may have made wrong choices but many of these players have been on our radar for quite a while.
02 Oct 2026 13:07:11
Coops imo he's the best player to play for us in many many many years.
I am not doing a typical Stevie here when I say this lads going to the absolute top of the game , the very very top.
Reminds me so much of van dijk.
02 Oct 2026 13:53:19
seems to me as if we identify a number of choices for positions and for various reasons including manager choice we don't make the signing at the time. so perhaps worth remembering when we 'miss out' on our first choice that perhaps the other in the options aren't bad players or even worse than those we miss out on.
02 Oct 2026 13:55:02
He definitely is mystar. Some of the questions getting fired at him were really deep from the south Africans, how to deal with loss, how to trust, how to have more confidence in yourself, it was bizarre, the big man wasn't shying away from any of them, answering the best way he knew how to.
02 Oct 2026 14:39:37
I know they have Kaiser I'm not saying they weren't, its just hard to believe when you see the players that they did actually sign. You wouldn't think that they were actually looking at good players.
02 Oct 2026 15:21:47
Stevie I'm not sure mate, haven't seen that video, is it on tiktok?
02 Oct 2026 15:35:20
Boy blue, that's superb to hear that from your good self pal and how well makhanya spoke not only about Rangers, but in general ππ¬π§He is so razor focused and already a big fans favourite, thanks for sharing your conversation with him Boy blue, much appreciated my friend ππ¬π§.

I think Propper got a lot of flak when others were just as bad didn't tbh, I remember Souttar being just as bad if not worse at the time and Sterling didn't cover himself in glory either. Some players got injured a completely ruined them like Danilo, who got found form then got injured and never recovered and Cortes looked a player then others got ruined by the constant change of management like Dio, who each manager had play completely different.
02 Oct 2026 18:12:13
and just yesterday you were saying our signing and recruitment strategy had changed. but it obviously hadn't as these players were previously identified.
choosing the right time to sign an identified player is the skill I expect the club to show and feel they did and still do. I am not sure the players are rally better quality but the mentality in the whole club has changed since we cleared the decks is the feeling I get.
02 Oct 2026 18:42:35
Propper was awful . others were bad but not as bad as him.
02 Oct 2026 20:21:13
Sons of Struth, who said Trusty is ahead of Makhanya at international level? Is Trusty not a USA international. Obviously someone who automatically thinks any Celtic player is ahead of any Rangers player at international level. They even think Nico should have been behind Engels, yet look how that turned out.
02 Oct 2026 20:09:56
Bb4, it was instagram I saw the repost, but it was a video with writings down the sides and that like TikTok live would have mate.
02 Oct 2026 20:28:36
Love this type of post EHL! Highlights how hard the recruitment team work.
02 Oct 2026 20:29:19
Bb4, was pitch black at night and he had his training gear in or at least a training type t shirt.
02 Oct 2026 21:16:41
Agree Robbie. all of a sudden Buar is world class as he wins his first cap for Germany , brought on 2:0 up 77 minutes in the third game for the first time π€£.
02 Oct 2026 22:13:35
sorry. but he was given a cap for Germany. Take off the blinkers and see what an achievement that is for any player. Nico has had little game time for Belgium in this round of internationals but he is still a Belgian international and will play more again in future. stop being so petty.
03 Oct 2026 09:26:02
Only seen him a couple of times now Angus, but Klopp speaks highly of him, that's enough for me, hopefully he fails in our league though.
03 Oct 2026 11:24:51
Cheers for sharing EHL under Rohl would of been good under the vegan that could of destroyed the boy π.
03 Oct 2026 13:21:40
No stevie g, he was in a hotel room when I was speaking to him mate, must have been the same night though I'd imagine.
