Totally agree with Barry Ferguson's article in the media today when he states he's been impressed with makhanya, minsu kim, Kelsy so far, but reckons the Rangers player that's impressed him most is a player who's been here for a few years now in our right back Dujon Sterling. π Baz states in his opinion he's an absolute machine of a player and has been immense so far and long may it continue. π
I've said often he's the best right back in Scotland bar none and if he is now indeed over his injury issues, he's our no.1 right back without a doubt. ππ¬π§I for one am absolutely delighted McInnes had no intention of selling Sterling and i hope/think he'll get a new deal to extend his contract past 2028ππ¬π§.

Sws, I read the other day his contract is until 2028, mate, extended it last year, with him playing rb and not shifted around he's showing what he's all about, never been injured since his last operation, hopefully sorted out his troubles, not many players beats him in one to ones.
01 Oct 2026 16:08:25
Agree re all comments Sir Walter - but he is an obvious injury risk for us π€he need long sustained injury free run before commitment to a longer contract imo.
01 Oct 2026 16:08:35
If he stays fit he's an important player for us.
One of top 5 performers for me so far.
01 Oct 2026 16:11:06
If we can keep him fit SirWalter he will be a key player for us. We look absolutely solid at the back now. I said yesterday that if he stays fit he'll 100% get a new contract.
01 Oct 2026 16:20:05
Hopefully he is over his injuries but no midweek games will also be helping him.
01 Oct 2026 16:22:05
As u say walter a fit stering is an absolute asset.
01 Oct 2026 16:29:44
Sterling hasn't been injured for around 9/10 months now, last operation was April last year, hopefully sorted his troubles, McInnes did say he was feeling his hamstring in the last game, but wouldn't imagine it will keep him out of our next fixture.
01 Oct 2026 17:00:06
Talent was never in doubt. Absolutely brilliant player who could be playing on the Premier League. His injury record has let him down but if we've managed to sort it out and having not one but two back ups for him then we have a real asset on our hands.
01 Oct 2026 17:35:12
I'm still to be fully convinced.
Defensively he's been good, but think we need someone who can offer a bit more going forward, especially against the mid - low blocks.
01 Oct 2026 17:57:46
Just my opinion EHL, if Dujon Sterling hadn't his injury issues he wouldn't be playing with us in Scottish football mate, he'd be playing in the English Premier League π€π¬π§.
01 Oct 2026 18:02:42
Ehl, I understand exactly what you r saying, however it was pointed out to me, we should not look at Sterling breaking the lines but encourage Fernandez or makhanya do that.
Then Sterling sits and covers either player.
01 Oct 2026 18:04:15
EHL, that's not true at all. Sterling gets forward, he was up and down the wing at Celtic Park constantly. Plus we have plenty of good attacking players now.
01 Oct 2026 18:07:51
That's a fair point John. Those 2 like and have the ability to do just that. It's a good point.
I also felt like EHL, we need a more attacking threat as first choice rb. Sterling would be an able deputy. As would McCrorie.
01 Oct 2026 18:10:37
One on one he's brilliant and can slip in easily to third CB, think he does well giving our RM or winger the options as well going forward , his crosses might not be Tav or Barisic, but still decent. Stays fit with the rest of defence and we win league, SIMPLES.
01 Oct 2026 18:38:38
SWS, afriad I disagree. Having worked with him I think he's miles off having the attributes to play in the EPL.
Caldo, maybe read people's posts properly before responding.
01 Oct 2026 18:55:01
I sometimes question your judgement EHL. You wanted Nsiala in the team and a couple of others who were never good enough. Now you are still to be convinced by Sterling who has been exceptional. I'm glad we now have a Management team that now know what they are doing and clearly rate Sterling.
01 Oct 2026 19:53:43
Del it's called being a fan, all about opinions.
01 Oct 2026 20:00:18
Deal I really don't think Nsiala is anywhere near as bad as a lot of fans seem to think.
I think he's a very good player and with the right coaching and partner he'd have been a success.
Oh well, he is away now and we wish him all the best,
01 Oct 2026 20:09:50
He was hopeless stevie, that's why he's no longer at the club but yeah all the best to him.
01 Oct 2026 20:22:28
That's your opinion EHL and fair enough mate but others who've worked with him at Chelsea when he was younger and the English unders thought differently and predicted a big future for Dujon Sterling and they also coached and worked with him π€π¬π§.
01 Oct 2026 20:35:10
Boy is an absolute machine.
01 Oct 2026 20:42:49
Sws, good few EPL clubs rb's are not better than Sterling, mate, just hope he goes injury free, be a year injury free very soon.
01 Oct 2026 20:48:03
What about the young lad we signed as well, don't forget about him as an attacking threat at right back.
01 Oct 2026 20:52:44
Remember people used to say that if Tav could defend as good as he attacks he wouldn't be at Rangers.
Well If Sterling could attack as good as he defends he wouldn't be at Rangers would he?
Yet some want a full back that can defend as good as Sterling and attack as well.
How much would such a player cost?
Sterling is a quality player for us and has a very good all round game.
01 Oct 2026 21:10:12
I don't think he's anywhere near EPL class and don't think he's that great going forward, but he's helped make us far better defensively which will hopefully let the attacking players go forward and do their jobs without worrying what's behind them so we're in a much better position now in my opinion.
01 Oct 2026 21:28:13
I think the trick is to do what Advocaat done and get one of each for each position.
01 Oct 2026 22:00:23
Nsiala away to UAE league. Very very poor standard.
02 Oct 2026 08:52:56
I missed this debate last night, lots of great points raised. My take on Dujon is that we now have a RB who defends well. We now appear much more solid down that side, no more balls over the full back's shoulder leading to goal scoring opportunities- no more back post nightmares every time a cross comes from the opposite side.
I'm happy to swap attacking prowess for defensive solidity.
As others have said we have plenty of creativity in the front line now.
02 Oct 2026 09:29:56
Same here missed all these opinions. Petsonally i have always admired Sterling was just the injuries letting him down. Frankly i don't really care about attacking defenders i'm old fasioned and want my defenders defending leave the attacking to the forwards. If we keep it solid and tight at the back there's always a chance of beating anyone.
02 Oct 2026 10:12:43
I was probably in the sell him in the summer camp but tbh he has completely changed my mind. I also think with the formation we have utilised over past couple of matches we really need one of the full backs to be more defensive and help move across. One of Sterling's attributes I really appreciate is when he is the one left back at our corners / free kicks I just fee really secure that if we get broke on we have a defender back with his 1v1 attributes.
Used to be a nightmare the amount of chances/goals we lost from our own attacking set pieces.
02 Oct 2026 12:39:31
Same as myself Mass, defenders defend.
