Shankland, The "superstar" striker who would have won the league for Rangers last season according to some.
69% accurate passes in the opposition half.
3 shots on goal, 1 on target.
Lost possession 10 times.
Never won a ground duels.
And only won 1 aerial duel out of 8.
And what about the much maligned Naderi?
67% accurate passes in the opposition half.
2 shots on goal, 1 on target.
Lost possession 5 times.
Won 1 from 4 ground duels.
Won 4 from 9 aerial duels.
And what about our "future record breaking sale" for a player Chermiti?
90% pass accuracy in opposition half - but should have passed to Shankland.
3 shots on goal, 1 on target.
Lost possession 7 times.
Won 1 from 5 ground duels.
Won 4 from 7 aerial duels.

Great stats them. 🤦♂️

It's fair to say that his first competitive game for us was an absolute howler. He wasn't alone, and there were plenty others who had a stinker.

Don't think I've heard a single fan call either Shanks or Devlin a superstar. Obviously, neither are, but I'd say Shanks will prove himself a shrewd signing. Very possibly SPFL top goalscorer. One match doesn't change my opinion on that.

Stoltman could pull a caravan faster than him.
He's playing as number 10.
It'll take him 2 days to reach the box.
Devlin/Shankland should be impact subs, one to find the net, the other to stop attacks.

Teddy, he will only be top goalscorer if we get creative players in.

Not sure why the front 3 are getting it? You could back up those stats with other stats of their team mates creating chances for them. We had one good player on the park last night.

Actually thought Shankland took up some really good positions last night. Once the team adapts to his movement, hopefully we'll see the best of him.
What was clear is that he's not built for pressing.

Blue Nose Ger, good point. Last season when we sold Dessers I said to many I'd take Shankland as 2nd/3rd striker, great sub off the bench and good enough to start against many. 1yr later he's our main man and Captain. I think he's a modern day Billy Dodds.
He'd get 15-20 in most SPFL teams. I don't think he's good enough to lead our line. Great wee player, gets you goals, but a starter most weeks and Captain? Personally, not for me, but I'm behind him all the way. I hope, with better wingers and service, he can get 25-30.

Agree with EHL, if played in last night a couple of times when in plenty of space, then the meltdown might not be too bad today.

The writing was on the wall when you looked at that line up last night. Agree with storm, if we don't get 2/3 creative players for the first 11, it'll be much of the same this season, we know Shankland can finish, he's proven it time and again, but if him or the others don't get service, what's the point? Personally, felt we Devlin looked very nervous last night, but don't have many worries for him, he'll be ok.

He needs service and runners going beyond him. Some wingers with decent delivery would also be a help. Actually, felt for him last night. He was provided not even a half chance and could see the frustration and eagerness in his game which led to some poor moments.
