The dawn of another season approaches.
Most Rangers fans have got what they asked for:-
Rangers minded manager.β
Rangers minded captain.β
Shanklandβ
SPFL experienced players.β
Most craved that "factory reset" of the club, that got us back to basics.
A mixture of experience and youth in the squad.
Building for the here and now. Not just the future.
A spine of vocal leaders throughout the team. Which we seem to have in Godfrey, Devlin and Shankland.
Removal of some of the old guard and last leadership group.
We don't need to agree on the merits of each signing.
But the squad ( with hopefully another couple of quality additions ) looks the best balanced in years.
We have also craved winning in style, European success for our level and domestic trophies.
I personally think we will get 1 out of the 3 - and that's the only one that matters.
Will it be another false dawn?
Or the Dawn of a new era?
No more Vegan mince or Rohling with it.
It's time for McInnes to bring back the Battle Feverπ΄βͺοΈπ΅

Agree with a lot of what u say, Mph, but regarding the balance of the squad, even McInnes yesterday said, "we are nowhere near where we want to be". Can understand fans' frustration at the window so far. We've got some elements right, but a lot still wrong. Hopefully we will be sorted by the end of the window and don't struggle in the meantime.

All we can do is hope, fed up believing this will be the season of change just to be battered again. Some stability would be nice, and, as it looks like most supporting McInnes, he might just get the time to bring success. Can only hope, as I said.

Kaiser, I think most see we still need players in certain areas of the field. Achieving squad balance takes time and patience, spanning multiple transfer windows rather than just one.
Our issue has been the frequent managerial changes, which disrupt this process, but the club must still avoid panic-buying lower-quality players as short-term fixes just to get numbers in to appease fan unease.
That may mean that instead we have to sign smart loans when primary targets are unavailable.
Stability is key to long-term success, meaning the club should stop changing both the manager and the entire squad every single year.
However, I still have grave doubts about whether this patience will actually last if the team suffers a poor start to the season.

He needs the time. We can't keep doing this, it's detrimental and damaging to the club.
Buckle up, it's going to be some ride.
We know it might not happen this season, bonus if it does!

I'm glad the old leadership group is away, I don't think it done group harmony any good at all, more opinion than fact, but it just never sat with me.

Think the main problem is waiting on players going out! Squad is so bloated. Think we really need at least 2 or 3 creative players to excite fans. Players to feed Shankland and we be no far away.

Good post MPH, I'm unclear if you embrace the ticked items at the start or are just pointing out that's what the fans have desired. Still early in the window but good work done so far.
As players leave, I feel we will bring in more flair, possibly dependent on which Euro comp we're in and how much we bring in in transfer fees.
Good read though.

Good post, Mph.
I might be in the minority here when it comes to winning in style, but I genuinely couldn't care less how we played as long as we win. If we were to play like Pep's Barca and win the league or play like a Craig Levein side and win the league, then we still get the same prize at the end of it.
Every week it's about +3 for me, and I've got a feeling that the manager shares this mentality.
Win at all costs, do what we need to do to achieve the desired outcome.
Another new dawn for the Teds is only a few hours away. I'm not anticipating tonight will be pretty. I expect us to be rusty, possibly a little disjointed at times from middle to front, but solid and very hard to break down. A winning scoreline of any margin will do me nicely. ππ½

To be honest, BazBear, I don't really care about the ticked items.
I just want a winning team on the park delivering trophies.

Great post Mph.
I have battle fever on. π¬π§ πͺπ»

Let hoofball commence.

There have been so many false dawns. We end up disheartened. But like tossing a coin. There comes a time when it's success! The club has been saved. Being run professionally by proper businessmen that apparently are getting the club. Is this the new dawn? I'm optimistic?
31 Jul 2026 13:13:59
What you need to ask, are we stronger than last season when we came 3rd, and for me, we may just edge being stronger, but it's not by much at all. That's where the problem will lie this season.
31 Jul 2026 13:26:49
Kaiser, yes he did point that out but he has also said it is more about what he has than what he doesn't. Problem is fans want that to happen at start of window when it isn't possible to do quality business at that end if player isn't ooc. He knows and said we are trying to sort RHS and that will happen in time.
I don't want loans in until we have seen where we are with permanent.
We went for loans right away last year and how did that end up.
So a team and not just individuals. Yes it will be more difficult at the start but it will improve as we will strengthen. More worried about United having played 4 competitive games so far and them being closer to match fitness than our lack of a RHS player to be honest.

What is goofball? π
31 Jul 2026 14:34:25
It's a fair point, Storm, but the main addition for ne is the manager. I feel he will get players running through walls for the support and that gives an extra edge to every player, so, imo we're a bit better in aptitude, but quite a bit better in attitude and application.
31 Jul 2026 14:44:49
Mph, well said. C'mon the Rangers tonight against Dundee Hibernian. π¦πΊπ¬π§
31 Jul 2026 15:27:06
Great post Mph. Storm, agree in terms of quality, but I think we'll have a far stronger mentality, be less likely to be bullied, grind more points out, etc. However, attacking areas out wide are a massive concern, but that can all change quickly with 2/3 quality additions.
31 Jul 2026 11:08:44
Angus, I've no problem bringing in quality loans that improve the 1st team. Moore Cerny Sima Tillman have been good for us, (It's the squad player academy blockers I don't like.) Unfortunately, we haven't even helped McInnes with those yet. It's the "Nowhere Near what we want" that stood out to me. So, it's not just grumpy impatient fans like me. Good thing is I think everyone is on his side.
