It has been mentioned before but the biggest signing this season is McInnes. A Rangers man who will get whatever team he has battling and hard to beat.
I don't think we are currently stronger and not light either. Totally unbalanced but I'm sure this is being addressed. I'm an Ayrshireman like McCrorie, but I don't think he's good enough. Squad player for me.
I like young Curtis but I don't think he has the speed for the wing and may fade.
I also wouldn't be surprised to see say Raskin stay and a surprise move for Fernandes or Chermiti. Hope I'm wrong. Good day Bears.

It's not the biggest signing in anyway whatsoever. If the defence doesn't get sorted out, and wingers, then he, as a manager, won't last the season.

Don't think Curtis is a winger, tbh, more suited playing off the front man.
We need to bring in a CB and a pair of full backs. Rest of the squad I'm happy enough with, tbh, if we work on moving someone and going with one in one out after that.

The biggest signing of any club is the manager. How good or bad he is can dictate the whole season, as we know to our cost. I didn't want McInnes, and I've seen nothing so far to change my mind. However, it is very early, and hopefully he, and some of his signings, will prove me wrong.
Just like it's often said, you need more than just talent to play for Rangers; it works the other way too, you need more than just battling qualities and fight. Don't think we have the balance right yet.

Agree on both sides there, the manager is a massive signing, but also needs the proper players. When you look across the city, if they kept Nancy they would have lost the league easily, but got a manager in who knew how to win games, made the difference, and a few dodgy decisions lol.
But if we back the manager and get the players in, am sure he will be a success.

I am sure McInnes will have been told we do not have the money to throw at the team we did last season, hence moving players on is a must again we can't let the Celtic are on meltdown lead into a sense of false security.
They will strengthen and we need to be able to compete with them,
McInnes will know our weakness from last season and I don't see where we have improved.

My main disagreement is with the idea that McCrorie is only a squad player who lacks the required quality. A reliable rotational player must be able to perform adequately when called upon; otherwise, weak depth defeats its own purpose and risks dropping team standards during crucial matches.
This is why I always emphasise signing players of similar ability to the starters, as they will inevitably need to play.
If a backup isn't good enough to step in seamlessly, they aren't good enough for the squad.
However, I believe McCrorie and others actually do possess this required quality, and the criticism they face is simply a manifestation of fans longing for the unattainable, world-class depth the club could easily secure back in the 1990s.
But, if you think he is only a squad player, we shouldn't have been happy for him to sign at all.

McCrorie is 100% a squad player, and I don't think we can rely on Curtis. Good young player, but for a full season, not sure.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, we spent around £30-40m last season.
Paying for this is only one part of the balancing act. These costs are spread throughout the duration of the players' contracts, so we have to cover £8-10m this season, and the next, and the next.
So, although our owners are wealthy, our low turnover means we need to be creative in how we do deals.
Examples being the Danilo loan, and the ongoing negotiations for Dahl.

Am more with Angus on this one, think McCrorie will be a good signing, improved massively during his time in England and need given a chance, give him time like others until formation is drilled into them.

I'm with you, Colonel, I think McInnes is an excellent choice and I wish we had gone for him after Gio. This is Walter Smith mark 2 for me and I see many similarities, particularly his tactical approach with two strikers and building a team of leaders who know our league and some who are Rangers men who get it and will drive others on. I disagree with you on McCrorie because I think he is good enough. I think having proven leaders like Shankland, Devlin and McCrorie who would run through brick walls for the club and McInnes can only be a positive and will set standards.
I also think that we have to be patient because McInnes has inherited a squad full of players who are nowhere near good enough. We know that we need two wingers, a CB and a CM who are starters.
Walter Smith played 442 against 5 man midfields and low block defences and was never overrun in midfield playing with two CM's.
We have to ensure that we recruit the right CM's. McInnes also has a more direct approach to our play where keeping possession isn't a priority, again very similar to Walter's approach.
I'm looking forward to our more direct attacking play and I'm particularly keen to see Miovski and Shankland together in this system. I think with the proper service from quality wide players these two will score for fun as will Naderi and Chermiti. I would also like to see Chermiti play off the left for the time being. I think he is a better option out there than Curtis.
Derek also has a job on his hands to shift the duds out of our squad.
We are in great hands, but we need patience, in Derek we trust.

McInnes is our biggest signing? How do we figure this out, OP, we won't have a clue until part way through the season, I get he understands what it means to play for us and expectation, but his managerial career has been the complete opposite to his playing career.
He has only ever managed small clubs where winning week in week out isn't expected and playing in a certain manner didn't matter, but now he's here he won't get the same easement.
From day 1 he has to win, and after our last few disasters I think he will actually get more pressure from fans to hit the ground running as he is a "Rangers" man so knows what's expected straight away.

Storm, it is an opinion as to whether he is or not a starter or a back up. I am not discussing or arguing that point. But surely if we want to be consistent over a season we need the replacement (squad?) player to be a similar quality.
So someone who pushes the player in possession. Otherwise, we are just paying a salary for a player who won't perform when he has to take the jersey, either rotation or injury, he needs to be good enough to not make us worse as a team.

We're never going to have 2 of the same ability for each position. There will always be ones considered 1st choice who will start the majority of games. The other squad players provide backup or rotation when needed without damaging the team.
McCrorie falls into that category for me. A reliable 2nd choice who can cover a number of roles, but we should be looking for a better starter like Tav used to be.

McInnes will get my backing till results say otherwise.
As yet, I think he is on a hiding to nothing as we are obviously weaker at this stage than last year. European results might just start to tip the balance against him, as 1 he hasn't exactly done well at that level & 2 we still don't have the quality we need, all 6 days before the league starts.

He isn't good enough to be 1st team starter, that's my opinion, Angus, and if he is 1st team starter then we are up rubbish creek. We can't afford similar players to be sitting on the bench week in week out for that, and even clubs like Man City, Liverpool, Real, etc, don't always have that, so how can you expect Rangers to have that?
