Why is it a silly question? We are exclusively shopping in England and linked with a few more and repeating the same as past seasons. It's a very valid question, and I agree, Reidpt, I hope we are now down with that market and move to trying to find some quality elsewhere.
I could understand the obsession with that market if we were continually winning, but we haven't for a long time now so maybe it's time to turn our attention elsewhere.

Agree. If we start going for Hull wingers or more Sunderland players like rumoured on here, I'm not going to be too confident going into next season. We need 4 or 5 players of real quality. Time will tell.

It's scar tissue, Reid, been burnt too many times, and that's not to say this crop won't smash it, but definitely would like some signings where we know nothing and all look to a quick Google search or YT highlights to see what they're about.

So, let's just spend £Millions on foreign players again and won nothing. The new squad imo will be closer to the squads of old where we did win a few trophies, I think we've bought well so far, time will tell of course. Give it time lads.

I think a lot of that may be a timing issue, as we get into the latter stages of the World Cup, we'll see more coming from Europe, I think.

The guys itk have already posted there's going to be 2 marquee signings, so give it time and wait and see on 3rd of September to how our squad is looking. ? Because it didn't happen with signing certain players from England as a few have touched on, absolutely doesn't mean different players signed from the same place won't work and be really good signings for us.
? I'm happy with what we're doing so far and I feel McInnes is signing the correct types of players that have character as well as ability. ?

We've only signed two Championship players. We're hardly getting our signings from there. The 5 in will 100% improve our squad.

This summer, our net spend will be zero, or, more likely, we will recoup more than we spend. So far, we have only spent £4 million, and with Raskin about to go, along with a few peripheral players next week, we will be in the black.

But the key phrase is whether we are keeping money back to sign quality. Not saying the ones we have aren't good players, but, like the OP, I wanted a bit more of a buzz about the quality of signing. Yes, & will probably win nothing with the millions we'll be spending on Scottish talent or SPL players. I really hope there's more than who we've been linked with or rumoured to want, can't believe our recruitment team are fully focused on England again & haven't extended to other countries. Can't tell me Dahl & Andersen are the only Scandinavian players that would improve us.
Like Pieter says, doesn't matter where they are from or who they support, at the end of the day we've constantly lacked players in certain positions & had too many in one.
We've not had a goal scoring midfielder in years, we had creativity with Hagi but nothing more when he was injured. Sakala was the last RW who scored goals for us. Other than Gerrard, we haven't had a single manager see out a full season & build a team which is something we need imo.

BbJ, it's a silly question because Godfrey was signed from Italy, mate, Shankland was signed from Scotland, how can that be exclusively English? Rommens was signed not long ago from Belgium, Chuckuwani was signed from an Austrian team, Olsen was signed from Germany. We've got the guys that are available now, more will be signed as teams start getting knocked out of the World Cup.
BbJ, I've posted before about not liking this route, but surely we wait to see how we look close of window. It would be absolutely negligent of our club to focus on one league, which isn't the case. That's why it's a silly question.

Think we are getting a bit carried away on what we can really afford, got to remember where we're in the past, will all out overspend.
If we can get money for Raskin, Diomonde, Fernandez, Antman, Gassama, Souttar, who are all replaceable, by all means let's reinvest all we get for them, a conservative estimate being 50m, that should improve our team even if we pay 15 to 17 m for Ferguson which I honestly think would be a waste of money as we could find better at that sort of fee.
But if McInnes thinks that is way to go, I would take chance to show how we think he is going to do.
I honestly think he will win us the league next season.
Only counter on that is, I have been on p*** all day in Lanzarote, but let's keep the faith, we are all in this adventure together, folks.

Ppl posting we've been down the Scottish and English route, yes we have, but we've also signed plenty foreign players over the years, that hasn't worked either, so should we stop signing foreign players for that reason? Of course we shouldn't, same as we shouldn't give up on Scottish and English.
I know someone will come back and say it should be a mixture, I agree, but we aren't finished signing players, yet, I'm pretty positive it will be.

BB4, Godfrey signed from Italy, that's true, but he was signed because Purdy knew him. Rommens was because of Charai. Chukwuani, Olsen and Naderi were all because of Rohl's knowledge and contacts from Germany and surrounding countries.
I know we are aligned in our thinking, when it comes to what we should be doing and where, but this is just another summer where we seem to be targeting the same leagues again.
I know we have time and may very well target other areas, but we, as fans, are allowed to voice concerns without you saying it's a silly question, as that sounds like you are dismissing the OP, which I know you wouldn't do.
