I have to admit, i'm going to miss Super Jack Butland in goal! I think the big guy is class. He has shown himself to be a true professional and just an alround good guy. Good Luck at Hull Super Jack. Once a ger always a ger!

29 Jun 2026 19:57:13
Haven't been a fan of Butland as a player or leader, something I've been quite vocal about for a long time now.

Good luck to him wherever he ends up and I'm sure he'll appear on many podcasts sharing tales of his time at Ibrox.

29 Jun 2026 19:58:27
Sorry Cmac, I can't echo your sentiments. He was decent at best but never a Rangers number 1. Far too many blunders, never commanded his box and was a very poor leader for someone with his experience. I wish him all the best, but I'm glad that this leadership group is being shown the door. I hope Souttar is next.

29 Jun 2026 20:11:56
I wish him all the best, but feel he's been a pretty average keeper for us.

29 Jun 2026 20:25:18
We all have our own opinions about the club or players and that's fine if you guys disagree with me, but I think that he's been class and without him we would have shed a whole lot more goals and ultimately lost more games.

29 Jun 2026 20:39:22
Good keeper but prone to clangers. Seems like a nice guy too. Wish him all the best but we definitely need an upgrade.

29 Jun 2026 21:06:15
We will be okay with the next one then as he won't make any mistakes. ?

29 Jun 2026 21:25:20
He did come across as a good pro and good guy, but I have never seen any of our keepers make as many massive mistakes as he done 2 seasons ago. He cost us goals nearly every week.

29 Jun 2026 21:30:31
Wish him all the best, but I think he was full of patter. Could be unbelievable on his day, but made some amount of howlers. Many forget he gifted Celtic that cup final a couple of years ago as well.

29 Jun 2026 21:31:22
Hopefully one who won't consistently make the same mistakes leading to chances on an almost weekly basis, mate. Won't be sad to see him leave at all. Wish him well in his move, like most of our ex players. He was another example of us paying vastly inflated wages for average results.

29 Jun 2026 21:31:29
Ask yourself this.
How many points were dropped by JB's blunders?
How many points were won due to some of his outstanding saves?

If it hadn't been for some of those saves, we wouldn't have been in contention at the split.

29 Jun 2026 21:43:24
EHL, anything in particular that you'd be comfortable sharing about why you weren't a fan of his leadership? I think the player stuff speaks for itself, but maybe something behind the scenes we don't see also?

29 Jun 2026 21:56:16
The thing is, Jim, making saves is his job.

It's what he gets paid to do.

Making mistakes isn't.

29 Jun 2026 22:01:26
Slim Jim, the guy failed to save a single shot in some games last season. Falkirk, before the split, scored 3 with 3 shots on target. Hibs, after the split, he conceded 2 from 2 before making a save. He faced few shots. Most teams we played had between 2 to 4 shots on goal & he conceded 1 or 2 in some games.

He wet the bed last year & Clement dropped him for being bad, disappeared when England didn't call him up too. He did have some brilliant games but not when he was truly needed. He's not the worst keeper we've had but I wouldn't consider him one of the best either.

29 Jun 2026 22:02:12
Butland was outstanding in his first season, I wish him well in his next job, but the man has had me a nervous wreck watching him the last couple of seasons, him with the ball on the deck and my heart missing beats.

29 Jun 2026 22:08:42
Slim Jim, I'm pretty sure he was ranked 11th or 12th in the league for shot stopping last season (I might be wrong, but sure I heard that on a couple of podcasts).

29 Jun 2026 22:10:54
SlimJim, I would say it's pretty close. Yes, he made great saves at time, as do many others, but how many were recovering from his own errors? How many were conceded, particularly from set pieces, because of his poor command of the area? And, how often could u see teams specifically targeting him in their tactics because he was poor at dealing with crosses? He gained a good reputation as a good shot stopper because they look good, but there was so much else wrong with his game.

A mid Championship level or 2nd or 3rd choice EPL GK which is all he's ever really been.

29 Jun 2026 22:17:39
Star, he reminded me of myself hitting a golf shot, when he was kicking the football it went everywhere but the intended.
He could shank them, he could hook them and he could slice them with aplomb.
Four.

29 Jun 2026 22:36:35
Wish Jack Butland all the best, but always remember his clanger at Old Trafford against Utd.

29 Jun 2026 22:55:43
He was decent for us overall. I think a new keeper was needed.

29 Jun 2026 23:20:25
Had some unbelievable games. In his first season I thought he could be better than McGregor for us. His 2nd season ue has a really bad injury in his leg he didn't know about, was it blood clots? That explains his Dio in form.

Last season I thought he could, he was good.

All the best to the big man.

He definitely got the club and the fans Thata for sure.

11 of him wef won the league.

30 Jun 2026 00:02:26
We'll struggle to get a better keeper than Jack, that's for sure.

We only had shagger cause he's a bluenose.

Jack was fantastic for us in Europe, he saved us from many doings. He also helped us win a few we should've lost.

He was 7.5, maybe an 8 out of 10 success rate for me as a signing.

30 Jun 2026 07:41:46
He had a good 1st yr, StevieG, but nowhere close to McGregor. Think he believed his own England hype, and when it didn't happen, he was never the same. Think he's wanted away since. Looked totally disinterested at times, never looked bothered when we conceded. We had 11 like him and that's why we lost.

30 Jun 2026 09:37:53
I am with you, Cmac.
Every keeper makes mistakes, it's like saying no striker misses sitters. ?
He kept us in a lot of games last season, but that's ok, it's his job. Pity our defence was that rotten, they couldn't stop the shots before it got to him, or our midfield and strikers didn't score more goals, as it's their job after all.

30 Jun 2026 10:06:03
It's not just like other players can make occasional mistakes tho. I have to agree with Mystar on this one. Had my heart in my mouth every time the ball went anywhere near him. When the whole stadium holds its breath whenever the ball is at his feet, that's bound to translate on the pitch and to the players in front of him.

He's far from irreplaceable. As u say, Storm, the rest of the team also didn't do their jobs, so we are trying to replace them. He is no different.
